Grandmama's @ Sepang, Selangor

I was at the Departure Lounge in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and was looking for a restaurant to have a quick dinner. Usually, I try not to stray too far from my gate and one of those prominent restaurants that attracted me was Grandmama's. The rest were mostly fast food chains which I was not too keen in. 

The Restaurant At The South Wing

This restaurant is located on the Mezzanine Floor, South Wing of KLIA Departures. The restaurant was crowded and I managed to share a table with another gentleman. I have visited Grandmama's before, specifically the outlet at The Intermark and am quite familiar with the food here. 

The above are some of the pages from their menu. They have a mix of Malaysian dishes and the entire offering here is Halal certified. Having been full house, it was a challenge to get the attention of any one of the waiters and the captain does not seem to assist in any way. I guess he has particularly moulded his mind that he would only do supervisory duties. Finally, after a reasonable wait time, one of the waiters took my orders. 

Iced Teh Tarik @ RM 9.00

Well, their Teh Tarik wasn't really that great and nowhere close to what you would get at the Indian Muslim restaurants. Nevertheless, it was still acceptable but a tad too sweet for me. Since it's the airport, we can't really complaint about the pricing as well. My rating for this drink shall be 6/10. 

Char Kuey Teow @ RM 23.50

After a reasonable wait time, the Char Kuey Teow that I had ordered was served. Again, it was another long wait before the green chilies were served. I can't really blame them as the waiters were so busy running around attending to the customers. In fact, I should congratulate them in trying their best to serve the customers. Coming back to this Char Kuey Teow, it was surely good. There were Fish Cake, Shrimps and Cuttlefish and the overall flavours of the dish was good. I would give this preparation a 8/10. 

For a good Malaysian meal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Departure Terminal, I would recommend visiting Grandmama's that is located on the Mezzanine Floor of the South Wing. Good variety of Malaysian food but please be prepared to wait a while as they are mostly running full house.
