Hainam Chicken Rice Stall at Restoran Tanjong Malim @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Restoran Tanjong Malim, or commonly known as 123 to the locals (for which I do not know the  reason) has been around for almost a decade now. This restaurant has seen many changes in management over the years and these days, for lunch, it is open to a number of stall operators who run their lunch time business from here. This restaurant is located directly opposite the Thandayuthapani Temple and is along the same row as Restaurant Garden Seafood.

Crowded At Lunch
The lunch time crowd here is quite encouraging. They have a number of stalls here during lunch hours ranging from Char Kuey Teow, Curry Mee, Chinese Mixed Rice and even Hainanese Chicken Rice. Come evenings, it is solely a restaurant that sells typical Chinese food that you get at any Chinese restaurants which include noodles up to Chinese dishes but don't except the complicated dishes here as it is a simple, day to day Chinese kitchen. As for me, I quite like their Hainanese Chicken Rice and come here quite often to get my fix.

Only Roasted Meats Are Available Here

Roasted Chicken and Roasted Pork
Although a Hainanese variety, here one would only get Roasted Chicken and Roasted Pork. The steamed variety is not available here.

My Meal @ RM 4.00
It is always best to come here early to avoid being disappointed as the meats tend to get sold out quite fast. He usually starts around 11 am and close around 2 pm. Best to come between 12 noon to 1.30 pm, the latest. His rice is another excellent preparation here too. They are made using butter and ginger and it is very soft and nice. I would rate his rice at 9/10. This is exactly how the authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice's rice should be.

The Roasted Chicken is another favourite of mine. They are medium roasted to a golden brown texture thus having kept the juices intact and the meat un-charred. The portion is decent and a plate which is served with plain soup on the side is priced at RM 4.00 . I would rate his Roasted Chicken at 8.5/10 . If you happen to be in this part of town, then this would be a good place to try out. A simple no frills me which is delicious for a mere RM 4.00 . Definitely value for money.
