Restoran K Munch Corner @ Bandar Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur

Restaurant K Munch Corner may seem like another day to day Indian restaurant serving Tamil food but these guys do have some great dishes to offer. Located on a quiet corner in Bandar Sri Damansara, this neighbourhood restaurant is very much sought after for a number of dishes and specifically the dishes mentioned below. Like any other Indian restaurant, they serve lunch with a number of curries but their lunch items are really bad and not appetising. Even simple things like curries and fried fish or fried chicken, turns out to be quite bad with lots of artificial colouring and flavouring used. What is good however, is their evening to night tiffin which turns out to be exceptionally good.

Interior of the Restaurant

The Food Station
The restaurant is very typical in design and there is nothing great about it and of course, coming to a neighbourhood restaurant we do not expect much in the decoration. The staffs are from Tamil Nadu, India and at nights, this restaurant emanates a very strong aura similar to those restaurants seen in the 70's.

Teh O Ice @ RM 1.20
Now, time to talk about the dishes that are excellent in this restaurant. The Teh O Ice is really good and it one of the best ones that I have tried in the Klang Valley. The amount of tea leaves used and the sugar that is added gives it a very bold character. I would rate their Teh O Ice at 9.3/10 .

Chicken Perattal @ RM 3.50 per plate
Every single time I come here, I must try their Chicken Perattal. It is absolutely delicious with very strong aroma and flavours. The spices used must be those that are home ground and not the ready made ones as it clearly outlines a strong difference to the ones found out there. Please note that this does not apply to their Mutton and even their Chicken Varuval which is somewhat horrendous. Their Chicken Perattal however is always consistent every time I visit them. I would rate this dish at 9.7/10 .

Ghee Tosai @ RM 2.40
Their Ghee Tosai is very well prepared and I love to have it with the above Chicken Perattal. As you can see from the above photo, it is really huge and comes with a lavish amount of ghee. A very appetising dish and I would rate it at 9.4/10 .

Roti Canai @ RM 1.00
Their Roti Canai is another treat. It is made with very minimal oil as you can see from the above photo and the taste is wonderful. It is made to be very flaky and crispy, just the way Roti Canai should be and not filled with oil like the ones we get in most places. This is so good to be even eaten on it's own.I would rate their Roti Canai at 9.2/10 .

Capati @ RM 1.60 each
Their Capati is as good as the ones that is found in those Punjabi shops. It is done perfectly well and with very little oil. Good to go with curry as well as my favourite Potato Masala like the next item. I would rate their Capati's at 9/10 .

Potato Masala @ RM 1.20 per plate
Another excellent item here that goes very well with their Capati's is the Potato Masala. The only problem with this is that they prepare only a limited quantity and it tends to get sold out fairly quickly. I would rate this dish at 8.7/10 .

Oothappam @ RM 2.40
Most Malaysians would have tried Appam but not many would have tried Oothappam which is an entirely different dish. There are only a handful of restaurants that sell this and that too, to find a good one is rather difficult. Here, this dish is excellently prepared and comes with a very soft texture. Great to go with the White Coconut Chutney. I would rate this dish at 9.4/10 . Many would be wondering why I have not mentioned items like Idli and Spring Hoppers (Idiyappam). That is simply because their Idli is very average and their Idiyappam is horrible and not worth trying.

Kesari @ RM 1.20 each
This visit, I opted to try out two new items that I have not previously tried here and they are their Kesari and Curry Puffs. The Kesari was just average and it was too sweet and that sweetness put me off though the texture was soft and nice. I would rate their Kesari at 6/10 .

Curry Puffs @ RM 0.70
Their Curry Puffs were nothing to shout about. It was rather flat in taste and was disappointing. I would rate their Curry Puffs at 6/10 .

On the whole, if you do come here please stick with the recommended items which are really excellent as the others are just not up to the mark, in fact they are quite bad. I do come here often, at least once or twice a week and tend to order my favourite items and have always been returning a happy man. One dish that I had read in the Foursquare reviews where customers claim to be good is also their Magee Goreng which I have not got the opportunity to try. Should I do so in the near future, I shall definitely update this post with that information too.
