Restoran Ravi's Corner @ Kajang, Selangor

Ravi's Corner is located along Jalan Reko in Kajang. In the past, I have tried Basil Leaves and Vishaals and today, as part of my exploration on the Tamil food scene in Kajang, decided on trying out another new place. I was quite sure that there would be more places to try along this Jalan Reko and boldly drove out. Not far from Vishaals, we spotted this place and it was crowded. This crowd was not seen in both Basil Leaves and Vishaals and I was certain that we had found a fantastic Tamil restaurant.

Customers Queuing Up To Get Their Food

Air Conditioned Dining Space

Full House
The place was buzzing with customers. They had both a non air-conditioned as well as an air-conditioned dining space. The air-conditioned dining space was dedicated to their customers who were going for the Banana Leaf Meals and the non air-conditioned dining space was for the customers who were going for meals on plates. If you choose the latter, one would have to queue up and get the curries. Since quite a few of us were in the mood for Banana Leaf Meals, we had the privilege of being served in this room.

Good Variety Of Curries

Coca Cola @ RM 2.00
I simply walked out of the room to check the variety of curries that they have and the spread was simply awesome. The amount of vegetarian dishes available was simply astounding. Then I came back in to the room to order our drinks. My brother and I went for a Coca Cola and it was priced at RM 2.00 per can which seemed very reasonable to me.

Basic Banana Leaf Meals @ RM 5.50
All the staffs were super efficient and they were moving as if they had wheels on their heels. The Basic Banana Leaf spread came with four vegetables, rice, a number of curries and payasam. The price once again seemed very reasonable if not cheap to me.

Pickled Vegetables

Cucumber Acar

Fried Vegetable
All their vegetable tasted absolutely good. They were lavish with the portions and if you requested them to top up, they were more than willing to do it. Besides these, they also had other vegetables which one could request for but those would be additionally charged, which I think is very fair. As for these vegetables, I would rate them at 9/10 . Very good indeed!

Sambar

Sambar
As there were three of us having Banana Leaf Meals, instead of going around with the curries, they placed them in small pots just at our table for our convenience. This is the very first restaurant that I am seeing which practices this concept. If you need more of the same, they would top up without any additional charges. Firstly, their Sambar. It was very good and came with lots of vegetables in the gravy. Thick and delicious Sambar and this deserves nothing less that a 9.3/10 .

Thannichar

Thannichar
Their Thannichar was fantastic too. There were lots of greens in the gravy and it was so delicious. I actually had two rounds of these and would rate it at 9.7/10 . Fantastic preparation!

Vegetable Kulambu

Vegetable Kulambu
Their Vegetable Kulambu was once again fantastic. I was struck with awe tasting all these dishes. Everything that I tried thus far tasted good. I would rate this at 9.7/10 . Highly recommended!

Vegetarian Mock Chicken @ RM 5.00

Vegetarian Mock Chicken @ RM 5.00
As we were vegetarians for the day, we decided to try their Mock Chicken Perattal. It was priced at RM 5.00 per plate and we had two of these. Their Mock Chicken Perattal was absolutely delicious. Another dish that was very impressive. I would rate this at 9.6/10 .

Rasam

Rasam
The Rasam was also provided complimentary as part of the set and this again tasted good. Perfect spices and balanced flavours! I would rate this at 9/10 .

Fruit Payasam

Fruit Payasam
At the end of the meal, we were served with Payasam. They did not serve the usual Payasam that is commonly found but this very special fruit Payasam. This is the first time that I am tasting it and it was a true delight. Not Pancharmitham but Fruit Payasam. Superb! I would rate this at 10/10 .

Masala Vadai @ RM 0.80

Masala Vadai @ RM 0.80
After the meal, we also tried their Masala Vadai which was priced at 80 cents each. This was awesome! Truly delicious. Quite spicy, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Very delicious Vadai and I would rate this at 9.4/10 .

Potato Curry Puffs @ RM 0.80 each

Potato Curry Puffs @ RM 0.80 each
Their Potato Curry Puffs too tasted good, in fact very good. It was not the bland kind of potato filling but this was filled with spices and that made every bite a true delight. Very good ones and I would rate these at 9.6/10 .

Pulut with Gula Melaka @ RM 1.00 each

Pulut with Gula Melaka @ RM 1.00 each

Pulut with Gula Melaka @ RM 1.00 each
We also tried a few of these. Wrapped in Banana leaves, inside were a cupful of Pulut Manis and topped with grated coconut which has been infused with Gula Melaka. This was the best that I have tried till date. Truly the best! I would rate this at 10/10 . Must try if you love these.

Us Having Lunch

Us Having Lunch

Bill For The Day
For all the items that we had, the bill was merely RM 36.00 which I would say that it was very reasonable. The food was fantastic. There was not a single dish or item which I could say that this was above average only. Every item was a winner! I am delighted to have found this restaurant and definitely would be visiting this place much more often. Now I truly know why their immediate neighbours i.e. Vishaals do not have that much crowd, or perhaps even half of what these guys have for lunch. Thus far, this is my favourite Tamil restaurant in Kajang!
