Restoran Kwan Tung is a Chinese neighbourhood restaurant in Sungai Chua, Kajang and they have been around for a number of years now. In fact, the location that is detached and closer to the Kampung Kwan Tung makes it even more special than any other restaurant in that area. I have heard a lot about this restaurant. Not to say that it is really cheap but I have heard that their prices are decent and the food is good too and that is the reason why were here for dinner this evening.

The restaurant was quite simple in set up and it actually looked like any other neighbourhood restaurant where the owners know most of their customers personally. In fact even today, the lady boss seemed quite chatty with most tables like she has known them for years. There is no menu here for you to see and make your orders. Pretty much, all that we tried this evening was one that was recommended by the owners.

Despite having a reasonable crowd this evening, the food was delivered fairly quickly. The first dish that was served was their Homemade Beancurd with Minced Pork and this was priced at RM 14.00 . A fairly large portion and it came with generous toppings of minced pork. The beancurd itself was so soft and nice and along with that middle spicy minced pork, it gelled so well. Their Marmite Pork Ribs was good too. Generous mix of meat and ribs and the marmite sauce was lovely. 8/10 shall be my rating for both dishes.

Their Lotus Root with Long Beans Stir Fried dish was actually pretty good. Despite being quite basic when it comes to the ingredients used, it had just the right flavours and the vegetables were very fresh and not overdone thus still being able to give their natural flavours. Similarly, their Steamed Fish with Bird Eye Chilies was another excellent preparation. The mix of sauces were just awesome and as a total dish, it was really good. 9/10 shall be my rating for both the dishes.
Overall, I would say that the food in Kwan Tung Restaurant is quite good. Despite being just another friendly neighbourhood restaurant, they do live up to their reputation and can be a strong competitor to the other Chinese restaurants in Sungai Chua. Good food and reasonable prices.
