Krishna Curry House @ Jalan SS9A/19, Petaling Jaya

The past few weeks, we have been coming to this restaurant a number of times and for those who are following my blogs, you must be wondering if I had signed a contract with this restaurant. The truth is that I am just hooked on to their claypot mutton dish. My parents were in town today and I decided to bring them here for lunch as I know that they too would enjoy the food here.

We arrived at 2.00 pm, pass the usual lunch hours and the place was not too packed today though there were quite a number of tables that were still occupied.

Frying Station

Curries Station

Claypot Chicken and Claypot Mutton
As always, it is my habit to check what's available for the day at the curries station. We chose the dishes and then went over to the frying station to choose our meat cuts that we wanted them to fry. I love the fried fish and cuttlefish here as I think that it is one of the best in the Klang Valley, if not the best.

Basic Banana Leaf Meal @ RM 6.00
We all went for their Banana Leaf meal. There is nothing better than getting a Banana Leaf fix on a Sunday afternoon and followed by a good nap. The spread was simple with the vegetables being just decent. I have always repeated that the vegetarian dishes here aren't so great and today was not an exception. The vegetables were just mediocre. The set comes with three vegetables, papadam, pickles and a small glass of rasam. For this basic vegetarian set, I would only rate it at 5/10 .

Fried Omelette with Onions & Chilies @ RM 3.00 each

Fried Omelette with Onions & Chilies @ RM 3.00 each
The Omelette which is just a simple dish was wonderfully prepared here. Just see how much of other ingredients were added into it. There were loads of onions and chilies added into it and it was simply superb. I would rate this at 9.4/10 .

Fried Ikan Bulus @ RM 5.00 each

Fried Ikan Bulus @ RM 5.00 each
Each of us had one of the above Fried Ikan Bulus and it was priced at RM 5.00 each. The fish was very well marinated and it was fried to a perfect crunchy crisp. Even the head was so chewy. I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Fried Tenggiri Fish @ RM 6.00 each

Fried Tenggiri Fish @ RM 6.00 each
Their Fried Tenggiri Fish was another wonderfully done dish. It was served hot and the marination was simply superb. I have tried the Fried Tenggiri Fish in a number of famous restaurants around the Klang Valley and this place always serves the best. The fish was very fresh, the spices were perfect and it was fried to perfection. Absolutely flawless!!! I would rate this at 10/10 . As a point of note, the price of the Tenggiri Fish has gone up by RM 1 since last year. Previously it used to be RM 5 each and now it's RM 6 each. Still, it is a price worth paying for.

Fried Cuttlefish @ RM 10.00

Fried Cuttlefish @ RM 10.00
The Cuttlefish is chosen at their seafood counter. The price is based on the size of the meat cut. We choose a smaller one today as we had a number of dishes and it was priced at RM 10.00 . The preparation was fantastic. Loved the way it was fried to a crisp. The spices and batter used to coat was also perfect. Definitely one of the best fried cuttlefish preparations in the Klang Valley. I would rate this at 9.6/10 .

Claypot Mutton (Big) @ RM 20.00

Claypot Mutton (Big) @ RM 20.00
This is my all time favourite at this restaurant. Without fail, I must order this dish every time I come here and today too, this dish was simply fantastic. The red thick gravy was heavenly spiced along with a mixture of mutton chunks and bones, made this dish a heavenly treat. I am yet to see a restaurant that prepares this dish better. As always, this dish scores a perfect 10/10 . A must try dish!!!

Lunch in Progress
The vegetables aside, the rest of the meal was perfect as expected. Somehow, all their meaty dishes are consistent in taste since the first time I dined at this restaurant some 19 years ago. For the four of us, the total bill came to RM 80.00 which I feel is quite reasonable for the number of dishes.  Love the food here and would return again for more.
