Restoran San Cia is a good place to have Chicken Rice or any roasted meat in Tanjung Malim. A no frills restaurant, the Chef has been showcased in a number of shows as well as numerous newspaper write ups on their roasted meats which includes chicken, duck and roasted pork.

Being a popular neighbourhood restaurant, it is best to come here early for lunch as by 2 pm, most of the items are already sold out. The restaurant is a simple, no frills restaurant that delivers good food and at very reasonable prices.

We were late this afternoon and by that time, their Roasted Pork was already sold out. The Roasted Pork here is one of the hot items that sells very fast. In fact, when good Roasted Pork is needed for prayers, the locals would place orders a few days ahead to ensure that their order is secured and delivered when needed. Ordering your meal here is quite straightforward, just come over to the meat station and pick your choice of meats and then it is sent over to the table.

There would be a number of similar newspaper write ups that have been framed and hung on the walls of the restaurant. Not many would expect a simple restaurant like this to be able to serve excellent food that has attracted the media's attention.

For convenience, the food prices are also listed so no one can argue about these prices later. Do note that the price of Roasted Chicken and Duck have gone up slightly. Roasted Chicken is priced at RM 33 per bird and half bird is priced at RM 18. Roasted Duck is priced at RM 47 for a full bird and half bird is now priced at RM 25.

The drinks were served quite fast, in fact almost immediately and the food arrived in less than 10 minutes from the time of order.

The Roasted Chicken as you can see was moist and juicy and despite it having been roasted, it was perfectly moist and that brought about all the juices to be intact. Some places, you would find to be dry but that was not the case here. The Roasted Chicken was definitely very good and stood up to it's reputation. I would rate their Roasted Chicken at 9/10 . The homemade Chili paste too was quite okay but it was not spicy enough for me. I would only rate that at 7.5/10 .

We also ordered another plate which was the combination of Char Siew and Roasted Duck which came at RM 20.00 . Sad that I could not try their Siew Yuk today as it was sold out.

Their Char Siew was good, in fact very good. I loved the flavours that came out of every bite and it was just perfect. I would rate this at 9.8/10 .

The Roasted Duck was another treat. Being a duck lover, this dish was just fantastic. The meat was tender and juicy and not rubbery like what you find in some places. The skin was crispy and together, it was heavenly. I would rate this at 9.6/10 .

The mixed vegetable dish was served complimentary. It was nicely prepared and had a mixture of carrots, cabbage and so hoon. Overall a good dish and deserves a rating of 8/10 .

This dish again was served complimentary. I loved the way the greens were cooked as they were still crispy and not over cooked. Another good dish that deserves a rating of 8.2/10 .
Overall, I am definitely impressed in what this very ordinary restaurant is capable of and they have definitely proved to me today that they are experts in roasted meats. If you are in this part of the country, I would recommend a brief stop here and to try their meats yourself. Definitely, you would be impressed.
