Each A Bowl Pan Mee Restaurant @ Kajang, Selangor

Each A Bowl Pan Mee Restaurant came highly recommended. Being a fan of Pan Mee, I decided to drop by this afternoon.

The Restaurant Located Along Jalan Berjaya 11, Taman Berjaya

Cutlery, Tissue & Chili Flakes
The layout was fairly simple. They had a small open air dining area and a much larger air-conditioned dining area as well. I guess, the open area was predominantly for smokers. Despite the overall layout being not too large, they had spaced the tables really well and overall layout seemed very organised. Each and every table had all they would require in terms of cutlery, sauces and even tissue. They even went to the extend of having the cutlery in a covered plastic ware for hygiene reasons.

Homemade Leong Shui @ RM 2.00
Their menu was simple. One side of the laminated card mainly listed all their drinks and the reverse was a list of all their food items. The main dish here is Pan Mee and what they have is a number of variations to those. Prices seemed okay to me as well. I ordered their Homemade Leong Shui since it came highly recommended. It was priced at RM 2.00 for a tall jar which was definitely worth it. Taste wise, it was concentrated, not the common watered down version and it was very refreshing. Definitely a drink that I would recommend and my rating for this shall be 9/10.

Chili Pan Mee @ RM 7.00

Soup with Veggies
I felt that their Chili Pan Mee was good. The noodles itself was soft and springy and it came with lots of minced pork and anchovies. The egg was made just right as well. Portions were good as well. Initially, I took just a little of their Chili Flakes and after tasting it, I found it to be not too spicy. So, I added more subsequently to suit my taste buds. For those who love their Chili Pan Mee to be spicy, you could boldly add three teaspoons full of their Chili Flakes. That was how much I had needed to get it to my desired level. Nevertheless, the overall dish was quite tasty. My rating for this shall be 8/10. Of course, I would not compare this to Madam Chiams or even Kin Kin's. It's not up to that level but it was still good. The soup that came with the noodles were good as well and my rating for that shall be 8/10 as well.

For a good bowl of Chili Pan Mee in Kajang, I would recommend visiting Each A BowlPan Mee Restaurant that is located in Taman Berjaya, Kajang. Their Chili Pan Mee is pretty tasty and they do not compromise on their ingredients. Good food at reasonable prices.

Restoran Hashima Maju @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Restoran Hashima Maju is not a new restaurant. This restaurant was previously located in Taman Anson. After the recent U Turn closure by the town council, business had been down and they had recently moved their business to Taman Happy Garden, which is right opposite the main entrance to UPSI.

The Restaurant in Taman Happy Garden, Tanjung Malim

A Simple Indian Muslim Meal
This restaurant belongs to the eldest grandson of the famous Ghani family. Bahari, who is also a close friend of mine abstained from using the Ghani legacy name and wanted to build an empire of his own. That is something that we should respect. Coming back to this restaurant, they are open from breakfast till dinner and they serve the usual Indian Muslim fare. This afternoon, I dropped by for lunch not knowing who the owner was and when I saw Bahari, I was confident that this restaurant would do fine. As for my lunch, I went for some Rice, Fish Curry, Chicken Varuval and Cabbage Perattal wnd this meal cost me a mere RM 4.50. Very reasonable I felt.

Fish Curry

Chicken Varuval
Their Fish Curry was decent. I liked the fact that he had added some potatoes giving it a slightly different twist in terms of flavours. Nevertheless, it did taste good and my rating for this shall be 7/10. His Chicken Varuval again was nice. A mix of bones and meat were found but you're free to choose the cuts that you like. Only complaint would be that it was slightly on the oily side. Taste wise, it was surely nice and my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Cabbage Perattal

Teh O Ais
The Cabbage Perattal was slightly overdone. Otherwise, it was okay. I would give that 7/10 as well. Their Teh O Ais was good and my rating for this shall be 9/10.

Restoran Hashima Maju does offer some good food at reasonable prices. For people living on this side of town, it is now very convenient that they are open in Taman Happy Garden and that means that we don't have to drive into town every time we want to have some Mee Goreng or Rojak. Besides all the standard offering, he also has Cendol and Ais Kacang as well.

Kedai Roti Happy Happy Bread Bakery @ Kajang, Selangor

Happy Happy Bread Bakery is one of the most famous Chinese bakeries in Kajang. They have a number of outlets in Kajang and Cheras and the top seller here is their Half Baked Cheese Tarts. Those are baked twice a day and during those hours, don't be surprised if you find a queue that is as long as 100 meters.

The Bakery Located In Taman Berjaya, Kajang

Assorted Buns
I was here at about 4 pm and by then, their Half Baked Cheese Tarts were already sold out. Their buns are great as well and so I decided to pick up some of those for dinner. The ones that I had selected were Butter Bun, Pork Ham Bun. Lunchean Meat Bun and Smoked Pork Meat Bun. These are my favourites and hence I went for them. In terms of choices, they have so much more to offer.

Butter Bun

Luncheon Meat Bun
Both of these buns were fantastic. Their Butter Bun comes with so much butter and sugar and it's overall texture is so creamy and tasty. Their Luncheon Meat Bun is pretty good too. Comes with a large cut of meat and the overall texture is so soft and fluffy. My rating for both shall be 9/10.

Smoked Meat Bun

Ham Bun
Their Smoked Meat Bun was just awesome. The quality of the smoked meat clearly shows and again together with the bun, it was such a delight. Similarly their Ham Bun was again excellent. Once again, I shall give these 9/10.

If you happen to be in Sungai Chua area, I would highly recommend this Kedai Roti Happy Happy Bread Bakery. Not only is their Half Baked Cheese Tarts awesome, their buns too are simply out of this world. They are so soft, made using quality ingredients and you get a variety that is not commonly found. A must visit place for bun lovers.

Restoran Gu Xiang @ Kajang, Selangor

Being on a lookout for a place to have Chinese Mixed Rice, we landed at Restoran Gu Xiang that is located in Taman Berjaya on the Sungai Chua side of town. This entire vicinity is famous for it's Chinese food variety and is quite happening all day long.

Restoran Gu Xiang Located Along Jalan Berjaya 10

More Then 30 Varieties
Despite being a restaurant that focuses on selling Chinese Mixed Rice, the decoration was very impressive and the entire restaurant was air-conditioned. We arrived at around 3 pm for a late lunch and even at that time, there were more than 30 varieties to choose from. I wonder what their usual variety would have been during lunch and dinner. From the space allocation, I am guessing that it would be close to 60 varieties of dishes.

My Lunch @ RM 7.50
I went for some Rice, Scrambled Eggs with Veggies, Sweet & Sour Pork, Minced Pork, Stir Fried Potatoes and Stir Fried Pork Belly with Dried Chili and this whole lot cost me a mere RM 7.50 . Not to forget that this meal comes complimentary with Chinese Tea and a bowl of clear soup.

Scrambled Eggs with Veggies

Sweet & Sour Pork
The Scrambled Eggs were delicious and so was their Sweet & Sour Pork. Both were made with generous amounts of ingredients and they tasted excellent. My rating shall be 9/10 for both.

Minced Pork

Stir Fried Potatoes
Their Minced Pork was heavenly. I totally enjoyed the preparation and the portion was huge. Similarly, their Stir Fried Potatoes was very nicely done. They had been deep fried first and then the sauces had been added to the dish thus giving it a slightly crispy outer layer and a soft texture on the inside. Both definitely deserve a 9/10 in terms of rating.

Stir Fried Pork Belly

Complementary Chinese Tea
Thinly cut slices of Pork Belly had been stir fried with dried chilies. The overall taste was mildly sweet and with a spicy aftertaste. My rating for this shall be 8/10. For those who do not drink Chinese Tea, they also have warm and iced water. Again, this too is provided complimentary.

Assorted Roasted Meats @ RM 12.00

Chili Paste
Besides the main mixed rice platter, we had also gone for a plate of assorted meats. We had some Roasted Chicken, Steamed Chicken, Siew Yuk and Char Siew and this platter cost us a very reasonable RM 12.00 . Each and every item served on that platter was delicious. The meat was tender and juicy and clearly they were all very fresh. My overall rating for that platter shall be 8/10.

A good place to have Chinese Mixed Rice in Kajang would be Restoran Gu Xiang that is located in Taman Berjaya, Kajang. They have close to 60 varieties to choose from and their prices are very reasonable. Besides this, I would also recommend going for their Roasted Meats. Reasonable prices as well and they are quite tasty.

Traders Cafe @ MATRADE, Kuala Lumpur

Recently I had to visit an exhibition that was happening at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre. It's such a very nice convention centre. Parking is ample and it is tucked in one corner of the city where traffic is minimal at most times. Amenities are great and when it comes to food options, there's only one place and that is Traders Cafe that is located on the East Wing of the building.

Traders Cafe

My Bill

Teh O Ais @ RM 3.20
The cafe is very nicely designed and since it is located inside the building, it is fully air-conditioned. Food options are good. You get a variety of noodles, Malay style mixed rice and some Western dishes. Everyone is expected to queue in line at the counter, pick your food and drinks and pay for them. For those items that need preparation, it would be then sent over to your table once it is ready. After having gone through the items that was on offer, I decided to go for a plate of Roast Chicken along with some Teh O Ais. Teh O Ais was priced at RM 3.20 and it came in a tall glass. For a convention centre, I felt that the prices were reasonable. My rating for this drink shall be 8/10.

Mushroom Soup

Roast Chicken @ RM 10.00
For RM 10.00, I was served a quarter Roast Chicken with Salad and Mashed Potatoes on the sides and this was topped with some gravy. Not forgetting the bowl of Mushroom Soup that came as part of the package. For a convention centre, RM 10.00 for this lot is definitely very reasonable. Many food courts out there charge more for the same.Taste wise, it was nice. A Malaysian way of preparing this dish and I am sure it would go well with most people's taste buds. If you happen to be at MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre, I would recommend trying this. My rating for this dish and the Mushroom Soup shall be 7/10.

Leaf Dining @ Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Leaf Dining is one of my favourite lunch spots in Mont Kiara. I mainly come here for their lovely Thali sets which I find to be truly good. This morning, I was here a little early and was looking for a place to have breakfast. Most outlets would only be opening at around 10 am and this seemed like the only available place for me. Having not had some good South Indian breakfast in a while, I decided to drop by.

The above are a few pages from their menu but most of those items are only available from 11 am onwards. At this hour, basic tiffin items were available. Besides the usual Tosai and Idli, I wanted to have something that I have not had in a while. I checked out the items that they had and finally decided to go for some Puttu with Venthaya Kulambu as this is something that I have not eaten in a very long time.

Puttu with Venthaya Kulambu
Their Puttu was definitely good. It was moist, soft and had a lovely texture to it. Their Venthaya Kulambu was awesome as always. Only if you do not take spicy curries, then you could perhaps have this with some other curry. My rating for both the items shall be 9/10.

Besides their Thali Meals that are available during lunch, Leaf Dining Restaurant does offer some fantastic South Indian breakfast options too. Many food items that are not commonly available at restaurants are to be found here. Despite being located in Mont Kiara, I find their prices to be very reasonable.

Restoran Claypot Junction @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Previously, I used to visit this restaurant at least once a week but of late, I have not been able to visit them for at least five months now due to my work engagements. After such a long period, I am back here this evening for dinner.  I have blogged about this restaurant before when they first opened but that entry was solely focused on their Mixed Rice variety that is served for lunch. This restaurant is open daily from 10 am till 3 pm and then again from 6 pm till 10 pm. During the first session, they only do Chinese Mixed Rice and come dinner, they serve a number of dishes like any other Chinese restaurant and all the dishes are served in claypots hence the name Claypot Junction.

Cutlery In Hot Water

Chili, Garlic, Pepper & Soy Sauce
One thing that I love about this restaurant is the breeze that blows through in the evenings. Being a corner unit, they are lucky to have this breeze that blows through all the time making it such a pleasurable dining experience. Fans are least needed because of that breeze. I have posted their full menu on my previous blog post and I don't think that I would need to duplicate that here. They do have a good variety of dishes and sometime early this year, they had also added vegetarian dishes to their menu.

Porridge with Pork & Century Eggs @ RM 13.00

Mongolian Fish @ RM 15.00
Porridge is one of my favourite dishes at this restaurant. Every time I am here, this is like a must order dish.  Just look at the amount of the ingredients used. It came with so much sliced pork, century eggs and ginger and the one that truly gave it a marvelous taste was the generously used ginger. Honestly, I never liked rice porridge prior to tasting it at Claypot Junction simply because of the flat taste but this one was something else. If this is how porridge would taste, I wouldn't mind having this on a daily basis. Each scoop was filled with a burst of flavours and it was served piping hot. Truly some marvelous porridge and it deserves a rating of nothing less than a perfect 10/10. As for the fish, we usually go for their Sliced Fish with Ginger & Onions. For a change, we went for the above Manchurian Fish and it was great. Fish slices were coated in flour, deep fried and mixed with a sweet sauce with pepper. Something really different. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Sliced Pork Belly with Salt Fish @ RM 15.00

Kangkung Belacan @ RM 8.00
Tofu with Pork Belly @ RM 12.00

This Claypot Pork Belly with Salt Fish was another heavenly dish. Another blend of ingredients that took it to another level. Thinly sliced pork belly, salt fish, spring onions, dried chilies, onions and thinly sliced ginger were served in a spicy dark broth.. Totally mind blowing stuff and I would give this a perfect 10/10. Another dish that I would highly recommend here. Their Kangung Belacan was decent. Portions were huge but personally, I would have preferred it to come with a little more shrimp paste. Otherwise, it was a good dish and I shall rate it at 7/10. Tofu with Pork Belly is another one of my favourites here. The silky texture of the tofu and the medium bodied broth goes so well. Deep Fried Pork Belly that was added was another bonus that added to the taste. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Our Bill
I have visited this restaurant so many times and their porridge has been consistently awesome. Their dishes are pretty good as well and I find them to be reasonably priced. If you love Rice Porridge, I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
