Restoran Zhan Rong @ Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur

Restoran Zhan Rong was a restaurant that we came across by chance in Desa Petaling, while we were heading to Seremban. This restaurant is located inside the Business Centre along Jalan 8/125D. There are a number of Chinese restaurants here if you keep going around in circles and this one is located on the far end of the cluster of buildings.

Initially I thought of going to Seremban and having our lunch but since it was late, we decided to turn in to Desa Petaling to look for a place for lunch. The only setback here is the limitation of parking spaces. There was another restaurant behind this but the food was not really impressive and hence we walked over to this restaurant. They occupy two shop lots and have both indoor and covered outdoor seating areas. The indoor seating area is a smoke free zone and the outdoor area is a smoker friendly zone. In fact, at every table, you would be able to see ashtrays. What surprised us is that all the stalls here were at the verge of being sold out or already sold out despite the time being only 12.30 noon. It seems that this is not only the case at this restaurant but almost all Chinese restaurants in this area. They seemed to be catering more for Breakfast and whatever left over, is sold by lunch time. Many of the stalls that we approached, had just like one last plate left and they were only able to serve one more person. Somehow, we managed to place our orders, though each of us had different dishes not by choice, but because of what was available.

Coca Cola @ RM 2.00

Chinese Tea @ RM 0.50
Just like most Chinese Restaurants, the drinks are supplied by the landlords. The price was reasonable and it was served quite fast.

Fish Head Noodle @ RM 6.50

Fish Head Noodle @ RM 6.50
This too was the last available bowl that they could serve. The Fish Head Noodles were good and tasted great. It would have been better if more fish was added to it, otherwise a good preparation. The price too seems reasonable. I would rate this at 8/10 .

Curry Mee @ RM 5.50

Curry Mee @ RM 5.50
Just like the previous dish, this too was the last available bowl of noodles. The Curry Mee was good, in fact much better than the Fish Head Noodles. The ingredients added were nothing much, just the usual items and topped with shredded chicken. But the Curry itself, was delicious. I would rate this Curry Mee at 8.7/10 .

Claypot Lou Shee Fun @ RM 5.50

This guy had a few more bowl available and I could see that from the number of customers that were placing orders with him. The Loh Shee Fun was good, in fact better than many of the famous places. He has added things like Crab Stick, Cuttlefish Balls etc. making it to taste unique. The broth was also quite good and he was also lavish with the minced meat. Definitely a good bowl of Loh Shee Fun. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Although food items were about to finish, the lunch that we had was a satisfactory one. Perhaps if we had come earlier, there would have been more variety to try from. Nevertheless, it was a satisfactory meal.
