Srri Tanjung Carry Hse is a Tamil Restaurant in Tanjung Malim that has gained popularity in the recent years. Having opened for just over two years now, the owner, a former schoolmate, has now opened a second restaurant in another area in town. This is just a simple restaurant and is the only Tamil restaurant, not including the Indian Muslim restaurants, that is open 24 hours daily. You get all the typical food that you get at a Tamil restaurant and the prices are quite reasonable. You would find lots of people who come here for a quick meal and even those that spend hours chit chatting over a cup of tea.

Interior of the restaurant |
Although owned by a Malaysian Tamil, most of the workers here are from Tamil Nadu, India. The layout and design is quite standard like any other Indian restaurant and the cleanliness is quite acceptable.

Horlicks @ RM 2.00 |
The Horlicks was quite good and for the price of RM 2.00 per glass, it is quite reasonable. I would rate their Horlicks at 8.5/10 .
|
Teh Tarik @ RM 1.30 |
I would not say that their Teh Tarik was fantastic but it was good. Slightly sweet, I would rate this at 7.9/10 .
|
Nescafe @ RM 1.50 |
Their Nescafe was better than their Horlicks and Teh Tarik. I would rate this at 8.8/10 .
|
Roti Canai @ RM 1.00 each |
|
Sambar |
The Roti Canai was decent but slightly smaller than the market standards. Maybe, the lower than market price of RM 1.00 per Roti Canai was a catch to attract people and hence the reduction in size. I would rate their Roti Canai at 7.8/10 . Their Sambar however was quite good. It had the right amount of ingredients and tasted great. I would rate their Sambar at 9/10 .
|
Tosai @ RM 1.50 |
Their Tosai was really huge and worth the price of RM 1.50 paid. Taste wise too, it was quite good and had very minimal oil. I would rate their Tosai at 8.9/10 .
|
Onion Oothappam @ RM 2.00 |
|
Onion Oothappam @ RM 2.00 |
Their Onion Oothappam was just decent. Oothappam should be thicker but here it was thinner than usual. But, there was a lavish amount of onions in it. That was the only satisfaction from this. I would rate their Onion Oothappam at 6/10 .
|
Chapati with Extra Ghee @ RM 1.50 |
Their normal Chapati is priced at RM 1.20 each and for extra ghee, there is an addition of 30 cents. Their Chapati however was good for a Tamil restaurant. It was fluffy and the extra ghee really boosted the taste. It was good and I would rate this at 8.7/10 . The only setback is that they do not serve potato curry to go with the Chapatis as that would have been really great. Nevertheless, it's a good tasting bread.

Chicken Perattal @ RM 4.00 |
Since they did not have Potato Kuttu, I decided to have the Chapati with their Chicken Perattal. A plate of the above cost of RM 4.00 which is slightly pricey for a small town like Tanjung Malim but the Chicken Perattal was really good. The Chicken was meaty with minimal bones and the gravy was aromatic and delicious. A good preparation that deserves a rating of 8.9/10 .
From the food items that I tried tonight, I have mixed sentiments about the food here but overall it was satisfying. Some were good, some average and some a let down, still this is a decent place to have a quick meal.
