As a brief point of introduction, Restoran Ah Lek Seafood Restaurant is the latest entry among the Chinese Seafood scene in Tanjung Malim. This restaurant is located on the Ulu Bernam side of Tanjung Malim which comes under Selangor, just along Jalan Changkat Asa. They have been open for about 3 months now and they seem to have quite a number of flyers going around town on their Seafood promotions. For those who have been following my blogs, you may remember me blogging about this restaurant sometime last week where we had a not so great dining experience which I assumed that it might have been due to the wrong dishes being ordered, items which are not their hot selling dishes. I always am fair to restaurant operators and generally would go back twice or thrice just to confirm. Sometimes, the first day might have just been an honest mistake but if the same pattern repeats, then of course it confirms the initial assumption. Since it is New Years Day today, my Dad, brother and I decided to come here for a seafood dinner.

Ongoing Promotions |
Their seafood promotions which were supposed to be until the 31st of December, has been extended indefinitely. That is good as we came here specifically for seafood tonight.

Despite the fact that it had been 9 pm, the place was still crowded. Though past the usual dinner hours, I was surprised to see such a crowd still being here and more and more customers were walking in. Crowd management here is really good and however busy they are, they are prompt in attending to customers needs which is simply fantastic. Just raise your hand and a waiter is by your side in no time.

Coca Cola @ RM 2.00 |
Usually we would be ordering a few dishes to go with rice but today we decided to keep it strictly seafood and no rice. Just plain and simple dishes. Though they were busy, all the dishes arrived within 20 minutes and they all looked great. Now time to get the hands dirty.

Kam Heong Clams @ RM 15.00 |
For the price of RM 15.00, the portion was big and it tasted really good. Definitely nowhere near what the dishes tasted like the other day. The gravy was lavish and had seeped in well into the clams. An absolute delight! I would rate this at 9/10 .

Steamed Tilapia Fish (Cheong Cheng) @ RM 17.80 |
The Tilapia fish was huge, 1.5 Kg's and it was priced at RM 17.80 which is an absolutely cheap price. The Chili Paste too tasted very good. A very impressive dish and I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Salted Egg Crabs @ RM 67.20 |
1.4 Kg's of Mangrove crabs cooked with salted eggs and they were heavenly! The cook had ensured that the shell was mostly broken allowing the topping to blend well with the meat. The price equals what we get at places like Kuala Selangor and Carey Island and it tasted delicious. Good stuff and I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

The Bill For This Evening's Meal |
On the whole, it was definitely a wonderful dinner and all of us thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes. Clearly, we had made a mistake in ordering the wrong dishes here the last time. This place is a haven for seafood dishes and we are hooked onto the taste. The price too is quite cheap if not reasonable, the staffs are very friendly and the food is great. What more would one want in a restaurant. Definitely a place that we shall be patronising more often going forward.
