Kampong Kravers @ NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

One of the recent Curry Puff outlets that has been making waves around the Klang Valley is Kampong Kravers. Having started with a humble beginning in Damansara Kim, today they have another six outlets located in prominent malls around the Klang Valley. This has been on my 'To Do List' for a while now and I was excited to discover their outlet in NU Sentral Mall, located on the fourth floor.

Kampong Kravers in NU Sentral Mall

Very Modern Looking Outlet
This outlet is located very near to the escalators on the fourth floor of NU Sentral Mall. I really liked the design of the outlet as it looked very attractive, modern and practical.

On Going Promotions
Besides the usual list price, they also had some special packages that were running across all their outlets throughout the month. Definitely looks like some good deals.

Fourteen Flavours of Curry Puffs

Cakes & Pastries Too

House Special Spices
I was amazed to see the variety of Curry Puffs that they had. It was 14 different varieties, right from the common ones to more interesting ones like Durian, Nuttela and Cempedak. Besides these Curry Puffs, they also had some cakes and pastries. For those who are interested to try out their 'mains' at home, ready made spices were also available for sale.

The Menu

The Menu
To be honest, I felt that the Curry Puffs were selling at premium prices as they were not really big. Nevertheless, the plus point here is the variety and that's their unique advantage over other players in town. They also had some good set meals which made it more affordable. Interesting to see items like Briyani Mee Hoon and Basmathi Nasi Lemak. Very unique food items which I have not seen elsewhere.

My Bill
I had already had a very heavy lunch earlier and as such, could not taste that many varieties. Hence I stuck with my favourite Chicken & Egg and Mutton Curry Puffs. Also added a cup of Teh Tarik. In total, this cost me RM 10.40 . After having paid the bill, I was told to take a seat while they mix the drink and heat up the puffs for me. Great that they are doing this and ensuring that all puffs are served hot.

Small Seating Area

Small Seating Area
For customer's convenience, they had a small dining area within the premise. This was cute looking. Not grand, but very much practical.

Frozen Curry Puffs
Besides the cooked Curry Puffs, they also had these frozen Curry Puffs for sale. This reminds me of Yik Mun Restaurant in my hometown. Anyway, it definitely adds a convenience factor for customers who wish to buy bulk and take home, only to be fried on another day.

Teh Tarik @ RM 5.20 per cup

Teh Tarik @ RM 5.20 per cup
Not too long a wait and the Teh Tarik was served. It was just a small paper cup and this was priced at RM 5.20 . Definitely a premium. Taste wise, it was quite bad. Yes, you read it right. It was really horrible. In fact, it did not taste like Teh Tarik at all. I believe that the staff preparing this drink has got to be retrained. I would only rate this at 2.10 . Not recommended!

Two XL Curry Puffs @ RM 5.20 for two
I deliberately put the desert fork there for you to get a comparison in size. Their usual one was half the size of this and this was deemed to be extra large. For me, this is just the usual sized Curry Puff that we get outside. Price wise, it's surely on the high side.

Mutton Curry Puff

Mutton Curry Puff
The Mutton Curry Puffs were good. In fact, I really enjoyed the spicy Mutton gravy that came with small cuts of mutton. Perfect bite size chunks. I would rate this at 9/10 . Definitely a good Mutton Curry Puff.

Chicken & Egg Curry Puff

Chicken & Egg Curry Puff
Another excellent Curry Puff this was. The chicken gravy was different to the earlier one. This one was not too spicy and it tasted just great. I won't say that this was amazing but it was still good. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Overall, I was very happy with the Curry Puffs (though I may not agree with the pricing) but disappointed with the Teh Tarik. Would I come back for their Tea? Never! Wound I come back for their Curry Puffs? Definitely I will! Loved them and would love to taste the other varieties soon!
