Ah Cheng Laksa @ e@Curve, Petaling Jaya

Today, Ah Cheng Laksa is a very well known brand in the Klang Valley. Having started their business in 1955 in the humble town of Alor Setar, they have managed to expand their business throughout the Klang Valley with outlets in numerous shopping malls. I have read many positive reviews on their Asam Laksa, Curry Laksa and Nasi Lemak and that had brought me to this outlet today. This outlet is located on the Lower Ground Floor of e@Curve and it is fairly easy to locate it as it is right beside the escalator on the Southern Wing.

A Small Note on their Origins
I just love their caption which goes as "Best in Subang Jaya and Sunway and some even say in PJ"as it sounds rather bold yet very Phua Chu Kang in style. The restaurant is simple in design but nice. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. I opted to sit indoors as it was quite dusty outside due to the construction happening around this area. The staffs here were very friendly and chatty with customers and that is good as it makes you feel very welcome.

Nice Advertorial
Their menu concentrates specifically around the three core dishes i.e. Asam Laksa, Curry Laksa and Nasi Lemak. Besides this, they also offer some Herbal Chicken and Assam Fish which are two of their second tier favourites. From all the reviews that I have read, I have been made to understand that they serve the authentic Northern Style Laksa which has a very thick broth with loads of fish. From their menu, you could also observe that they have a number of add on's to their dishes like extra fish, egg etc which is good as it gives customers the flexibility to customise their dishes according to their preference. They also have some combo sets for larger groups. Unlike their other outlets, here orders are taken at the tables. In most of their other restaurants, you would need to walk up to the counter, place your orders, pay for them and then a number is allocated to you and then once ready, the dishes would be sent over.

Fresh Orange Juice @ RM 4.50
Their Orange Juice was really fresh and I saw them squeezing real oranges and not some off the shelf product. I could observe this as from where I sat, the kitchen was fully visible. I must say that it was very concentrated and good. For the price of RM 4.50, it was worth it and I would rate this drink at 9.8/10 .

Chili, Lime and Sauce to add to your taste

Asam Laksa + Extra Fish @ RM 8.50

Three Full Fish for the add on's
The Asam Laksa surely impressed me. The broth was really thick and it had loads of fish in it. With the extra fish that I added on, I also get another three full fish on the top as you could see from the above photo. The Laksa too was given in abundance along with slices of pineapple, cucumber, onions and mint leaves. Mixed together, this is definitely a gastronomical treat. I have never seen, at least in the Klang Valley, a Laksa that is this good in preparation and authenticity in accordance to the Northern Style of preparation. The taste was absolutely fantastic and I would now agree with their caption that this is definitely one of the best Asam Laksa's in the Klang Valley. I would rate their Asam Laksa at 10/10 .

Having expanded to a chain of outlets, I am definitely impressed with how they still maintain the quality of the food across all the outlets. The dish too is very fresh and in a dish like this which has loads of fish in it, freshness is of utmost importance. Definitely a job well done. Do note that all their outlets have the Halal certification.
