Paddington Garden @ Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya

Paddington Garden is another recent chain of outlets that has set foot in Malaysia and one of it's recent outlets is the one in Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara. Being new, we decided to check the place out tonight.

My Dad Checking Out The Menu
This outlet is located on the first floor of the Sunway Giza Mall. Having arrived at around 6 pm, the place was not too busy and we were able to get a table rather quickly. As time passed, the place became even busier and by around 8 pm, they were full house. The outlet itself is not too big and hence has a limited number of tables but I guess it is sufficient for an outlet in a mall. The entire restaurant had a European feel to it but clearly the owners of this franchise were Chinese and they were the ones who were seen in the kitchen preparing the food and drinks for customers.

The Menu
From the description in their menu, I understand that this franchise originates from Japan and all their pancakes comes with a Japanese touch to it. Many of their dishes, including the pancakes, are customised to Japanese flavours and this makes them unique. All their menu items are listed in both English and Japanese. They also serve beer on their menu and it is limited to Asahi and Heineken. Do note that this is a Pork Free restaurant but they do not have the Halal status.

Mocha @ RM 7.90

Water @ RM 2.00

Coca Cola @ RM 5.90
The drinks were a tad expensive here. A glass of plain water is charged at RM 2.00 and a can of Coca Cola is charged at RM 5.90 . Mocha came at RM 7.90 and from their pricing, I would rather have coffee then plain water or canned drinks. Their Mocha was quite decently fixed and had the right balance. I would rate their Mocha at 8/10 .

Homemade Fried Potato Wedges @ RM 11.90
This was a dish that we ordered to be shared. The Potato Wedges were lightly fried in butter and were garnished with parsley and garlic herbs. Definitely a very good preparation and it tasted fantastic. It was definitely something different to the usual Fried Wedges and I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

Original Flavour Pancakes @ RM 5.90
This dish comes with two pancakes simmered with caster sugar and is served with honey and cream on the sides. If you need butter, that is charged separately at RM 2.00 . The pancakes were quite nicely prepared and is good for someone who is looking for a simple and light meal. I would rate this dish at 8.5/10 .

Cream Cheese Strawberry Pancake @ RM 13.90

Closer Look At The Dish
This is one of their top sellers. It is a triple decker of pancakes with a thick topping of cheese and has strawberry sauce poured above it. A dash of cream is also served on the sides. For someone who loves sugar, this dish would be ideal and according to my brother, it was pretty good. Having tried a small piece, I too would agree with him. Definitely an ideal dish for those with a sweet tooth. I would rate this dish at 9.5/10 .

Cheese Pot @ RM 15.90

View from the sides
The Cheese Pot came with a good amount of Salad with Chicken at the base, with three slices of pancakes above it and finally a lavish pouring of cheese on the top which literally flooded the entire plate. For those cheese lovers out there, this should be the ideal dish to order here. The melted cheese was thick and tasted so creamy and went very well with the pancakes and salad. An excellent dish. I would rate this dish at 9.6/10 .

Overall, this restaurant does serve a good alternative to the traditional pancakes and if you are looking for a place to try pancakes out of the traditional serving, then this is a must try place. We definitely enjoyed our dinner here tonight and would surely return again to try some of their other pancakes offered and perhaps their all day breakfast sets too.
