Puffs Garden Cafe is a bakery cum cafe that has been around for ages now. Usually, I would do a takeaway unless when I visit their outlet in Solaris Dutamas which I have blogged about before but this is the first time that I am dining in at the original outlet in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya.

There isn't much facilities for those who are dining here and the set up is very basic, seems like the same furniture and cutlery is used ever since they started this outlet. Despite being air conditioned, it is very hot here and they mostly keep the air conditioner switched off until a customer comes in and it is only switched on when they decide to dine in instead of the common take aways. Even then, I would say that their air conditioning unit seriously needs some servicing.

It seems that they do not stock up like last time, only a few pieces of each are made and stacked on the counter. They would then fry the puffs as and when the stock depletes. This may indicate that their sales may have gone down but in a way, it is good as we are almost guaranteed to get fresh puffs every time. The counter is manned to two Burmese guys who seem to be moving at snail speed. They also seem very blur and it took me a few times of repetition to ensure that I get the ones that I had ordered. Even for dine ins, you would have to go to the counter to order and they do not come out of that area to even serve you.

Sugar |
A small cup of coffee came at the price of RM 6.90 which is on the expensive side of things. Even for this, they provided us only a sachet of sugar each and I had to go to them a few times asking for more and the waiter even asked me why I need more sugar. How I want my coffee to taste is up to me and why should it be any of his problem or even concern how much sugar I add. For a small cup of coffee, you charge me a premium price. The coffee ain't so great either and would it deplete your profit margin at all if I ask for another two sachets of sugar. Ridiculous. I would rate their coffee at only 5/10 .

Chocolate Tart @ RM 2.60 |
Their Chocolate Tart was just average. I found it to be too dry and was below my expectations. I would rate this at only 4.5/10 .

Curry Chicken Puff @ RM 2.50 |

Curry Chicken Puff @ RM 2.50 |
Their Curry Chicken Puff had been consistent and was up to my expectations. I would definitely say that this is one of the top five Curry Chicken Puffs that is available in the Klang Valley, though I would prefer not to name the rest here as this blog is specific to this Puffs Garden. The puffs were filled with potato's and even had some boiled egg in it. Excellent flavours! I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Sardine Puff @ RM 2.50 |

Sardine Puff @ RM 2.50 |
The Sardine Puff was again very satisfying. It was filled with real sardines and not onions only. Packed with a delightful taste, this is once again one of the best Sardine Puffs available in the Klang Valley. Highly recommended and I would rate this at 9.7/10 .
Overall, I would definitely come back here for their Curry Chicken Puffs and Sardine Puffs but I highly doubt it if it would be a dine in. Seems like these waiters are not skilled at handling dine in customers and moreover, the environment in the restaurant is not cosy nor inviting for one to sit and have a comfortable meal, especially with the broken stone age air conditioning. I would rather get their puffs and head over to the Indian Muslim restaurant next door and have them there with some good tea or coffee.

Hi Parameswari, this place is in Damansara Utama.
DeleteSo which are the other 4 of your top 5 curry puff outlets?
ReplyDeleteShall definitely do a compilation of the best puffs in town soon, since you specially mentioned it here. :)
DeleteYes would love to see many compilations of the food you've tasted! like best nasi lemaks, best teh tariks and so on. on another note,so rude of the waiter to be stingy with the sugar and ask u a question like that! The sardine puff definitely looks inviting but with waiters like that, how la?
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do the same too....would definitely work on one soon. Oh yes, Nasi Lemak's are my favourite too :) Sadly yes :(
DeleteDamamsara already closed down..anyone know where can find them..missed their durian puff
