Namaste Indian Cuisine has been around in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail since the year 2007. Previously they were located at the corner unit along the same row of shops where Table Talk is presently located. They moved to this present location sometime in 2013. I have been to this restaurant a number of times now but this is the first time that I would be blogging about them.

The decoration in this restaurant is simple and it does not have the usually seen Indian art on it's walls that is commonly found in most high end Indian restaurants. Nevertheless, the design is modern yet simple and is comfortable and clean. The kitchen is manned by chefs from India and the floor is manned by two Indian guys with a Filipino assistant. From my experience dining here numerous times, if you need something, call the Indian guy to attend to you. The Filipino girl would never attend to customers and even if she did, you would hope that she did not attend to you in the first place as she is very rude and always just chucks the dishes on the table without even looking at the customers.

Their menu has a wide range of offerings from all parts of India, both north and south. It also offers a decent amount of vegetarian dishes to cater for vegetarians. The price of the dishes are quite reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants in town. This time, we would be trying more of their dishes with bread but do note that their Briyani's are quite good too, especially their Hyderabad Briyani. Another very important advice that I would like to share here is that do be prepared to wait as it takes them on average one hour from time of order to serve the dishes and this would be the case even if you are the sole customer around. It happens all the time and so just be prepared.

Papadam |
Mint Sauce |
Just like other Indian restaurants, the above is served while the dishes are being prepared and they are on the house. Even for this to arrive, it takes them about fifteen minutes but the good thing is that the Papadam's are freshly fried just before being served. Their Mint Sauce is one of the best in town and I would like to rate their Mint Sauce at 9/10. Definitely a well prepared dip.

Coca Cola @ RM 2.20 |
Masala Chai @ RM 5.50 |
We ordered one Coca Cola which was priced at RM 2.20 which I feel is an extremely reasonable price in such a restaurant. I ordered their Masala Chai. The Masala Chai was wonderfully infused with spices and was perfectly fixed. I would rate their Masala Chai at 9.3/10 .
Butter Naan @ RM 6.90 |
Oozing With Butter |
Since we ordered a number of items, the waiter advised us to stick to one Butter Naan only. Their Butter Naan was priced at RM 6.90 each and it was huge. Each Naan was cut into four huge pieces and for me, two slices were more than enough. The Naan was once again soft and fluffy and had a lavish spread of butter. Definitely a good preparation and I would rate their Butter Naan at 9.5/10 .

Egg Briyani @ RM 11.90 |
Egg Briyani with Two Full Boiled Eggs |
Comes With Some Thick Gravy Too |
My brother wanted some rice too and hence we ordered the above Egg Briyani. This comes with two full boiled eggs and with some thick egg gravy at the base. The Basmathi rice was wonderfully prepared and the aroma of the gravy was just excellent. The rice was soft and went very well with the other dishes that we had ordered. For RM 11.90, I feel that their portion size is huge. I would rate the above dish at 9/10 .
Yellow Dhall @ RM 8.90 |
Yellow Dhall @ RM 8.90 |
Once again, the portion size compared to the price paid was very satisfying. The dish too was very well prepared. The Yellow Dhall was at the right level of thickness and had a load of spices in it and went well with both the bread and rice. I would rate the above at 8.5/10 .
Hyderabad Fried Fish @ RM 10.90 |
For RM 10.90, I felt that this dish is expensive. In most places, you would either get a really huge piece or else there would be two or three pieces of fish but here it was only a single piece of fish that was quite small in size. The marination was nothing to shout about and it was just another ordinary dish. I would rate this dish at 5.5/10 .
Deep Fried Mutton Meat Balls @ RM 15.90 |
A Closer Look |
Inside the Mutton Meat Balls |
The Mutton Meat Balls were above average only. It lacked mutton and had more egg filling which was somewhat disappointing. I had definitely had hoped for the filling to be more meaty than just this. I would rate this dish at 7/10 only.
Namaste Special Crab Masala @ RM 35.00 |
A Closer Look At The Gravy |
This dish was absolutely fantastic. The Crab Masala was excellently prepared in a super spicy thick gravy that was literally finger licking good. The crabs were also well broken allowing the gravy to seep in. I have never tasted Crab Masala that is better than this. Definitely a highly recommended dish. I would rate this dish at a perfect 10/10 .
Overall, though we had to wait a long time for the food to arrive, the food was quite good except for just one or two dishes that were above average. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here today and would surely return to try their other dishes soon.
