This evening, we were in the mood to explore another eatery that we had not tried before. As we drove past Taman Kajang Prima, we saw this restaurant called MB Restaurant which seemed to be like a food court concept. Having not tried this place in the past, we decided to check the place out.
The Restaurant Along Jalan KP 1/2, Taman Kajang Prima |
This restaurant is located in one corner of Taman Kajang Prima and their location gives them the advantage of being noticed even from the outer trunk road. That was how we came across them in the first place. Parking along the row of shops seems to be a challenge but if you go a little further up, there's a vacant plot of land where you could park. Business seemed good to me and that's based on the crowd that was there this evening. The restaurant has a kitchen of it's own as well and it seemed to be selling food items like Fried Noodles etc. We were in the mood for hawker food and so, decided to try out some of the stalls there.
Hong Kong Shrimp Chee Cheong Fan |
Chicken Satay with Peanut Dip Sauce |
There was one stall that only sells the Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fan. It seemed to look good and we had ordered a small serving. In a matter of minutes, the dish was served. I would say that it was above average and nothing to shout about. I felt that the skin was a little too thick and that hindered us from enjoying the fillings. My rating for this shall be 6/10. There was another Chinese Uncle that was selling Satay. In fact, he only does Chicken Satay and we had ordered a few sticks. This however turned out to be good. The meat was lean and the marination was perfect. Their Peanut Dip Sauce was finely ground, mildly sweet and spicy. This preparation was definitely different when compared to the Satay prepared by a Malay operator, nevertheless it was delicious. My rating for this shall be 8/10.
Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken |
Kaya Puffs |
Near the entrance, there is an Indian gentleman that sells Nasi Lemak with a few add on's and we decided to give that a try as well. His Nasi Lemak was really good and if you ask for extra Sambal, he would really give you a generous portion of Sambal on another saucer. Being one who loves spicy food, I absolutely loved his Sambal and Nasi Lemak. The Fried Chicken however wasn't great. My recommendation would be to go for the former and skip the latter. Taste wise, I would rate his Nasi Lemak at 8/10 and Fried Chicken at 4/10. There was another stall outside the food court that was selling some pastries as well as Nyonya cakes. To take away, we had purchased some Kaya Puffs. This too wasn't to my liking. I felt that the outer crispy skin was just too thick and the amount of Kaya filling could have been more. Taste wise, I would rate this at 5/10.
MB Restaurant is a neighborhood food court that serves some good food. From what we tried this evening, I would say that the Nasi Lemak sold by the Indian gentleman along with the Chicken Satay sold by the Chinese gentleman were really good.
