I was passing IOI Boulevard in Puchong while looking for an eatery to have dinner and I spotted this restaurant called Rockfish Restaurant & Noodle Bar that is located on the ground floor of Block A. There were two things about this place that attracted me here and they were the huge banner mentioning the ongoing promotions and secondly a small note at the corner of the banner mentioning business for sale. It seems like this could be an eatery that is at the verge of closing down or having a change of management soon. Whichever it was, it may be the last chance for me to try this place as I do not go to Puchong that often. Quickly I did Google this restaurant on my mobile and saw that there were a number of good reviews about this place and the food. With all these positive reviews, I was truly wondering why this business should be for sale or did I misunderstand it. Whatever it was, I am definitely trying this place tonight. I quickly parked my car and headed over inside.

Interior of the Restaurant |
Nice Decoration |
To my surprise, the restaurant was almost full house and everyone were so busy attending to customers needs. The decoration was really nice and the ambiance was great. Quickly, we were attended to by one of the waiters and were ushered to our table and then handed the menu. It all happened so fast that they did not have time to fraternize as they were all too busy. Still confused by the sign outside, I started to look into the menu. Now that I am here, I do not want to think about it anymore. They may have their own reasons for that notice. All I want to think of next is to make a decision on my meal and enjoy it.

The Menu |
They had a fantastic menu that offered everything German, Western and a small sample of Chinese and Japanese Dishes. Seems that their German menu has the greatest percentage of offerings and is very Porky. Saba Shio is one of my favourites and they seemed to have it as one of their signature dishes, must try it sometime. Their prices too were not really steep, I find them to be truly acceptable bearing in mind their location. We were not in the mood for German dishes tonight and therefore we settled for something Chinese. Now, having placed my orders, I am waiting to try the dishes.
Ice Lemon Tea @ RM 4.50 |
If you have been following my blogs, you may have realised that I am consistently ordering Ice Lemon Tea of late. I am not sure if this has been as a result of me forming a liking towards this drink or perhaps this drink is the best panacea for this weather. Whichever it is, I'm enjoying it. Now, the drink at this place tonight was no less in it's effect and it was absolutely fantastic, concentrated the way I like it and chilled perfectly. When I say chilled, it's chilled and not with great amounts of ice that dilute your drink along the way as it starts melting. I would rate this drink a perfect 10/10 .
Soft Shell Crab with Crystal Noodles @ RM 19.90 |
Closer Look at the Crystal Noodles |
This dish was heavenly. It was all goodness packed in a single bowl. Typically, it is Soft Shell Crab encrusted in Salted Duck Egg Yolk and served with Crystal (Glass) Noodles. At this price, there were two full crabs in each bowl and that is absolutely value for money. The Crab itself was slightly spicy with a note of sweetness. The Noodles was fried to perfection with loads of eggs and cabbage. This single bowl of noodles was good for one big eater. Definitely a satisfying dish. I finished mine and Angie had to pack hers as she could only finish half of her bowl. I would rate this dish at 9.5/10 . A strongly recommended dish at this restaurant!!!
Pudding @ RM 2.00 |
Finally, we decided to have some Pudding for desert. The above Pudding was just a small piece and it was priced at RM 2.00 each which is a fair price. I found it to be lightly sweetened according to my taste and I enjoyed it. However, Angie found it to be bland. Thats a split decision and as a result I would have to rate this at 5/10 .
In short I believe that this restaurant has some good things to offer and I sincerely hope that they remain in business with the present management for the benefit of the customers. I am assuming that their German dishes too would be great and this is based on my observation of the dishes that were sent to customers' tables during my short dining tenure here tonight. I personally think that they have great potential and they just have to develop the right marketing strategy to attract customers to their place and over time, they would surely be able to build a base of loyal customers especially those that live within the neighbourhood. My best wishes to them!!!
