Kedai Makanan Dan Minuman Pao Hou Sik is a new restaurant that had started in Tanjung Malim. Located along Lorong Zaaba which is in the heart of town, they are open daily from 6.30 am till 11.00 pm.

A Simple Set Up |
When I had visited them last week, they had a number of stalls being set up but only one was functional and they were selling Steamed Chicken Rice. I believe the rest would be opening soon and from my observation, the rest of the stalls that were yet to open were a Chinese Mixed Rice Stall, a Porridge Stall and another Noodle Stall.
Butter Rice |
Chilli Paste |
I was surprised to see that they serve their customers Butter Rice instead of the usual White Rice. Only speciality stalls do this and I was impressed with the taste of it. It was so creamy that I would not mind eating the rice alone. Very delicious preparation and my rating for this shall be 9/10. Their Chilli Paste however was a little watery. It had that tangy spicy feel to it but it just wasn't potent. My rating for this shall be 7/10.
Steamed Chicken In Soy Sauce @ RM 6.00 (including rice) |
The basic Chicken Rice Set was priced at RM 6.00 which seemed quite reasonable to me. The portion of the Steamed Chicken was generous and they were very generous with the sauces too. The meat was tender, juicy and even the skin was tasty. Though I would still say that Rudy does the best Steamed Chicken in Tanjung Malim, this too is almost there. My rating for this is 8/10.
Bean Sprouts in Soy Sauce @ RM 2.00 |
For those who would love to have their Chicken Rice with some Bean Sprouts, this option is available as well. For RM 2.00 , you get a generous amount of Bean Sprouts which is good for two. The Bean Sprouts were crispy and fresh, although it would not be fair to compare this to the Ipoh Bean Sprouts. Rating wise, I would give this 7/10.
Kedai Makanan & Minuman Pao Hou Sik is the latest Chinese restaurant to open in Tanjung Malim and they are located along Lorong Zaaba, which is not too far away from the bus station. At present, they only sell one dish and that is Steamed Chicken Rice. Their preparation was good and the rice was impressive. Very generous with the portions too. Although my vote is still for Rudy who does the best Steamed Chicken in town, it is worth giving these guys a try as they were almost there taste wise.

This is another one of your best recommendations. We had a hearty meal sitting at this very simple set up. We would go back there another few times before heading back.
