Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong @ Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

My dad was down this evening and we were in the mood for something not too heavy. As you know, the number of places where Dim Sum is available at night is rather limited and hence I decided to bring him to this place in Damansara Utama. I usually go to their outlet in Damansara Jaya but just decided to come here for a change of venue.

Looking At What To Order

The Order Chit
Located along the same row as Public Bank in Damansara Utama, this outlet is not as big as the one in Damansara Utama but still rather comfortable. The decoration is almost identical. The service as always has been very satisfactory and the moment we took our place, we were attended to by the waiter. Here, unlike the other road side Dim Sum places where they would be bringing tray after tray filled with Dim Sum, you would have to order from the menu and then fill in the order chit which would then be handed over to the waiter.

Herbal Tea @ RM 4.00 each

Herbal Tea @ RM 4.00 each
They have a limited number of drinks here and most often, I would stick to either their Herbal Tea or Sugar Cane drink. This time, we ordered their Herbal Tea. This is a homemade preparation and is excellent. Though slightly on the high side when it comes to the price, the drink is really good. I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

Their menu is user friendly as they have pictures of every dish right beside the listings. The price is slightly pricey but then taste wise it has always been good (based on my experience from their other outlets). We placed the orders and the dishes started arriving in after 15 minutes.

Fried Yam Pastry @ RM 4.50

Fried Yam Pastry @ RM 4.50
The Fried Yam Pastry was excellent. For the price of RM 4.50 per plate, there were two Fried Balls which were cut into two. The fillings were full of flavours and loaded with Char Siew and Yam. Definitely a treat to Yam lovers. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Marmite Spareribs @ RM 12.00

Marmite Spareribs @ RM 12.00
Their Marmite Spareribs was nice but not great, I have definitely tried much better ones in other places. There was not much meat attached to the ribs too though the flavouring was perfect. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Siu Mai @ RM 4.50

Siu Mai @ RM 4.50
Their Siu Mai was good, but somehow I feel that the preparation in their Damansara Jaya outlet is better. It was fresh and juicy but just lacked the finishing punch. I would rate this at 8/10 .

Teochew Siu Mai @ RM 4.50

Teochew Siu Mai @ RM 4.50
Their Teochew Siu Mai was much better, in fact it was really good. Unlike the normal Siu Mai which is made of prawns, this is made of pork. The flavourings were much better here and it was delicious. Definitely a recommended dish. I would rate this at 9.4/10 .

Steamed Fishballs @ RM 4.50

Steamed Fishballs @ RM 4.50
Another delicious dish here, but surely pricey. The Fish Balls were very fresh, soft and filled with flavours. Definitely a dish that won our hearts. I would rate this at 9.8/10 .

Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf @ RM 4.50

Their Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf was heavenly! One of the best that I have tried. It was filled with salted eggs, meat and other ingredients. Fantastic preparation and a highly recommended dish here. I would rate this at 10/10 .

Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal here tonight. The total bill came to RM 46.75 for two which may seem on the high side but the dishes and the taste was good. Definitely a place that I would return but somehow I still prefer their Damansara Jaya outlet as parking is much easier there at nights and the restaurant is much more spacious too. Nevertheless, this is still a good place to visit.
