Restoran Garden Seafood needs no introduction to the people of Tanjung Malim, Perak. In fact, it wouldn't be wrong to say that many people in the Klang Valley have heard or at least visited this place once as well. They are the first to introduce the Chinese Halal Restaurant concept in the country. They are so famous so much so four our of Prime Ministers have visited this restaurant.

The Restaurant In Taman Wangsa Utama |
This restaurant is located away from town and that being said, parking is rather easy. This restaurant belongs to a classmate of mine and over the years, business has been really good so much so, they now occupy three shop lots. Not only do you get people from Kuala Lumpur who visit them over the weekends, you also do get busloads of tourists. Prices have been incessantly going up over the years and now, it has become a premium restaurant. This evening was no exception either. There were at least buses filled with tourists that were dining there. Despite that, they were sufficiently staffed and service was a breeze.

Ginger & Egg Soup @ RM 15.00 |
|
Marmite Chicken @ RM 30.00 |
Ginger & Egg Soup is a signature dish here and the preparation is excellent. One of those soups that is deep bodied, slightly spicy and has a gingery aftertaste. The flavours are just amazing and it is a must have for us each time we are here. My rating for this shall be 9/10. Their Marmite Chicken seemed a little pathetic today. For the portions, I would definitely say that the price was expensive. A rather simple dish and we locals don't usually pay this kind of price at any other restaurant in town. For me, I would rate this dish at 6/10.
|
Sweet & Sour Prawns @ RM 123.00 |
|
Mantau Bun @ RM 4.80 |
This Sweet & Sour Prawns is another famous dish at this restaurant, nevertheless the price is surely exorbitant. However taste wise, it's surely good and the Mantau Bun complements this dish so well. My rating for this dish shall be 9/10 and the Bun would be 8/10.

Honey Glazed Squid @ RM 30.00 |
|
Dried Chili Cashew Mantis Prawns @ RM 25.00 |
|
Kam Heong Lala @ RM 24.00 |
Their Honey Glazed Squid was tasty and for the price, the portion was very reasonable unlike the Chicken dish. Perfectly coated with honey and deep fried to just the right level. 8/10 shall be my rating for this dish. Dried Chili Cashew Mantis Prawns was just okay. The Mantis Prawns were a little over soaked and that killed the flavours. It should have been a little more crispy. 5/10 would be my rating for this dish. Kam Heong Lala was good. They were generous with the ingredients and they had used the large Pacific Clams which turned out to be really good. 8/10 shall be my rating for this dish.
|
Deep Fried Tofu with Minced Chicken @ RM 20.00 |
|
Hong Kong Kailan with Garlic @ RM 22.00 |
This Deep Fried Tofu with Minced Chicken is another favourite of ours and the preparation at this restaurant has been good. Very generous with the topping as well. My rating for this dish shall be 8/10. Similarly, their Hong Kong Kailan with Garlic is another highly sought after dish at this restaurant. The preparation is perfect and not too greasy. Again one that deserves a rating of 8/10.

Bill For The Day |
Despite the ever increasing prices, the food has somehow been good though there may have been up's and downs every now and then. If you compare the prices that you would pay for the same in Kuala Lumpur, then this place can be considered cheap and that is a key reason why you get lot's of crowd from Kuala Lumpur over the weekends. Comparatively, they are still one of the best Halal Chinese Restaurants in the country.
