In the mood for Dim Sum, we headed to Damansara Jaya to try this place that is overly popular so much so, during the weekends, it takes about an hour just to get a table and usually a queue management system is in place. The name of this restaurant is Restaurant Jin Xuan Hong Kong and they have a number of outlets across the Klang Valley. I was also told that the owners are from Hong Kong and the preparation of the dishes very much follows Hong Kong style. Having heard much positive reviews of this place, we decided to try it out. For me, I prefer to have Dim Sum at nights as opposed to the norms of having them in the morning. This restaurant is conducive for that as they open till 11 pm daily.

Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong at Damansara Jaya |
|
The Entrance |
It is not very difficult to find this restaurant in Damansara Jaya It is located along the same row as Ipoh Chicken Rice and right beside Maybank. The set up is very posh with the restaurant occupying three shot lots. They even have a dedicated security guard looking after the cars of the patrons. They also offer Car Jockey services. This in itself says that their business is very good, they would be pricey and a lot of VIP's dine here.Having prepared mentally to receive a big bill, we went into the restaurant.

Interior of the restaurant |
The interior of the restaurant was very posh. Plaster ceiling, wooden flooring and centralised air condition added a cosy feel to the atmosphere. There was a huge partitioned area where you could see the kitchen staff working and they seemed so busy. The place was buzzing with at least 30 foreign workers serving customers and clearing the plates from earlier in the day. They must have had a very busy morning and this was evident from the used plates that were stacked near the walkway to the toilets.

Cutlery |
I must admit that they were very efficient here and used to handling massive crowd. The moment we were seated, we were handed the menu and the self fill in chit for us to place the orders. Once it had been filled, we would just press the service bell and a waiter would attend to us in less than 30 seconds. He would then recapitulate the orders and proceed to the kitchen. Another waiter would then serve the cutlery and all this happens so seamlessly like a dance. I was totally impressed with the service. I went through the menu and did find the price to be on the high side. Most dishes which would come in three pieces elsewhere only comes in two pieces here. Well, if it tastes good, we are surely willing to pay. Lets wait and see then.

Sugar Cane Tea @ RM 4.00 |
Angie ordered this Sugar Cane Tea. They have these in prepacked plastic cups and offer a number of variety. They are kept in a heating glass cabinet thus keeping them warm. Surely adds a touch of class with the neat packaging. The drink however was very good too. It was pure with no preservatives or additives. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Winter Melon Tea @ RM 4.00 |
The above was my drink and again, this was good too. I would rate this also at 8.5/10 .

Stuffed Chillies @ RM 4.00 |
|
Lotus Leaf Rice @ RM 3.60 |
|
Thai Style Dumpling @ RM 4.50 |
|
Custard Buns @ RM 4.50 |
|
Heavenly Filling |
|
Siew Mai @ RM 3.60 |
|
Char Siew Bao @ RM 4.50 |
Well, the food here was good. Though the number of pieces per dish may be less, the size of each dumpling was bigger than common standards. The steamed stuffed Chillies were good. The Lotus Leaf Rice was very good. The Custard Buns were heavenly. The best that I have ever tried. The Thai Style Dumpling was just average and the Char Siew Bao was good. The bun was fluffy and soft. The Siew Mai was also good. Now I realise why this place is so famous for Dim Sum. I definitely would not be one who comes here on Saturday or Sunday mornings and queue up for an hour just to get a table although the Dim Sum here is great. But I believe, dinner is ideal as there is much lesser crowd during these hours. Overall the bill today came to RM 36.30 . Here they charge a 5% Service Charge and then 6% Service Tax. The guy at the counter was calculating my bill twice and I realised why. My bill was probably the smallest bill for the day. When I was in line to pay the bill, most of the bills were above a hundred ringgit. Well, with just the two of us, there surely is a limit as to what we could consume.
