Being a fan of Japanese food, it's been a while since I indulged in it as I was away from Kuala Lumpur for a while. Having come back to Cyberjaya, I discovered that there are a number of Japanese restaurants here ranging from very affordable ones like this place right to some specialty kitchens having world class chefs. Since Sushi Ya-Mi is the closest to my office, I decided to drop by after work.
The Restaurant Located In Glomac Cyberjaya Area |
Opening Hours |
Trendy Design |
This restaurant is located in Glomac Cyberjaya area and is open from 11 am till 10 pm, Monday to Saturday. It only makes sense that they are closed on Sunday's as Cyberjaya tends to get deserted over the weekends, particularly Sundays. This restaurant has a modern theme to it, there are traditional tables and chairs on one section and on the other side, it's bar stools along a conveyor belt that revolves along the entire length of the restaurant which carries a wide variety of Sushi's. People who are here specifically for Sushi's would find it more convenient to sit along this Sushi Bar. For the rest, you could occupy the tables. Even then, the conveyor belt is just an arms length away.
They carry a little bit of everything, very much one that would satisfy a non fussy eater or even one who is here for a quick bite. Prices are extremely good and I doubt you could get this kind of prices in those commonly found, Japanese owned restaurants. Ordering was a breeze. There's a chit that you would need to fill up and once done, you just hand it over to the waiter. Service was speedy as well and they do serve you with a smile.
Iced Green Tea @ RM 1.00 |
Drink options were good as well but being in a Japanese restaurant, it would just seem odd if I had opted for something else other than Green Tea. Reasonably priced at RM 1.00 per glass and it was good.
Tuna Sushi @ RM 1.90 |
I wanted to try one of their Sushi's. This is not only to see how it tastes but also the way it has been made and wrapped as that would speak volumes about the chef. To my surprise, it was professionally done. Very well presented and prepared like a pro. The Tuna Sushi also tasted good. I would give this 8/10.
Miso Soup @ RM 3.90 |
Another favourite of mine which I have not had in a long time and again, I was very impressed with the preparation. The ingredients were perfect, the taste was well balanced and it had just the right aftertaste. Impressive! This deserves a 9/10.
Gyoza @ RM 4.90 |
These three pieces of pan fried dumplings were priced at RM 4.90 . Again, very impressive pricing. What I loved most about these was the extremely soft and tender outer skin, which was almost silky smooth and yet, strong enough to hold the fillings in place without causing a tear when you try to lift it with chopsticks. The fillings too were juicy, chewy to just the right level and sufficiently infused with spices. Great work by the chef! I would rate this at 9/10.
Salmon Teriyaki @ RM 14.90 |
For the price, the grilled Salmon was a good sized cut. It was moist, tender but the marination could have been better. Thus far, this is the only dish that I felt that it could have been better. What lacked was the fact that the marination did not seep into the fish. Otherwise, an above average dish. I would give this 6/10.
Saba Shio @ RM 11.90 |
Their Saba Shio was very much better than the earlier Salmon. The skin was crispy, the meat juicy and extremely delicious and the marination was just perfect. And for the price, I would say that it was a very generous portion. A good one and I would rate this at 8/10.
