Restoran Shi Yue Tian @ Puchong, Selangor

Restoran Shi Yue Tian is a Chinese Claypot Chicken Rice restaurant that is very famous in Puchong. Their original outlet that still is in operation is in Taman Bukit Kuchai but of late, thy had also started another branch in Jalan Kenari area. This is good because that older location can be a little too far for many and parking is a huge problem there. This one is centrally located in Puchong's busy business district and parking is much more manageable.

The Restaurant in Jalan Kenari 19A

Lots of Newspaper Write Ups

As you can see from the newspaper write ups as well as the number of TV programmes that have hosted them, it should give you an indication as to how famous these guys are. The signature dishes here are their Claypot Chicken Rice as well as a number of Steamed Soups. Nevertheless, they also do have a number of other dishes as well.

Odoratum Chicken Soup @ RM 8.00

Peanut Lotus Root Soup @ RM 6.50
Their Coconut Chicken Soup is quite famous here but unfortunately, they were sold out for the day. So we settled for their Peanut Lotus Root Soup and Odoratum Chicken Soup. Both were good, authentic taste and they had some very unique flavours. My rating for both shall be 9/10.

Pork Belly with Black Fungus

Claypot Chicken Rice with Lap Cheong

We also added a side dish which was their Pork Belly with Black Fungus and it was just awesome. Truly very authentic taste and the best version of this dish that I have tasted. 10/10 shall be my rating for that dish. As always, their Claypot Chicken Rice with Taiwanese Sausage was heavenly. Lovely flavours that would always linger in your mind and my rating for this shall be 9/10.

Restoran Shi Yue Tian is a restaurant in Puchong that is famous for their Claypot Chicken Rice and Steamed Soups. The preparation is authentic and is cooked using charcoal stoves. Besides their original outlet in Taman Bukit Kuchai, you could now also visit them at their outlet in Jalan Kenari. Excellent food, reasonable prices and speedy service.

Ais Cendol Sedap @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

I was told that there is this Cendol stall in Seri Kembangan that does serve some good Cendol and that too at reasonable prices. Since we were in Seri Kembangan this afternoon, we decided to drop by for a quick desert.

The Stall Along Jalan Perusahaan 1, Taman Jinma

Reasonable Prices
Finding this stall is quite easy. Just look up for Jalan Perusahaan 1, Taman Jinma and it would bring you right here. This stall is is more than a push cart with proper seating spaces that are covered and it would be almost impossible to miss them. They have just five varieties of Cendol and we decided to go for the Cendol Biasa which was priced at RM 2.50 per bowl.

Cendol Biasa @ RM 2.50 per bowl

All Mixed Up
The good thing here is that they don't charge you extra for corn, beans etc. as all this is packaged under their Cendol Biasa which is reasonably priced at RM 2.50 . The portions were good and it the flavours were excellent too. If you happen to be in Seri Kembangan, I would recommend visiting this Cendol stall.

Restoran Kee V @ Kajang, Selangor

As you may have seen from some of my previous blog postings, there are. number of signature dishes  that Kajang is famous for. Of course, we have the Satay on one side but from the Chinese food scene, Kajang is also famous for their Hot Soup, Rice Wine Chicken and Spring Rolls. There are a number of restaurants that specialise in these dishes and Restoran Kee V is one of them.

The Restaurant In Taman Sepakat Indah
Restoran Kee V can be said to be one of the pioneers that started offering these dishes. They have a number of outlets in Kajang and if I am not mistaken, they have an outlet in Puchong too. This outlet in Taman Sepakat Indah is my favourite since parking is easy here.

Fried Spring Seafood Rolls @ RM 6.00

Chicken With Wine @ RM 14.50
Their Chicken With Wine is a signature dish and this is very reasonably priced at RM 14.50. I have tried this a number of times and in a number of restaurants that serve this very same dish. However, my preference would be for Kee V as I find their preparation style to be better. The chicken cuts are meaty and they are quite generous with the sauces. My rating for this dish would be 9/10. They were out of their Signature Pork Spring Rolls and we decided to try another version which is made using seafood. This is the first time that I am trying this dish and I was impressed. The filling was so tasty and you would easily get hooked to the flavours. Once again, another one that deserves a 9/10.

Curry Spare Ribs @ RM 16.00
Not many people have tried this dish but I would boldly say that this is one of the best preparation for this particular dish that I have tasted. Seriously, this was some awesome Spare Ribs Curry. It is so good that I would recommend this over the rest of the dishes that these guys are famous for. 10/10 would be my rating for this.

Restoran Kee V is famous for some of their signature dishes i.e. Hot Soup, Chicken with Wine and Spring Rolls and these are some Chinese dishes that Kajang is famous for. However, not many people know that Kee V does some awesome Spare Ribs Curry as well, in fact, it was one of the best Spare Ribs Curry that I have tasted. If you're in Kajang, I would recommend giving Restoran Kee V and specifically that dish a try.

You Fishball Noodles @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

You Fishball Noodles is a noodle house that is located in Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan and their specialty here is the Ikan Parang Fish Balls which is handmade. They are very famous with the locals and sometime this year, they had been highlighted by The Star and that was how they came to be known to the rest who are living outside of Seri Kembangan.

The Restaurant Located Along Jalan Aman SK 13/15A

Food Preparation Area

The Article In The Star
Finding them was quite easy with Waze and it brought us directly to their doorstep. However, if you're coming during the weekdays, parking can at times be a challenge since the entire row of shops is filled with eateries. They have a small open air dining area and that is also where the food is being prepared. My recommendation would be to sit in the indoor air-conditioned dining space as it can be very hot outside, especially with all that cooking and boiling been done. The dining space is very clean and they were literally packed with customers.

Barley & Chrysanthemum Tea

Iced Coffee & Herbal Tea
From my observation, they are specialist in managing crowd. It was clearly evident from the way the staffs moved around taking orders and attending to customers needs. I guess they must be this crowded on a daily basis. We ordered four different drinks and they were all very good. My rating for their drinks shall be 9/10. Pure and authentic taste.

Dry Soy Sauce Noodles

Fish Balls, Fish Cake in Clear Soup
We tried their Dried Soy Sauce Noodles which had a mix of Mee and Mee Hoon and it was good. Very generous with the sauces and we enjoyed the dish. This dish also came with a bowl of clear soup which had some Fish Balls and Fish Cake. Their Ikan Parang Fish Balls were extremely good. Very fresh, definitely no preservatives and it was so tasty. Even their Fish Cake was equally good. My rating for the noodles shall be 8/10 and 9/10 for their Fish Balls & Fish Cake.

Mee Hoon Soup

Variety Of Chillies
Their Mee Hoon Soup was another excellent preparation. The soup itself was so good and the add on's were just excellent. My rating for this dish shall be 9/10. The have a variety of chilli paste to choose from as well. Do note that they were quite spicy and please add them sparingly. 10/10 for their Chilli Paste.

Fried Fish Cake

Dumplings with Minced Pork

Fried Fuchok
Besides the mains, we also went for some side dishes. To start with, we tried their Fried Fish Cake and just like the fish balls, this too was awesome. Similarly, their Fried Fuchok and Dumplings with Minced Pork were simply heavenly. My rating for all three shall be 9/10.

Their Fish Balls, Fried Fuchok, Fish Cake and Dumplings were just heavenly. Fresh, homemade stuff and no preservatives added. A restaurant that I would highly recommend.

Tong Lian Kee Hokkien Mee @ Pudu, Kuala Lumpur

We Malaysians enjoy a good plate of dark Hokkien Mee and as such, there have been many such places that have become famous in the Klang Valley. One such place that has been around for many years in Pudu is Tong Lian Kee.

The Stall Located Along Jalan Sarawak

Cutlery
Firstly, I must apologise for the poor quality of the photographs as we had very dim street light that night and hence the pictures are not that great. The stall itself is located along the side road heading to the back alley. Generally, the place was crowded but don't expect much in terms of cleanliness. But I was certain that the food would be good based on the crowd that was here around midnight and they were running out of tables. This stall is open from 8 pm till 2 am Mondays to Saturdays.

Chili Paste

Cantonese Noodles
The waiter had already informed us at the time of order that it would take quite a while and true enough, we had to wait close to 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The first dish that arrived was their Cantonese Noodles, a.k.a. Yin Yong. The noodles was good and it came is a translucent eggy broth. Definitely a good preparation and my rating for this shall be 8/10. Their Chilli Paste was really good as well. Made with Belacan and the flavours were medium bodied and not too strong. My rating for that shall be 8/10.

Hokkien Mee

Spicy Pork Soup
Their Hokkien Mee was really good. Made with lots of lard, the flavours were awesome and it came with generous amounts of the dark sauce. Not too wet and not too dry, the balance was just perfect. 9/10 shall be my rating for this. Their Spicy Pork Soup however was above average only. The flavours were a little too mild for me and therefore I shall be only giving this 7/10.

Another good place in Pudu for some Hokkien Mee would be Tong Lian Kee that is located along Jalan Sarawak. Their Hokkien Mee was excellent and their Cantonese Style Noodles were good. The Spicy Soup however could have been better. Reasonable prices and it's crowded all night long. Cleanliness wise, it could have been better.

Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang @ Kajang, Selangor

Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang is a restaurant that has gone viral recently. Despite it being so close to where I live, I would have not known about this place had it not gone viral on social media. This restaurant is called Restoran Al-Mubarakah but it's known to many as Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang.

The Signage

Huge Parking Space Available
The moment you turn in to Jalan Sungai Ramal, drive in for about a hundred meters and you should see this restaurant on your left. It's a pretty huge structure that could accommodate at least 200 people at any point in time.

Their menu is limited to either a variety of Nasi Ganja or Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang. My recommendation would be to come early at around 11 am. We were here at 11.30 this morning and had to stand in line for 30 minutes to place our orders. While I stood in line to place the orders, my friends had to wait a while even before being able to sit and that too takes about 30 minutes. Once you choose the items, you pay for them at the cashier and then a number would be allocated to you. Now, you have another one hour wait time, at least, before your food is sent over. Even then, you must carefully listen to the numbers being called and then wave to the waiter and they would bring the dishes over to the table. It can be quite noisy, so you would have to listen attentively. In total, on average, you would have to wait one hour and thirty minutes.

Pandan Cincau @ RM 3.50 & Teh O Ais @ RM 1.80
After about 30 minutes wait, the drinks were sent over. Their Teh O Ais was good and I would rate that at 8/10. However, their Pandan Cincau was excellent and that deserves a rating of 10/10.

Set Dulang Talapia @ RM 10.00

Set Dulang Udang @ RM 12.00
After having waited for an hour and 30 minutes, finally the dishes started coming. The set dulling is quite standard as it comes with Ulam, Rice, Gulai Lemak, and three different spicy sambals. The one that differs would be the meat portion. Firstly, their Set Dulang Ikan Taplapia was awesome. The fish was so good and crispy and the marination was just lovely. Similarly, the fried prawns were also so good. No wonder this place is doing so well. For the fish and prawns, my rating shall be 10/10. Similarly, their Sambal was awesome and that too deserves a rating of 9/10.

Set DUlang Kambing @ RM 15.00

Udang Lemak Cili Api @ RM 12.00
Their Lamb was barbecued to perfection. Seriously, it was really good and the meat was so tender and juicy. 10/10 would be my rating for that. We also ordered a side dish of Udang Lemak Cili Api and this too was excellent. Another one that I would rate 10/10.

Nasi Dulang Daun Pisang is a restaurant in Sungai Ramal, Kajang that serves some very unique and delicious food. We tried their Set Dulang Tilapia, Prawns and Lamb and we also added another side dish of Udang Lemak Cili Api. Everything, right from the sambal to the mains were simply awesome. But, do come early as you would have to queue at least for 30 minutes to place your orders and again wait for at least an hour for the food to be served. That is the kind of crowd that they have here and if you come around lunch time, you would have to wait a very long time for a table as well. Best to be here by 11 am. Excellent food that is not to be missed.
