Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee is a restaurant that needs no further introduction. Most people living on this side of Petaling Jaya would be very familiar with this place. Located on a row of shops having three different Hokkien Mee restaurants, this has always been the busiest of them all.

Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee in Damansara Utama |

Outside Seating Area |
This restaurant seems to be busy at any time even in the wee hours of the night. They have three outlets across the Klang Valley and I have been to two of them, this one in Damansara Utama which is their very first outlet to open and another one in Kota Damansara. Both the restaurants that I have visited are always packed with crowd. They even have outside seating space which is covered with canopy but on a rainy day, I would suggest to sit inside as you get a lot of sand flies on the outside seating space and that can make the dining experience rather annoying.

The Menu |
Their menu is a large single sided print and I have observed that most of the dishes are quite similar across all restaurants specialising in Hokkien Mee. Nevertheless, the style of cooking would differ and that definitely impacts the taste and brings about a variance. Their staffs, mostly Bangladeshis (including the cooks) would walk around taking the orders, delivering the dishes and they are generally quite efficient. In fact, the moment you walk towards the restaurant, they would have spotted you and would be walking towards your table with the menu card and this would be followed with the cutleries.

Herbal Tea @ RM 1.80 |
The Herbal Tea here has always been very good and the taste has been consistent with every visit. It is concentrated, lightly sweetened and would be served hot unless you request them for ice. I would rate their Herbal Tea at 9.5/10 .

Pork Soup @ RM 14.00 (2 pax) |
The Pork Soup is a must try dish here especially on a cold night. You have a choice of going with Mee Hoon or just plain soup and tonight, as we were ordering a few more dishes, we decided to just have the plain soup. This soup comes with loads of vegetables and Pork and is made slightly spicy with pepper. It is priced at RM 7.00 per pax and we ordered for two pax. This was good for the three of us and it was sufficient to serve two servings each. I would rate this soup at 9.3/10 .

Hokkien Mee @ RM 7.50 (1 Pax) + Added Pork Lard @ RM 0.50 |

Their Chili Paste is just awesone |
As always, their portion sizes here are really big. The above dish was for one pax and it is priced at RM 7.50 . We requested to add extra Lard and that was an additional RM 0.50 . The Hokkien Mee here is cooked using charcoal stoves and that gives it a very special taste compared to cooking it on a gas stove. The preparation is also more to the wet style and the noodles would most often be dripping wet with the sauces. Along with their Hokkien Mee, you must try their homemade Chili Paste which is awesome. Together, they make a fantastic combination and I would rate their Hokkien Mee at 9.5/10 . Just for your information, their neighbours along the same row prepare a slightly drier style.

Hokkien Yee Mee @ RM 7.50 |
The Hokkien Yee Mee was just above average. I expected it to be as good but was a little disappointed. The dish was just not as flavourful as the previous. I would rate this dish at 6.5/10 .

Their Other Branches |
On the whole, their Hokkien Mee and the Pork Soup was absolutely fantastic. I have not tried their other dishes and it seems almost like a ritual that every time I come here, I would order those two dishes and perhaps my next trip here, should try some of their other dishes too. Overall, a very satisfying meal.
