Geylang Lorong 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee @ East Coast Road, Singapore

I was told by my friends to check out this Hokkien Mee place that is located along East Coast Road. Apparently, this is the best Hokkien Mee in the whole of Singapore. Being not too far away from that place and having known that it is so famous, I had to pay them a visit this evening.

Signage Saying That It's One Of Singapore's Best Food

Located Inside A Restaurant

Very Crowded
This is more of a stall that is located inside a food court. But true enough, the majority of the crowd here were there for this stall only and each table had to have a few plates of this noodles. Unlike the Hokkien Mee places in Malaysia that starts late evening and closes sometime at around 3 am, these guys open for lunch and close at 9 pm. Even on the stall, there was a sticker saying that this is one of the best food in Singapore and that statement was from a ministry. The place was really crowded and no one comes to your table to take your orders. You have to walk up to the stall, place your orders and pay for them. Once ready, it would be sent over to your table.

Dried Shrimp Paste

Fried Hokkien Mee @ SGD 6.00
Very Moist

The Hokkien Mee here is very different compared to the ones that we get in Malaysia. Light coloured and it's quite moist. The noodles are different too and it comes with lot's of seafood and some lard. Despite looking and tasting very different, I have to agree that it was quite tasty. No wonder this place has been voted as the best Hokkien Mee in the whole of Singapore. The accompanying dried shrimp paste was quite unique as well. A must try when you're in Singapore.
