Sushi Zanmai @ Subang Jaya, Selangor

When it comes to good Japanese Restaurants that are located in shopping malls, Sushi Zanmai is my choice. Of course, you get a lot more out there from Japanese restaurants that specialise in specific food items but these are located mostly in Kuala Lumpur. Being located on this side of the city, there isn't much choice but to patronise these franchises. Nevertheless, Sushi Zanmai has been one of those that offers consistently good food across their outlets. 

Located On Level 2, The Main Place

Ocha (Green Tea)

A Pitcher Of Ocha @ RM 1.20

This outlet is located on the 2nd Floor of The Main Place. Despite having taken up three units, most of the time you would have to queue up during peak hours. That's why I would always like to come here a little early, similar to what we did today. We were here at 11 am for an early lunch and even then, they were almost full house. Service levels are excellent across all their restaurants and their staffs know their stuffs well. We ordered some Green Tea and they served us a pitcher each which was only priced at RM 1.20 . That's total value for money. And I am very impressed with how they use robotics to deliver the dishes to you. Very impressive overall management. 

Chawanmushi @ RM 5.80

Salmon Don @ RM 17.80

As always, their Chawanmushi was up to the mark. The steamed egg was just perfect and it literally melts in your mouth. The add on's were an assortment of seafood items and it was just perfect. My rating for this shall be 9/10. Salmon Don is another homelike dish that you get here. Fresh Salmon cuts served with rice and it was delicious. Not to forget how fresh the slices were. Again, another one that I would rate 9/10. 

Ebi Mentaiyaki @ 18.80

Saba Shioyaki @ RM 15.80

Sake Zanmai @ RM 29.80

Ebi Mentaiyaki was an awesome dish. Two huge prawns topped with cheese and char-grilled to perfection. A dash of lemon is squeezed just before serving. The overall flavours were just awesome and the prawns were so fresh. I wouldn't mind having more of these the next time. 9/10 is my rating for this dish. Saba Shioyaki is another all time favourite of mine and again, it was another excellent dish. Absolutely no flaws in the preparation and it tasted so juicy and good. 9/10 would be my rating for this. Sake Zanmai is an assortment of Sushi's. There were 5 varieties and they were all fresh, perfectly presented and awesome flavours. Each one had a unique taste of it's own. Again, I shall rate these at 9/10.   

The Bill

Despite being a chain of restaurants, I am very impressed with the consistency of taste and service levels across their outlets. Each and every food item that we had ordered was good, neatly presented and was total value for money. A highly recommended restaurant.
