From Gua Charas, we were heading towards Raub which would be our halt for the night and along the way, we decided to visit Sungai Lembing town. Once upon a time, this was a buzzing town where gold mining was one of the main activities here. After decades, the town has literally stood still in time and in return, that has become the main attraction here. Besides the museums and many other attractions that you could visit, Sungai Lembing town has some very unique and delicious Chinese food to offer. Since it was a rather brief stop, we could only visit one of the eateries here which I shall be sharing today.

Look Out For This Sign |
This stall is located somewhere in the middle of the row of stalls that you could see earlier. They are located right in the centre of town as well and it's hard to miss them. In fact, when you walk into this food court, the crowd would be mostly seated at this stall and that way, you would definitely be able to find them. They are open from 7 am till 2 pm daily and if you're planning on having lunch here, then please do come early as their food items tends to get sold quite fast.

Hokkien Mee @ RM 6.00 |
|
Tomato Sauce Noodles @ RM 6.00 |
The are three signature dishes here and they are Hokkien Mee, Tomato Sauce Noodles and Dried Chilli Noodles and we decided to try all of them. The first one that we tried was their Hokkien Mee. This was rather different compared to what we would naturally get in the Klang Valley. The noodles was thinner and flatter, something like Pan Mee but not really the same and it came with lot's of sauces. In fact, the guy that prepared it said that the one's that you get in KL is not nice because it lacks sauce. Here, it comes with abundance of sauce and that's how the local's like it. To be honest, I found it to be pretty good and totally different to the ones that I have been used to. I won't say that one is better than the other, for me both are unique and I enjoy both versions. If I were to rate this dish, I would give it 9/10. The next dish that we tried was their Tomato Sauce Noodles. This is something that I have never had before. Very unique flavours, and true enough, it is made using Tomato Sauce. The noodles are the crispy version and the broth was slightly sweet and sour. Very unique taste and a must try when you visit Sungai Lembing. My rating for this shall be 9/10 as well.

Dried Chili Noodles @ RM 6.00 |
The last dish that we tried is their Dried Chili Noodles. This was again something very different. The usual Char Mee prepared with lots of lard and dried chilies and they were definitely spicy. A dish that is not for those who can't palate spicy flavours. Another excellent one to try here and my rating for this shall also be 9/10.
If you're visiting Sungai Lembing, I would recommend visiting Chee Chieh Meen Toh which is located right in the middle of the town. Their three signature noodle dishes which is their Dried Chilli Noodles, Tomato Sauce Noodles and a localised version of Hokkien Char Mee are a must try. Reasonably priced and they are something unique that is not to be found elsewhere. A must visit stall when you are in Sungai Lembing.
