Restoran Six One @ Kajang, Selangor

If you're looking for the best restaurant in Kajang to have Hokkien Mee and Chinese Fried Rice, then Restoran Six One would be the place. After a long search, I am happy that I had come across this place. Not only do I feel the same, in fact most of the reviews on Foursquare talks about those two dishes only.

Restoran Six One in Taman Sri Langat

Menu On The Wall

Just A Simple Restaurant
This restaurant is located in Taman Sri Langat, one of the Taman's that's located along Jalan Reko. I believe that they may have been here for a very long time since they are quite famous with the locals. They are famous for two things actually, the two food items that I had mentioned and their steep prices. In fact, this restaurant operates as a normal Chinese restaurant and you get a huge variety of dishes as well, all are priced at least 30% more than market prices. Even their noodles are priced similarly but since it tastes good, people have come to accept the prices. They are open daily with off days not being fixed. Business hours are from 11 am till 3 pm and then again from 5.30 pm till 10.30 pm. Orders are usually handled by the lady boss and it is she that decides the pricing. One good thing here is that even when you order a single plate of noodles, they would hand you a printed receipt when you pay and that comes with GST. I guess they must be doing very well to qualify for that revenue bracket.

Fried Rice @ RM 7.95
I know you must be thinking that the price tag seems very odd. Yes, I too felt the same but I guess it helps later on when the GST element is added onto the final bill. Their Fried Rice was very good. In fact, it is one of those Fried Rice that has the exact same taste as Restaurant Ga Onn which is based in Tanjung Malim and I used to label them as the Fried Rice Masters. The Fried Rice comes with lots of Char Siew, eggs, sliced pork and some beans. The only thing that is missing here which is added into Ga Onn's preparation is Lap Cheong. But taste wise, it was very similar. Absolutely loved it and I would rate this at 9/10.

Hokkien Mee @ RM 7.95

The Hokkien Mee was also priced at RM 7.95 . Portion wise, it was good for one adult. The noodle however was slightly different. It was fatter and was a little more chewy and that seemed a little different to me since we are so used to the commonly found thick noodles. The sauces were splendid, it was sufficiently moist and had just the right 'heat'. They had used lard too and that's another plus point. The other setback was the lack of chilli paste which for me is a must when having Hokkien Mee. Mixed feelings about this dish to be honest. Loved the dish but no so much the noodles itself and the lack of chilli paste was a let down as well. I would probably rate this at 8/10.

The Fried Rice was very good and I won't hesitate to call it the best in Kajang. For friends from Tanjung Malim, this was the exact same taste that you would get from Ga Onn Restaurant . The Hokkien Mee was also good but their noodles itself seemed thicker than usual and had a chewy texture which was one that I did not quite enjoy. Maybe, you need an acquired taste to enjoy this. Nevertheless, still one that I would recommend if you were to look at it as a complete dish and not bits and pieces. Till date, this is the best Fried Rice and Hokkien Mee that I have come across in Kajang.
