Achi Curry House @ Batu Caves, Selangor

Achi Curry House is located in Dolomite Park Avenue which is along Jalan Batu Caves, not very far from the Subramaniar Temple. As you drive along the MRR2, keep left right after the Temple and shortly, you would see this restaurant on the left.

Mee Goreng Station Along The Walkway

Entrance To The Restaurant

Interior Of The Restaurant
We arrived here just around 2 pm but as it was a rainy day, the premise was quite quiet. The place is just like any other typical Tamil restaurant but the cleanliness was perfect. There is a small Mee Goreng station outside the restaurant and this is a good idea as the smoke from the flame does not irritate customers in the restaurant. I have been to restaurants where they fry the Mee Goreng at the entrance and the smoke travels into the shop and irritates the throat and eyes. This restaurant is also brightly lit up and there are so many fans for customers' comfort.

Vegetarian Food Items

Vegetarian Food Items
It is good that they have separated both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. There is a good spread of vegetarian dishes here. Despite the restaurant seeming quiet, quite a number of dishes had been sold out. Perhaps lunch time business starts pretty early here.

Non Vegetarian Dishes

Non Vegetarian Dishes
There are a number of non vegetarian dishes as well but looking at the number of trays, it seems that they prepare more vegetarian dishes. Even their non vegetarian dishes were mostly sold out with just a few items remaining at this hour.

Curries in Claypot
They also had a separate section where they had some curries made in claypots. I was told that the curry varies daily. Today it was Chicken Curry, Rasam and Crab Curry.

Some Tea Time Vadai's
Some Tea Time items too had been prepared and these include Ulunthu Vadai, Thaiyiru Vadai and Sambar Vadai. It is good that these items are prepared here as they are not commonly found in Malaysia.

Teh O Ice @ RM 1.60

Limau Ice @ RM 1.80
Both the drinks were decent. I must say that although the staffs here do not smile or greet their customers, the service is quick. We ordered our drinks the moment we were seated and it was served in less that 3 minutes. I would rate their drinks at 8.5/10 , though the price can be slightly on the high side.

My Meal @ RM 3.50
My meal was simple but I took huge portions of everything. It comprised of White Rice, Sambar and Tofu Sambal. Besides this, I also had a glass of Rasam. All this for RM 3.50 which seems like a great deal to me.

Sambar
Their Sambar was thick but lacked vegetables. Nevertheless, the concentrated Sambar tasted really good and it was good enough. I would rate their Sambar at 8.8/10 .

Tofu Sambal
Their Tofu Sambal was super spicy, even for me. So please be careful when taking this item here. I am not saying that it was not good. In fact, it was delicious but just a tad too spicy. I would rate their Tofu Sambal at 9.1/10 .

Mock Chicken Perattal @ RM 5.00

Mock Chicken Perattal @ RM 5.00
My brother decided on not having rice but just picked his sides. This small plate of Mock Chicken Perattal cost us RM 5.00  which is definitely on the high side. I would definitely say that this is expensive. Taste wise, it was nice and I would rate it at 8.5/10 .Not great but nice!

Mock Fish Sambal @ RM 2.00

Mock Fish Sambal @ RM 2.00
He also had a slice of Mock Fish Sambal and this was priced at RM 2.00 . At RM 2.00, I would say that it is an acceptable pricing unlike the earlier dish. The Mock Fish was nice and once again the sambal was super spicy. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Milagu Rasam On The House

Milagu Rasam On The House
The Milagu Rasam was simply awesome and it was provided complimentary with my meal. Definitely good stuff. I would rate this at 9.6/10 .

Our Bill For The Day
Overall, the food here is good, the service is good and the place is very clean. Prices too are reasonable, except for the Mock Chicken. Otherwise, a good place to have lunch if you are in the vicinity.
