This blog entry is about one of the neighbourhood restaurants in Bandar Sri Damansara that serves a bowl of decent Bak Kut Teh. Well, it was a fairly late night for me and it was close to midnight. There were not many food options except for Mc Donalds and those 24 hour Indian Muslim restaurants. For a change I decided to take a drive into Bandar Sri Damansara to check out the late night scene for some Chinese food. That is when I came across this restaurant called Kedai Kopi Matahari that is located along Jalan Tanjung SD 13/1.

Just A Handful of Customers |
This restaurant is located in a quiet corner of Bandar Sri Damansara but is easily noticeable from the main trunk road. Occupying a corner lot, they are very brightly lit and one should not be able to miss this restaurant. I was here at about 11.30 pm and at that time, most of the other stalls were closed or closing. There were still a handful of customers that were having Bak Kut Teh as it was the only stall that was still open and they too are scheduled to close up at 12.

A number of stalls...mostly closed at this hour |

Bak Kut Teh stall...the only one open at this hour |
This is just a simple Bak Kut Teh stall that is manned by two Burmese guys. All preparation is done by them. There is not much that is offered here just a simple bowl of BKT without the usual extras but that is good to satisfy a hungry stomach.

White Rice |

Bird Eye Chilies |
Here, only White Rice is available and not the Onion Oil Rice or Yellow Rice that is commonly found in other Bak Kut Teh restaurants.

Some Button Mushrooms |

Lean Meat Cuts |
As mentioned earlier, you get a very basic Bak Kut Teh here that is served in a light broth. There are no vegetables or Yau Char Kui that is served with the meal. Even in the broth, all you get is your preferred meat cuts and some button mushrooms. Do note that they do not serve those big bones and other spare parts here. It is either lean cuts or fatty cuts that is available. Overall, it is an okay meal specially at this hour of the day and was quite satisfying. I would rate this BKT at 6/10 .
This is just a simple neighbourhood restaurant. Perhaps, if you come earlier, then you have a number of other options that you could order from. Looking at their Foursquare reviews, it seems that they Thai Fried Rice stall is a good option but it is sad that they had already closed for the night. For a quick and simple meal, this is not a bad place to head to.
