Restoran Wen Tong Wantan Mee @ Bandar Puchong Jaya, Puchong

Puchong is a place that has loads of good food. Unfortunately, since it is located quite far from my place, I hardly go around there scouting for food unless, I have an appointment like today and I usually would fully utilize it by checking out some of the good eateries there. My meeting today was around Jalan Kenari area and as I was early, I decided to check out the food scene here and that is when I came across this restaurant.

This restaurant is supposed to be specialising in Wan Tan Mee and they cater for breakfast to tea time and close around 5 pm daily. They have a huge outdoor seating area which specially caters for smokers and a small indoor seating area.

Their Menu

Their Menu
Their menu is a simple two sided card, on one side is the list of available food items and on the reverse, is their drinks menu. They have a number of different Wan Tan Mee varieties and a few other items which are sold at different hours of the day, mostly for breakfast. Ordering was simple as the lady boss was quite helpful and she stood by my side the entire time that I was glancing their menu.

White Coffee @ RM 2.60
It's been some time that I had the White Coffee and decided to go for it. Their coffee was quite good, not on the sweet side and it was rich and creamy. Definitely a perfect fix. I would rate this at 9.2/10 .

Char Siew Wan Tan Mee (Medium) @ RM 6.80

Char Siew Wan Tan Mee (Medium) @ RM 6.80

Thin Cuts of Char Siew

All Mixed Up

Pickled Chilies
For the portion size, the price was definitely on the high side. The Wan Tan Noodles were the homemade type and this was confirmed by the lady boss. It was soft and springy, just the way they should be. The vegetables too were fresh and that's a plus point for them. The Char Siew too was quite nice, but I would not say that it was excellent. Overall, it was a satisfying plate of Wan Tan Mee, not the best that I have tried, but good by KL standards. I would rate this at 8.9/10 .

Dumpling and Special Pork Balls
Their other dumplings had to go in a 5 piece set and having wanted to try as many items as possible, I ordered two of their Wan Tons and two of their Special Pork Balls which came in a clear soup. The clear soup was good and it must have been boiled with chicken feet. I would rate their clear soup at 8.7/10 .

Wan Ton Dumplings @ RM 1.30 each
The Wan Ton Dumplings were just above average for me. The fillings were just too little and it lacked character. I would only rate this at 7/10 . I also feel that it is quite expensive based on the size of it.

Special Pork Balls @ RM 1.30 each
The Pork Balls instead were very good, in fact it was excellent. It was so chewy and the amount of meat used to make it was simply beyond satisfying. Not to miss this when you are here. I would rate this at 9.2/10 .

Fried Dumpling @ RM 6.80 for 5 pieces

Fried Dumpling @ RM 6.80 for 5 pieces

Chili Sauce Provided
The Fried Dumplings come in a set of 5 priced at RM 6.80 per set. Personally, I feel that it's on the high side but taste wise, it was pretty good. The dumplings were crispy and the filling was simply delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Overall, it was a good meal. The Wan Tan Mee was nice and the dumplings too were good. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and specifically if you are looking for a quick meal.
