Mosaic at Mandarin Oriental Hotel @ Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Mosaic is an all day dining restaurant serving Oriental and Western Cuisine ant is located within the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This restaurant is famous for their buffet's as they serve one of the best buffet's in the Klang Valley. Besides doing buffets, they also have some specialty dishes here as they have two World Class Chef's specialising in Indian and Western dishes. As I was in the vicinity today, I decided to drop by and try one of my all time favourites Lamb Chop as I heard that this place serves truly good chops and steaks.

Entrance To The Restaurant

Beautifully Designed

Just Love The Decoration
This restaurant had recently been renovated and it is stunningly beautiful. I had never seen any other restaurant in a hotel that is grander looking than this. The place is huge and the restaurant's elegant interior reflects the Peranakan culture with intricate hanging pewter lights and beautiful mosaic walls. I arrived here around 6 pm and they were busy preparing for the Buffet Dinner which starts at 6.30 pm. As I mentioned that I was going for Ala Carte and not buffet, the waitress ushered me to my table. It was interesting to see how things were so methodical and professional in their preparation. They had a whole range of food for their buffet line and each of those chefs were preparing their specialty items and were on site ensuring that the presentation is perfect.

Drinks Menu
They have different menu's for Lunch and Dinner and another one for drinks. The Ala Carte dishes has a limited range as they mostly encourage customers to go for their Buffet's as it is cheaper bearing in mind the number of dishes offered. They also have a great array of drinks which include Spirits, Wines and Beers and on weekends, they also have Beer Buffets. As I already knew what I wanted to order, it was fairly simple for me and I was glad to see that the Lamb Chop was marked as their specialty dish. Despite being busy preparing for dinner, all their waiters were very fast in responding to customers needs.

Teh Tarik @ RM 16.00
The drinks arrived fairly quick. I ordered the above Teh Tarik and it was priced at RM 16.00 . Well, for a hotel, the price is right and I would not complain. The Tea was very good and I was really impressed that they could make this much better than those Indian Muslim restaurants out there. In fact, this is one of the best Teh Tarik's that I have tried. I would rate this at 10/10 .

Butter

Lightly Salted Butter

Assorted Buns
Included within the price of the Lamb Chop set are the above buns and butter. I loved the way their butter was served as it shows their professionalism. They served three different variety of buns. The buns were really good and the butter too was excellent. Definitely the butter was imported and the buns must have been baked by a well trained Pastry Chef. I would rate their buns and butter at a perfect 10/10 .

Grilled Lamb Chops @ RM 165.00

Very Juicy Chunks

Served with Herb Garlic Butter
The Lamb Chops were served along with Herb Garlic Butter. There were two huge chunks of meat which were done medium rare, just the way the best chef's prepare them. There was also a layer of fat on one side which was beautifully marinated. The Lamb Chops tasted wonderful and along with the crisp and succulent fat, it was definitely the best Lamb Chop that I have ever tried in Malaysia. Every bite was heavenly. Being cooked medium rare,  the meat was still tender and all the juices were intact. It is a dish that was done to perfection !!! It scores a perfect 10/10 .

Roasted Vegetables
As a side dish, they served the above Roasted Vegetables and this is also part of the above set. It had potato, pumpkin, carrots and a few other vegetables which again was excellent. I would rate this dish at 9.8/10 .

Potato Gratin
The Potato Gratin was also included in the set. I could not have much of this as by the time I was done with the others, I was already stuffed and I just took a little just to taste it. I would say that this was again another dish well prepared. I would rate it at 9.5/10 .

On the whole, I was very satisfied with my dinner. Although the total bill came to RM 209.95 which included the taxes and service charge, it was money well spent. Once again I would like to repeat that this is definitely the best Lamb Chop that I have tried in Malaysia. A must try for all Lamb lovers out there.
