Sarimah's Kitchen @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Sarimah's Kitchen is a restaurant that is famous for their Northern Style Malay food. This restaurant is located in CBD Perdana 2 area, just a few doors away from Bank Islam. The place is mostly crowded during lunch hours and throughout the business hours, parking can be a challenge in this area.

Sarimah's Kitchen in CBD 2 Area

Teh O Ais
Despite being just a few doors away from my office, I had never had the chance to visit them before. However as I had some work in Bank Islam today, I decided to drop by for lunch but sadly, by 2.30 pm most of the food had been sold out and all that they had was the fried stuff. Having had no choice, I decided to go for Nasi Goreng Kampung. I ordered a glass of Teh O Ais as well and as expected, it was good. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Nasi Goreng Kampung

Nasi Goreng Kampung
In a matter of minutes, my Nasi Goreng Kampung was served. The Fried Rice was perfect. It had a good mix of ingredients and it did taste great. They were quite generous with the anchovies too. For Northern Style Malay cuisine or simple dishes like these, Sarimah's Kitchen does it all well. Definitely a good place to visit but please do come early as it tends to get sold out rather fast.

All In All Restaurant @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

There are so many South Indian restaurants in Cyberjaya but finding good food at reasonable prices is a challenge. All In All Restaurant is a day to day South Indian restaurant that is located on the Glomac Cyberjaya side and this is a place that I visit every now and then solely for the good food and reasonable prices.

The Restaurant Along Jalan GC 14

Teh O Ais @ RM 1.50
It was a late Saturday afternoon when I visited them and the place was pretty quiet. To be honest, you don't get much activity over the weekends in Cyberjaya but still there were a decent number of customers here. I ordered a glass of Teh O Ais which was priced at RM 1.50 and it was perfectly fixed. My rating for this is 8/10.

My Lunch @ RM 8.50
One can either opt for Banana Leaf Rice meals or go for the plate option. As I was in a hurry, I choose the latter. Good spread of dishes were available. I went for some Rice, Sambar, Fish Curry, Egg Sambal, Bean Sprouts and Mutton Perattal. This entire lot was reasonably priced at RM 8.50 .

Fish Curry and Sambar

Bean Sprouts
Both the Fish Curry and Sambar were good. There were thick and sufficiently spiced. Similarly, despite being a simple vegetable dish, their Bean Sprouts were tasty as well. I would rate their curries at 8/10 and these Bean Sprouts at 9/10.

Mutton Perattal

Egg Sambal
The Mutton Perattal was cooked with lots of potatoes, just the way I love it and it came in some thick gravy. Not much bones and decent lean cuts were used. The spices were perfect too. My rating for this shall be 8/10. Their Egg Sambal as well was decent and I enjoyed the blend of sweetness and spiciness. As for this, I shall rate it 7/10.

In summary, this place does serve some good food at reasonable prices. The variety is good for both vegetarians and non vegetarians and they also have Banana Leaf Rice Meals as well. Service is speedy and you'd always receive a warm reception. A good South Indian restaurant to patronise in Cyberjaya.

Khaayathiri Indian Food Corner @ Kajang, Selangor

Khaayathiri Indian Food Corner is a stall that is located inside Pearl Avenue Corner, a Chinese Food Court that is located in Pearl Avenue Condominium in Sungai Chua, Kajang. This stall has been around for a long time and they operate daily from 8 am till 5 pm.

A Day To Day Chinese Food Court

My Lunch @ RM 8.00
They do have a good spread during lunch hours and the good thing here is that all dishes are cooked in claypots, giving them a totally different taste. I went for some rice with two vegetables and took a heap of mutton in thick curry. This whole spread cost me just RM 8.00 which I felt to be very reasonable.

French Beans

Lady's Finger
The variety of vegetables were good and I went for the French Beans & Carrot and some stir fried Okra. Both were good in their own ways and I shall rate these 8/10. The good thing with their veggies is that it had a very home cooked taste to it and they were not overdone.

Mutton

Thick Mutton Curry with Potatoes
The Mutton itself was just okay. What I didn't like was the fatty portions which seemed to be in abundance. However, their Mutton Curry was heavenly. Made with lots of potatoes, it had a very strong taste and it gave an authentic feel to it. Totally loved it so much so I went back and added more curry and they did not charge me for taking extra gravy. I would rate their Mutton at 8/10 and the Mutton Curry at 9/10.

For good South Indian stall food in Kajang, Khaayathiri Food Corner would be my choice. I have dined in a number of restaurants in Kajang and these guy's are really something. Excellent variety cooked in claypots, home cooked style food and sold at very reasonable prices.

Chill X Cafe @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Chill X Cafe is a canteen cum cafe that is located inside the MaGIC building in Cyberjaya. As you know, MaGIC organises lot's of events from time to time and as such, this place is almost full house throughout the daily business hours. I happened to be here for one such event and throughout those few days, there was no need for me to head out of this place looking for food as this cafe had such a good variety being sold at very reasonable prices.

Chill X Cafe On The Ground Floor of MaGIC Building

Teh O Ais @ RM 1.50

Iced Nescafe @ RM 2.50

Iced Coffee @ RM 2.00
Right from breakfast till tea time, they have a variety of food on offer. Looking at the variety that they have, one could really get confused as to what to have. I had tried a number of drinks and they were all good. Each drink was perfectly fixed and sold at reasonable prices. My rating for their drinks would be 9/10.

Mixed Rice Meal @ RM 9.00

Breakfast Selection @ RM 5.00
The first one was something that I had had for lunch. I went for some rice, a piece of Fried Chicken, some Prawn & Petai Sambal, Salted Egg and some Sotong Sambal and this whole lot was merely priced at RM 9.00 . Similarly, the next day I went for some Fried Mee Hoon, Onion & Anchovies Sambal and an egg and this was priced at RM 5.00 , Each and every dish was good in it's own way and the highlight here is their sambal items which was so good. My rating for these shall be 9/10.

Breakfast @ RM 5.00

Curry Mee @ RM 5.00
The other two days, I had also had my meals here. One day, I went for their Fried Kuey Teow with some Egg & Onions, Tempeh & Anchovies and Prawn & Petai Sambal and again, it was merely RM 5.00 . I tried their Curry Mee as well and they had added some generous ingredients and the curry itself was thick and good. Again, I shall give these dishes 9/10 as well.

If you're looking for a good place to have delicious Malay food in Cyberjaya, Chill X Cafe would be one that I would recommend. They have a wide variety of dishes from breakfast till tea and the prices are very reasonable. My personal favourite would be their Sambal varieties. Excellent food and a cosy ambiance.

Asoka Curry House @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

Recently I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant called Asoka Curry House in Brickfields that's located along Jalan Thamby Abdullah 1. I think not many know about this restaurant as it is located behind the main street not too far from where Naga's used to be.

Large Parking Space

Simple Layout

Teh O Ais @ RM 1.50
One huge advantage that this restaurant has which no other restaurant in Brickfields has is the large parking space within their compound. That is something that is very convenient in this busy locality. The set up is fairly basic but they do have a huge seating area mainly because of the huge piece of land that they occupy. I ordered a glass of Teh O Ais and this was reasonably priced at RM 1.50 . Decent taste as well and my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Banana Leaf  Rice Meal @ RM 6.00
Their Banana Leaf Rice Meals comes with four vegetables, free flow of curries, Appalam and some pickles and this was reasonably priced at RM 6.00 . I also went for a plate of Curried Chicken and this was priced at RM 5.00 . One thing that I really enjoyed here was the hospitality shown by the staffs. They were serving you with passion and this is something that lacks in most restaurants.

Four Variety of Vegetables

Keerai Curry
All the vegetables that were served were quite tasty. They were fresh and nothing that I could pick on any one of them. My rating for these veggies shall be 8/10. I had a serving of Keerai Curry but this was a little disappointing. I felt that it was a tad too watery and lacked spices. My rating for this shall be 6/10.

Vegetable Kulambu

Chicken Curry @ RM 4.00
Their Vegetable Kulambu was way better compared to their Keerai Kulambu and it had much better flavours. I shall rate that at 8/10. Similarly, the Curried Chicken was nice too. They served it in a reasonably large bowl and for the portion, I felt the price to be very reasonable. Again, my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Asoka does offer some good food at reasonable prices. Their Vegetarian Banana Leaf Rice Meals were tasty. In fact, for such a reasonable price they serve four variety of vegetables and they were not stingy with the portions. Curries were also served in bowls, so you can have as much as you want in a leisurely pace instead of being worried that the waiter might take it away and place it at another table. Another great quality here is their staffs who serve with passion. Another advantage here is that this place has parking space within it's compound which makes it very convenient for customers. Decent food, reasonable prices and wonderful reception.

Pablo Mini: The Cheese Tart @ Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan

Pablo, the world famous Cheese Tart company had recently opened it's doors in Malaysia and their second outlet is in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya. I have always wanted to try this but for the last few months, each time I try to get something from this outlet, there's a mile long queue and I am not one who has such patience to queue for hours. Today, surprisingly their outlet in IOI City Mall did not have the usual crowd and that was an opportunity that I would not miss.

The Outlet on the Lower Ground Floor

This Is An Awesome Deal

Variety of Cheese Tarts

Variety Of Cheese Tarts
This outlet in IOI City Mall is located on the Lower Ground Floor. Pablo carries three varieties of Cheese Tarts, one standard small one and two large ones. Today, the most expensive version was on a 50% discount and I did not want to miss that opportunity.

Hygienically Packed

Comes With Ice Packs
The quality of the packaging was simply mind blowing. Not only was it packed in a sealed box, they had also added some ice packs to keep the Cheese Tart cold. Despite having travelled all the way from Putrajaya to Tanjung Malim, it was still very cold.

Cheese Tart @ RM 39.90 (Normal Price RM 79.90)

Delicious To The Last Bite
This Cheese Tart was definitely one that was made with the best of ingredients. Each bite was heavenly and it was totally worth the price paid. If you're looking for an excellent Cheese Tart that would be a taste to remember, this would be it.

Dave's Deli @ Putrajaya, Wilayah Persekutuan

Dave's Deli is one of those chain of restaurants that has strategically located themselves in a number of malls across Malaysia. Despite having been around for many number of years now, I never got an opportunity to visit them before. We were in IOI City Mall this afternoon and decided to check this restaurant out.

Located On The Lower Ground Floor of IOI City Mall

Special Weekday Discounts

Queue Up To Place Your Orders

All Items Have Been Pre-Prepared
This restaurant is located on the Lower Ground Floor of IOI City Mall. The overall ambience was more like a fast food outlet as opposed to a Western Diner. Everyone had to queue up and place their orders and all the food had been prepared. What the staffs do is that based on your orders, they'd have to just place them on a plate and send over to you.

Lamb Chop @ RM 23.49
For RM 23.49 , we got two huge slices of lamb, a heap of mashed potatoes, some salad and vegetables which I felt was really value for money. This lot would be just perfect for a big eater. The meat itself was nicely done but the overall dish could have been better. My rating for this shall be 7/10.

Hainanese Chicken Chop @ RM 19.62
Their Hainanese Chicken Chop was not so great. The sauce was too light and a little bland and the chicken did have a slightly weird taste and texture. The fries were nothing much as well. I would only give this 4/10.

Bill
Dave's Deli does serve some very reasonably priced Western food and the portions are huge. However, the dishes could have been better. Their Lamb Chop was decent but as an overalll dish, it was not up to my expectations. Their Hainanese Chicken Chop was not so great either. My suggestion would be to head there with minimal expectations. Then, you'd be able to appreciate the value for money meals.

M.K.A. Corner @ Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur

MKA Corner is a humble stall that is located along Jalan 4/109 in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur. It was by chance that I came across this stall while we were looking for a place to have lunch in Taman Desa.

MKA Corner in Taman Desa Business Park

Price List

Lovely Lunch @ RM 5.00
I never expected to find such a humble stall in Taman Desa. Being an affluent area, I would have expected more classy restaurants and no stalls. Parking is always an issue in Taman Desa Business Park area but if you go around, you'd somehow find a bay somewhere. Another shocking news that I learnt was that this stall is open 24 hours daily. During lunch hours, they had a good spread of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. I had rice, Potato Perattal, Cabbage Perattal and Chicken Curry and this entire meal cost me a mere RM 5.00.

Cabbage Perattal

Potato Perattal
Both the Cabbage Perattal and Potato Perattal were fresh and they did taste good. I was impressed with the spices used for the Potato Perattal. Not too spicy, it was just perfect and the cubes were just of the right size. My rating for both these dishes shall be 8/10.

Chicken Kulambu

Curry Chicken
Seriously, their Chicken Curry was really something. The gravy was thick, the chicken was of just the right cut size and the overall flavours were very impressive. This is definitely one of the best Chicken Curry that I have tasted and my rating for this shall be 10/10. If you happen to be in Taman Desa, please do give this stall a try. They are open 24 hours daily.
