Pu Yuan Restaurant is a hidden gem that is located along Jalan Klang Lama. They have been around for many years and they are very famous among their loyal customers. In fact, there has been so many newspaper write ups about this restaurant but it's secluded location is one that makes this restaurant very unique, of course, it's food as well.

As you can see, the location is quite hidden and there is not much of a signage here. Most people would see the very first Hokkien Restaurant that is by the side of the road and would miss this restaurant that is located behind.
As you can see, the number of newspaper write ups about this restaurant is just so huge and the above is just a handful of them. This restaurant specialises in Hokkien cuisine and these are dishes that are commonly found in other Hokkien Restaurants. Once you are inside the restaurant, it's totally different. The ambiance is homely and it is air-conditioned for customers comfort. Ordering is easy as the lady boss is quite helpful.

Fried Sweet Potato Flour Noodles |
Their Fried Sweet Potato Flour Noodles is their signature dish here. I found it to be pretty good and the one that truly lifted the taste was the fried lard. My rating for this shall be 9/10. Another famous dish here would be their Stir Fried Rice Cakes. We didn't try this dish as we were already quite full with what we had ordered. Nevertheless, I was told that this too is quite famous here. We also tried their Guinness Pork Ribs and it was excellent. 9/10 would be my rating for that dish.

Pork Spring Rolls |
|
Steamed Fish Head with Ginger |
Their Pork Spring Rolls were nice but I have tasted better ones. I felt that the texture was a little loose and a little more meat would have made it better. 8/10 would be my rating for that dish. Their Steamed Fish Head with Ginger is another house speciality and this was really good. The fish was fresh and as a result, it was just heavenly. 9/10 would be my rating for this preparation.
For some very unique Hokkien dishes, I would recommend visiting Pu Yuan Restaurant that is located along Old Klang Road. The restaurant is a little secluded and can be very tricky to find but if you follow the instruction above, you should not miss it. Some of the famous dishes here would be their Fried Sweet Potato Flour Noodles, Stir Fried Rice Cake, Deep Fried Century Eggs and Steamed Fish Head with Ginger. Excellent food and reasonable prices.
