This is a place that is very famous with the locals in Subang Jaya. This stall, specialising in South Indian Cakes is located in the small hawker area in SS 15, right by the main road. It is difficult to miss this place as you'd be able to see a lot of people at this stall all day long. Sometimes, the queue even goes up to 50 meters long. He has been around for a number of years now and every time I pass this area, I make it a practice to drop by as I simply love his cakes.

All Cakes Are Freshly Made |
This stall is open seven days a week and he starts from 11 am and goes on till 7 pm. Right from the moment he opens the stall till about 6.45 pm, there would be a continuous flow of customers, almost everyone of them doing takeaways. All his cakes are fried on site and they are so good. Way better that what we get at those famous South Indian Restaurants and they are priced at RM 0.50 per piece. Even in Tanjung Malim, these are commonly priced at RM 0.80 to RM 1.20 each. For a city, that's a really good price. The variety is great too. As for us today, it was slightly different. We bought one each and ended up having them near the stall itself. This was simply because my Dad was with me and I wanted him to try them all before deciding on what to buy back home. So it was one each and we shared them all till we finally decided on what to buy back in large quantity.

Curry Puff @ RM 0.50 |
|
Very Spicy Curried Potato Fillings |
Curry Puffs have always been one of our favourites and as such, we are quite fussy when it comes to the taste. This one however came with a thin skin and it was filled with some very spicy curried potatoes and there were like no empty pockets inside. This is what you call stuffed to the maximum and it was heavenly. Man....what a taste! Truly one of the best South Indian style Curry Puffs that I have tasted. I would rate this at 10/10 . Highly recommended!

Masala Vadai @ RM 0.50 each |
|
They had added a range of spices making it really tasty |
Masala Vadai was also excellent. Thin patties fried to a golden brown perfection, extremely crisp on the outside and a burst of spices and flavours on the inside. What a perfection! Amazing! It would be not right if I rated this anything less than a 10/10 .
|
Samosa's @ RM 0.50 each |
|
Filled With Green Peas, Sliced Mushroom's and Curried Potatoes |
Potato Samosa was also nice. It was filled with green peas, some sliced mushrooms and curried potatoes. This version of curried potatoes weren't spicy and it reminded me of the Punjabi style of preparation. The filling was good but since they have opted to follow the Punjabi style of preparation, it would have been better if the skin was the thicker version. Good but not the best that I have tasted. Nevertheless, I would rate this at 9/10 .

Pachai Payiru (Green Mung Bean) Bonda @ RM 0.50 each |
|
Very Tasty |
Their Pachai Payiru (Green Mung Beans) Bonda was good. A thin layer on the outside and it was filled with a perfect mash of green mung beans and palm sugar (Gula Melaka). The perfect bite size and they were so addictive. I would rate this at 9/10 .
|
Vengayam (Onion) Bajji |
|
Filled With Spiced Flour and Diced Onions |
These Vengayam Bajji's weren't sold individually. He used a small plate and that filled to the maximum was priced at RM 1.00 . Seemed very reasonable to me. This again was extremely fresh and another plus point was that they had used a lot more diced onions compared to most shops and that made it really special. Besides that, they had also added a number of spices into the batter to boost the taste. Fantastic and I would rate this at 10/10 .

The Stall Along Jalan SS 15/3B |
|
Opposite Hassan's |
|
Near This Tyre Shop |
His Ulunthu Vadai is also fantastic as I have tasted it in the past. Sad that they were sold out this evening, else could have shared that photo too with all of you. Besides these, they also do have a few other cakes for you to choose from. Our favourites were their Curry Puffs, Masala Vadai and the Onion Bajji and we ended up buying back RM 20.00 worth of cakes. That was how good the cakes here really are. This place is located along Jalan SS 15/3B, right opposite Hassan's Cafe. Parking can be a challenge at times but not impossible to find. Surely a place that I would highly recommend for some authentic South Indian cakes.
