This is a newly opened Nasi Kandar restaurant in Tanjung Malim and as of today, they are four day's old. Previously this used to be a Malay Restaurant which had been running on a loss and were forced to close down. This restaurant is owned by a schoolmate of mine, who is also the eldest son of the present owner of the legendary Restoran Ghani in town, an Indian Muslim Restaurant which have been around since 1931.

Drinks Station |
This restaurant is located in Taman Intan Setia. I just met him in town yesterday and he had invited me over to try the food and with that, my parents and I decided to drop by this afternoon for lunch. Since they were new, there were not many customers here today.

They were fortunate to get a corner unit as the space was quite huge and they were able to open up all the shutters thus making the restaurant cool on the inside. Once we took our table, we walked over to the curries station to check what was available for the day. Being just a few days old, I was impressed to see that they had quite a number of dishes available, definitely more than any other Indian Muslim restaurants in town.

Warm Water |
|
Teh O Ice |
|
White Rice |
We ordered our drinks at the table and they were served shortly. Parents went for a glass of warm water each and I went for a glass of Teh O Ice. The Iced Tea was good and I would rate it at 8.5/10 . Instead of going for the usual way of taking all the preferred dishes on your plate, I requested for three plates of white rice and the other dishes to be served on individual plates, thus enabling us to taste and share all the selected dishes among us.

Bitter Gourd Perattal |
|
Bitter Gourd Perattal |
The first vegetable that we choose was the above Bitter Gourd Perattal. It was quite nice, cooked along with some tomatoes and spices and the Bitter Gourd was fresh and crunchy. A tasty dish. I would rate this at 8/10 .

Bean Sprouts Perattal |
|
Bean Sprouts Perattal |
The Bean Sprouts too were quite nice. Cooked with some sliced carrots, these were quite tasty and had very minimal oil. Definitely one of the good ones in town. I would rate this at 8/10 .

Kicap Fish |
|
Kicap Fish |
The Kicap Fish was nice but could have easily been better. The fried fish had soaked too long in the gravy and it was quite oily too. Oil could have been minimised and if they had added more thick soy sauce, that would have done the trick in keeping the fish crispy and yet bringing out the overall intended taste. I would rate this at 7/10 .

Sambal Fish |
|
Sambal Fish |
The Sambal Fish however was very good! The Fish had been deep fried to a crisp and added on to the spicy gravy. An excellent dish and this deserves a rating of 9/10 . No comments on this dish.

Mutton Chops |
|
Mutton Chops |
The Mutton Chops were decent only. The gravy was very good but the mutton itself was overcooked and the chunks were pretty much bones. As the mutton chunks itself were not up to my expectations, I would only rate this at 7/10 .

Fish Curry |
|
Fish Curry |
We had requested for some gravies to be served separately as well. Their Fish Curry was quite nice, but not the best in town. It would not be fair to mention the other restaurant's name here but this was second best in town. Good stuff, but there's a better one elsewhere. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Mutton Gravy |
|
Mutton Gravy |
As we liked the mutton gravy from the Mutton Chops dish, I had asked for a plate of the gravy alone and he accommodated. The gravy was awesome! For this gravy, these guys are the best in town. I would rate this at 9.5/10 .
|
Rasam |
|
Rasam |
They also served us three small bowls of Rasam. For an Indian Muslim restaurant, their Rasam was quite good. Slightly on the sour side, nevertheless it was still good. I would rate this at 8.6/10 .

Us Having Lunch |
On the whole, I was quite happy with the meal here. I am not saying this as it is my friend's place but because they truly deserve it. Their curries were average to good, the prices were reasonable, cleanliness was impressive and the service was excellent. For our meal, he had charged us RM 19.40 which I feel is quite reasonable bearing in mind that it served three. Definitely a place that I would return.
