KA Vegetarian Restaurant @ Klang, Selangor

We were in Taman Chi Liung, Klang this morning for some work and I had some friends who are vegetarians with me. Right after our discussion, we were looking for some place to have lunch and one of the friends suggested this restaurant which apparently is one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Klang.

The Restaurant In Taman Chi Liung
Locating this restaurant wasn't difficult and parking is pretty easy around this side of Klang. The restaurant itself was huge and they occupied two shop lots. Very spacious and clean as well.

As you can see from their menu, they have a range of cuisines that they offer and they are all vegetarian. It is more like a Malaysian restaurant and the prices seemed reasonable.

Chinese Tea @ RM 0.80 & Asam Boi @ RM 1.90
The Chinese Tea was good but the Asam Boi was just so so. I am not sure if the Asam itself was not fresh but it just didn't seep well. My rating for the previous shall be 9/10 and the latter 5/10.

KA Special Noodle @RM 7.70

Sweet & Sour Chicken Chop Rice @ RM 6.60
The KA Special Noodles was basically Yee Mee. The portions were good but taste wise, it wasn't the best vegetarian version of this dish that I have tasted. My rating for this shall be 6/10. Similarly, their Sweet & Sour Chicken Chop Rice was just above average only and for this, my rating shall be 5/10.

Based on the dishes that we had tried this afternoon, I wouldn't get too excited about the taste. I am not saying that it wasn't good, it just wasn't great. However, the variety and mix of cuisines that you get here is simply remarkable. Worth visiting if you're in the area and looking for some vegetarian food.

Restoran Nasi Kandar Al Mahmood @ Klang, Selangor

Restoran Nasi Kandar Al Mahmood is an Indian Muslim restaurant that is located in Taman Sri Andalas, Klang. I believe that this restaurant has been around for some time now as it did not seem like a new restaurant. I was in the area this evening to meet up with a friend for supper and he suggested for us to meet up at this place. Since he is local and knows the area well, I just tagged along. He knows that I am a foodie and should he suggest this restaurant, then the food here has got to be good.

Water Filter's Installed....That's Excellent Practice

It's A Corner Unit Located Along Jalan Sri Sarawak 14

Quite Clean

Curries

Outdoor Seats

Naan and Tandoori Were Available Too
When we met up, it was almost 11 pm. At that hour I did not want to have something heavy and decided to go for just some bread. The restaurant is a corner unit and that gives them ample of space and good ventilation inside the restaurant. I was impressed to see the that they had installed additional water filters. This restaurant must be owned by a responsible and health conscious person for him to go the extra mile to install these additional water filters. In most Indian Muslim restaurants, the place get's rather dirty by around this hour and I was impressed with the level of cleanliness, both inside and outside the restaurant. Have to applaud them for the upkeep of the place.  The staffs were attentive to customers' needs and the moment we took our seats, we were immediately attended to. That's good customer service.

Black Coffee

Teh Tarik
The drinks were sent to our tables very quickly too. My friend had some Black Coffee and I went for a glass of Teh Tarik. I must confess that the Teh Tarik was excellent. They had not used stale Tea Dust and the person fixing the drink had ensured that it was a rich glass of tea. Definitely one of the better Teh Tarik's in town and I would rate this at 9.5/10 . I did not taste the Black Coffee but according to my friend, it was pretty good too.

Chapati Set
We both had the same Chapati sets each and this came with some Dhall and Mint Chutney on the sides. Mint Chutney is something that is quite rare these days and I was very happy to learn that they serve it here.

Chapati
For an Indian Muslim restaurant, I must say that they make some good Chapati's and this was made using whole wheat flour. It was soft, fluffy and served hot. Definitely not something that was made hours earlier. I would rate this at 9.3/10 .

Dhall
Their Dhall curry was also amazing. It was on the thicker side and just look at the preparation, it's made with lavish amounts of ingredients and spices and was just perfect for the Chapati. In most restaurants, they would just serve the Chapati with the very same Sambar that was prepared with the other curries. Here, they have this gravy dedicated for the Chapati's and that's just awesome. I would rate this Dhall curry at 8.5/10 .

Mint Chutney
This was another excellent preparation. The Mint Chutney was thick and not the diluted version and most importantly, it was fresh. Mint Chutney is something that's very rare these days and is mostly only found in Punjabi restaurants. Once again, these guys amazed me by having this chutney here and it was just delicious. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Fish Curry
My friend who eats here often recommended me to give their Fish Curry a try and it was absolutely delicious. It would not be a joke if I said that I literally scooped the curry up like some soup. One of the best Fish Curry's served in a restaurant. Tasted very much like a homemade preparation. I would rate this at 9.8/10 .

Tandoori Chicken

Tandoori Chicken

Some Lime, Onions and Cucumber
We also ordered a plate of Tandoori Chicken and this was prepared by a Pakistani guy. Their Tandoori Chicken was good but I have definitely tasted better ones. It was rich in spices but would have been better if it was a little more moist. This was a little on the dry side and as such, was not able to bring out the juiciness of the meat itself. Otherwise, a good one and I would rate this at 7/10 .

Except for the Tandoori Chicken, everything else that we tried this evening was awesome. If you happen to be in the vicinity, then this would be a place that I would highly recommend!

Restoran Chat Masala @ Klang, Selangor

Restaurant Chat Masala needs no further introduction among Tamil food lovers but this is my first time visiting this restaurant. They have two outlets, one in Brickfields and another along Jalan Tengku Kelana in Klang. As we were in Klang doing some shopping this afternoon, we decided to hop in to have some tea time snacks.

Teh Tarik Man
This restaurant is located directly opposite Ajuntha Textiles along Jalan Tengku Kelana in Klang. It is not difficult to find this place as the signs are pretty clear.

Sweets Counter
We were here at about 4 pm and even at that hour there were quite a number of customers here. Some were having a late lunch while others just having some tea time snacks like us. The restaurant is air conditioned and the place was quite clean.

The Menu
Being a pure vegetarian restaurant, they had a great spread of vegetarian items. I did see some people trying to order their Tali Sets but they were informed that those are only available during lunch hours. Seems to be quite famous here. I hope that I get a chance to come back here again to try out their meal sets. Having gone through their menu, we then placed our orders with the waiter. Our orders were simple. We just ordered some snacks, sweets and drinks which seemed more than enough for this hour.

Palkova @ RM 1.60

Palkova @ RM 1.60
We ordered a piece of their Palkova just to taste the items which we shared among us. The piece was priced at RM 1.60 each. Taste wise, it was really good but not the best that I have tried. The best Palkova that I tried had been at those Punjabi Restaurants. I would rate their Palkova at 8.6/10 .

Masala Coffee @ RM 3.00

Masala Coffee @ RM 3.00

Teh O @ RM 1.30

Madras Coffee @ RM 3.00

Madras Coffee @ RM 3.00
We ordered one Masala Coffee, one Madras Coffee and one Teh O. Their Teh O was just like those available at the Indian Muslim restaurants and I would rate that at 8/10 . Their Masala Coffee however was very good and that deserves a rating of 9/10. Their Madras Coffee (Filter Coffee) too was very good and that again deserves a rating of 9/10 . Definitely well fixed drinks.

Methu Vadai Set @ RM 2.00

Methu Vadai Set @ RM 2.00

Sambar & Chutney
Their Methu Vadai set was really good. The Vadai was soft like the ones that are available in India and it is priced very reasonably unlike those Saravanabhavan's. I would rate their Vadai at 9.3/10 . This is again served with Sambar and Tomato Chutney. The Sambar here is not like the local preparation. It is more like the Sambar that is available in Tamil Nadu which comes with 'Perungayam' added to it. Their Sambar is good and I would rate it at 9.7/10 . The Tomato Chutney too was very nice. Though it may seem diluted from the photograph, in reality it was perfectly ground. I would rate their Chutney at 9.3/10 . This is definitely a recommended item here.

Gulab Jamun @ RM 2.00

Gulab Jamun @ RM 2.00
Their Gulab Jamun too was good. Taste wise, I would rate this at 9/10 . What I did not like was that in the menu, it was priced at RM 1.50 but when the bill came, we were charged RM 2.00 for this with the word 'special' added to the description. When I checked with the waiter, he mentioned that this was a special one with added ghee. The explanation seemed like nonsense to me as how can you make Gulab Jamnu with lesser ghee than this. I did not want to create a scene but would like to highlight that here. Please double check the bill with the price in the menu.

The Bill
Except for the Gulab Jamun incident, everything else was good here. Would definitely want to try their meals and other food items soon as I have heard a lot of positive reviews about this place. Their drinks too are very good. If you happen to be in the vicinity, then it is worth giving them a try.
