Restoran Best Flavour Seafood Restaurant is one that had been open for about a year or so now but somehow, we never visited this restaurant. It is located quite a distance from town and that could be one reason why we had never visited them. For the sake of giving the place a try, we decided to drop by for lunch this afternoon.
The Restaurant Located Along Jalan Wangsa Jaya |
Simple Set Up |
This restaurant is located in Taman Wangsa Jaya and faces the main trunk road heading towards Ipoh. Their neighbours are the famous Restoran Ibrahim Ghani which is an offsrping of Restoran Ghani that is located in town. There were a handful of customers when we arrived. Not much of a menu here, it's pretty much what you order and the person waiting the tables seemed to be quite helpful in giving suggestions and that was good as we managed to learn about their signature dishes.
Vegetable In Eggy Broth |
Butter Prawns |
When we had asked for a veggie dish, he kept mentioning the usual names like Kangkung Belacan, Sawi, Kailan etc and we wanted to try something different. That was when he mentioned this vegetable and it's called Sayur Ubat. Not sure what the original name of this veggie is but apparently it has some medicinal benefits. Curious to try, we decided to go for that. It was prepared in a eggy broth, something like what you would usually get with Cantonese Style Noodles. The veggie itself had a silky smooth texture but taste wise, it was quite bland. Nevertheless, the combination of the veggie and the broth went well and my rating for this preparation shall be 8/10. Definitely not a dish that all would enjoy but I am sure that those who are used to this taste would like the preparation. The other dish that we had ordered were Butter Prawns. They had used reasonably large prawns and the quantity was generous. The dish was perfectly done and we absolutely enjoyed the flavours. I would definitely rate this dish at 9/10.
Sizzling Homemade Beancurd |
Steamed Tilapia Fish with Bird Eye Chilies and Ginger |
We also tried their Sizzling Tofu. At first, we had asked for the Japanese Tofu but they didn't have it. Alternatively, they recommended us to try their own version of Tofu which is made by them. Texture wise, I felt that it was very similar to the Japanese Tofu and the mix of ingredients were lavish. Overall, it was a good dish and we enjoyed it very much. My rating for this shall be 9/10. The last dish that we had ordered is Steamed Tilapia Fish with Bird Eye Chilies and Ginger. This combination is quite rare in Tanjung Malim and apparently, it is their house specialty and I am truly glad that we had ordered this dish. It was so good so much so, we enjoyed every bit of it. A dish that I would highly recommend and my rating for this shall be 10/10. If you're wondering, the total bill came to RM 87.00 for this meal.
Best Flavour Seafood Restaurant does serve some very good food. Prices are slightly on the high side but still, I would say that it was totally worth it. Sizzling Tofu, Butter Prawns and their Steamed Tilapia Fish with Bird Eye Chilies and Ginger were three dishes that we enjoyed and that last dish that I mentioned was exceptionally good.
