Char Kuey Teow Stall in Restoran Goodwill @ Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong

It was a very long day and by the time we finished our work in Kajang, it was almost 10.30 pm. My brother had to drive all the way to Sungai Buloh to drop me and had another long drive back to Sri Kembangan. At this hour, we still have not had our dinner. I was thinking more of buying some Mc Donalds back as we could cut short the dining time but my brother suggested a place in Bandar Puchong Jaya whereby he had heard from his friends that the Char Kuey Teow is quite good. Moreover, it seemed like a convenient stop as it was located along the LDP which was our route back.

Stalls In The Restaurant
This place was located along Jalan Kenari 17C in Bandar Puchong Jaya, just two or three doors away from the Damansara Hokkien Mee outlet,  Puchong branch. This restaurant is a corner unit. When we were here, it was past 11 pm and the place was still crowded and parking was a mess. We had to park quite a distance as nearby parking were fully taken up. This restaurant was just like any other Chinese Restaurant that operates like a food court concept. A big difference here is that this place was way too messy and cleanliness inside the restaurant was not up to it's mark. Even the layout of the stalls were quite messy.

The Lady Busy Frying The CKT
Fortunately, this stall was facing the road and I did not have to walk inside the restaurant. The flooring seemed so slippery and it did not feel safe to walk on it. Prices were displayed on the glass panel and besides Char Kuey Teow, she also does other fried noodle varieties. We ordered two plates of Char Kuey Teow and walked back to our table. I was observing her when she was frying. She too fries one plate at a time and it was then that my confidence resumed that her Char Kuey Teow should be good.

Roadside Tables With Expired Licenses

Coca Cola @ RM 2.30
Drinks were sold by the landlord and he hires some foreign boys to do the job. Service here is extremely slow. Flagging the boys to get your orders is one thing and by the time they deliver your drinks, it takes easily 25 minutes. I can say the precise timing as I did time it from the time they took the orders till they delivered the drinks. Drinks too are not cheap. A can of Coca Cola was priced at RM 2.30 which is more expansive than 7 Eleven itself.

Char Kuey Teow @ RM 5.50

Char Kuey Teow @ RM 5.50
The Char Kuey Teow was delivered quite fast, it was less than 10 minutes from the time of order. The Char Kuey Teow looked good and the aroma was awesome. There was a lavish amount of cockles, eggs, fish paste and bean sprouts in the dish. Taste wise, it was quite good too, not spicy and yes, it was delicious. I won't claim that they were excellent but they were indeed good! My rating for this plate of Char Kuey Teow would be 8.5/10 .

I have not ventured much in this part of town but from what I have tried, this was pretty good and surely becomes the best that I have tried in Puchong. There may be better ones around and as I said, I am yet to explore this part of town as my exploration till date, is quite limited when it comes to Puchong and the hawker food around here. For now, my benchmark in Puchong for Char Kuey Teow would be set based on this dish here at Restaurant Goodwill. Definitely looking forward to try out more places in this vicinity in the days and months to come.

  1. I have been here but only in the morning. There is a stall selling Ipoh Koay Teow soup. The guy running the stall is the son of the original guy in Ipoh.
