Heng Huat Fried Kway Tiao @ Pasir Panjang, Singapore

This afternoon, I decided to venture out to another stall which comes under the Singapore's Best Food category and these guys are famous for their Char Kuey Teow. This stall is located inside the Pasir Panjang Food Court and they are open on Mondays to Saturdays, from 12 noon till 10 pm.

Pasir Panjang Food Court

The Stall That I Was Looking For

Singapore Best Foods Award
It is not difficult to locate this stall. Once you arrive at the Pasir Panjang Food Court, head over to the right side and walk in. Right in the middle of the food court, you would notice this stall. There was a long queue of orders when I arrived and I had to wait close to 20 minutes before my order was served. The concept here is that you would have to place your orders and pay for them. Once it is ready, it would be sent over to your table.

Basic Char Kuey Teow @ SGD 3.00

This is their basic plate of Char Kuey Teow. As you can see, it comes with lots of veggies and you could add more eggs, veggies, cockles and even opt for the oyster version. The portion was decent and taste wise, it was nice and very different to the Malaysian version. Being one of the best Char Kuey Teow in Singapore, it is worth giving this a try.

Prawn Noodle at San Jiang Eating House @ Geylang, Singapore

Singapore has a rating system whereby they go all out and rate eateries based on customer voting and feedback and the next few days, I was planning on visiting some of the best eateries that Singapore has got to offer. This morning, I visited one of the restaurants that was located close to my hotel. This restaurant is famous for their Prawn Mee and apparently it is one of the best ones that you would get in Singapore.

The Restaurant In Lorong Geylang 12

The Entrance To The Restaurant

The Prawn Noodle Stall
Those stalls and restaurants that are rated as the best, would have a logo pasted on their stall. Since this one is just one of the best, hence you won't find the logo here. The stall itself was quite basic and there were a handful of customers at the restaurant when I arrived. And without a doubt, all of them were having this Prawn Mee. He also sells some other noodles as well but their Prawn Mee seemed to be the top seller.

Iced Coffee @ SGD 1.50

Prawn Noodles @ SGD 4.00

Comes With Red Chilli's
The Iced Coffee was priced at SGD 1.50 and it was good. Not too sweet and the blend was perfect. 9/10 shall be my rating for that. The Prawn Noodle was priced at SGD 4.00 per bowl and interestingly, it was served by red chilli's instead of the usual Shrimp Paste.

Clear Broth

Comes With Shrimps, Sliced Pork and Fish Cake
The broth itself was clear in colour unlike the reddish broth that you get in Malaysia. There were sliced shrimps, pork slices, fish cake and some kangkung as well. It actually tasted much milder than the version that you get in Malaysia. I did check around with some friends in Singapore and apparently this is how the Prawn Noodles is served in Singapore unlike the one that you get over here. I would say that it was still good though being different.

The Prawn Noodles from San Jiang Eating House in Geylang is apparently one of the best Prawn Noodles that you get in Singapore. It's quite different to the Malaysian version and the broth is clear in colour. However, the flavours are nice despite being much milder. Worth trying when you're in Singapore.

Vegetarian Food Stall at Neighbourhood Food Court @ Kota Damansara, Selangor

At some point in time, I used to visit Kota Damansara almost daily for dinner. There are so many good food outlets here and at any point in time on any day, you would have so many places to choose from . One such favourite places of mine for a good vegetarian lunch would be Neighbourhood Food Court.

The Chinese Vegetarian Stall

Excellent Variety
Neighbourhood Food Court has a lot to offer in terms of variety but this place basically comes to live in the evenings. For lunch, there are just a handful of operators that are open. I specifically like this Vegetarian Stall because of the variety that they have and their prices are very reasonable. This stall is located right at the main entrance as you walk in from the street side and not the car park side. Another good thing about this place is the easy availability of parking. There is a multi storey car park that is attached to this food court and that makes things even more easier.

My Lunch @ RM 6.00
I took a number of items and they had only charged me RM 6.00 for my meal. The food was good and they were fresh. My rating for the food here shall be 8/10.

For a good Chinese Vegetarian lunch in Kota Damansara, I would recommend heading to Neighbourhood Food Court which is located in Sunway Damansara area. Right at the entrance, there is a Chinese Vegetarian stall and the variety that you get is really good. Tasty food and reasonable prices.

KA Vegetarian Restaurant @ Klang, Selangor

We were in Taman Chi Liung, Klang this morning for some work and I had some friends who are vegetarians with me. Right after our discussion, we were looking for some place to have lunch and one of the friends suggested this restaurant which apparently is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Klang.

The Restaurant In Taman Chi Liung
Locating this restaurant wasn't difficult and parking is pretty easy around this side of Klang. The restaurant itself was huge and they occupied two shop lots. Very spacious and clean as well.

As you can see from their menu, they have a range of cuisines that they offer and they are all vegetarian. It is more like a Malaysian restaurant and the prices seemed reasonable.

Chinese Tea @ RM 0.80 & Asam Boi @ RM 1.90
The Chinese Tea was good but the Asam Boi was just so so. I am not sure if the Asam itself was not fresh but it just didn't seep well. My rating for the previous shall be 9/10 and the latter 5/10.

KA Special Noodle @RM 7.70

Sweet & Sour Chicken Chop Rice @ RM 6.60
The KA Special Noodles was basically Yee Mee. The portions were good but taste wise, it wasn't the best vegetarian version of this dish that I have tasted. My rating for this shall be 6/10. Similarly, their Sweet & Sour Chicken Chop Rice was just above average only and for this, my rating shall be 5/10.

Based on the dishes that we had tried this afternoon, I wouldn't get too excited about the taste. I am not saying that it wasn't good, it just wasn't great. However, the variety and mix of cuisines that you get here is simply remarkable. Worth visiting if you're in the area and looking for some vegetarian food.

Restoran Puchong Yong Tau Fu @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

This afternoon, we were in the mood for some Yong Tau Fu and when I looked up in the internet for some good recommendations, this Restoran Puchong Yong Tau Fu came up. Since it is not too far from where we were, we decided to drop by for lunch.

The Restaurant in Pusat Perdagangan Seri Kembangan
This restaurant is located along Jalan PSK 2 which is in Pusat Perdagangan Seri Kembangan. And even when you're driving on the main road, you would be able to sight them. The restaurant is huge as they occupy three shop lots and that is a good indicator that their business must be good True enough, when we arrived, the place was almost running at full capacity.

Besides Yong Tau Fu, they have a variety of other dishes that they offer which includes Steamed Fish. The prices are not really cheap and are slightly more than other Yong Tau Fu restaurants. Nevertheless, if it is good, then we surely have no reason to complain. After having gone through their menu, we registered our orders in the Order Chit and passed it over to the lady boss.

Sauces

Herbal Tea
One thing that I like about this restaurant is the space factor. Since they occupy three shop lots, the tables are neatly spaced out and it is not really congested like some restaurants. Moreover, all that you may need in terms of cutlery and sauces are neatly placed on all tables. In a matter of minutes, our drinks were served. I ordered a glass of Iced Herbal Tea and it was good. Not too sweet and pleasant. My rating for this drink shall be 8/10.

Okra Stir Fried With Sambal Belacan

Chee Cheong Fun

Paper Wrapped Chicken
We ordered a small portion of Okra stir fried with Sambal Belacan and we were surprised to see the huge portion being served. I double confirmed with the waiter if that was the small one and they said yes. Certainly looked much bigger than the photograph in the menu. So, if you're going in a very small group, please do take note of this. Taste wise, I would say that it was just okay. There should have been more Sambal Belacan and the lack of it made it taste quite bland. My rating for this dish shall be 6/10. Their Chee Cheong Fun was nice. It came with the sweet sauce and you could add as much chilli that you prefer. This I would give it 7/10. Their Paper Wrapped Chicken was above average. Not to say that it was bad, but my mind is constantly comparing this to the one that we had in Puchong. Huge drumstick but taste wise, it could have been better. My rating for this shall be 7/10.

Steamed Egg

Yong Tau Fu in Soup

Fried Assorted Yong Tau Fu
The Steamed Eggs were very good. The texture was just perfect and it had just the right amount of sauces. 9/10 shall be my rating for this dish. We choose a number of Yong Tu Fu items that we added to the soup and they were all good. I would rate them at 8/10. Their fried items however could have been better. I didn't quite like it as it was soaked in oil. My rating for this shall be 6/10.

We totally enjoyed their Yong Tau Fu which came in clear soup. They were all good and so was their Steamed Eggs. The fried items however could have been better and the same goes for their Paper Wrapped Chicken. In summary, decent food but slightly pricey.
