4 Fingers Crispy Chicken @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

4 Fingers Crispy Chicken is a Singaporean fast food chain that had recently ventured into the Malaysian market with four new outlets located in the Klang Valley. Their main product being Asian Style Fried Chicken that's being sold on it's own and as a burger. One of those outlets in located in NU Sentral Mall and since I was here this afternoon, decided to drop by for lunch.

The Outlet Located On The Concourse Level

Their Menu

This outlet in NU Sentral Mall is located on the Concourse Level, very close to the escalators that connect NU Sentral Mall to KL Sentral. The outlet is of a reasonable size but they have a very short space between the entrance and the cash counters. This invariably creates a situation whereby with just three people ahead of you, you would find yourself standing outside the restaurant. That was one setback here that I came across but I guess they were just trying to maximise the seating capacity. In terms of their menu, their primary product is their Asian Style Fried Chicken and this comes with various add-on's and additional sauces. Prices were not cheap but acceptable as an occasional restaurant. Instead of going for Ala Carte items, it would be good to look into their sets as a way to bring the cost down.

My Bill

Buzzer

Coca Cola
Once you have paid, food is not disbursed at the counter. You are only served your drinks and along with that, given a buzzer. Once it buzzes, that means your orders are ready for collection and you would need to proceed to the kitchen counter to collect your food items. The restaurant was crowded and I thought that it may take a while but I was surprised to see my food was made ready in less that five minutes.

2 Pieces Wings With Hot & Soy Garlic Sauce
I wanted to try both their Fried Chicken and Burger and therefore ordered these Chicken Wings. They have two signature sauces here as add-on's and they are Soy Garlic Sauce and Hot Sauce. For these wings, I went for a mix of both as recommended by the cashier as it gives a unique blend of sauces. The wings itself was fantastic. I loved the outer crisp which is something that's totally new. I have not tasted anything like this in any of the fast food outlets. It was so crispy yet lean and without fat. Definitely an excellent one and I would rate this at 9/10.

Skinny Fries With Kimchi
Their Fries are shoestring cut, hence the name Skinny Fries and they come with a choice of add-on flavours and they are seaweed or Kimchi. I am not a fan of seaweed and so I went for Kimchi. Something very different, unique I would say and it was definitely good. The fries too were perfectly done and non greasy. I would surely rate this at 9/10 as well.

B.F.F. Chicken Burger with Hot Sauce
This BFF Chicken Burger was one massive burger. Not only was the fried chicken huge, even the buns were quite massive. One of this is more than enough to satisfy a huge eater. This time, I decided to go for the Hot Sauce only and it was very good. One thing I liked most about this burger was the crunchy bit along with the lean meat served. Not forgetting the flavours, that was awesome too. I would definitely rate this at 9/10.

Being a Singaporean fast food chain specialising in Asian Style Fried Chicken, 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken would surely be winning the hearts of Asians as their recipe is one that is catered towards our taste buds. Whether you go for their burgers or Fried Chicken, I am quite certain that you would return a happy customer. For those who have not tried this yet, I would definitely recommend doing so. That crisp that you get with each bite is simply a taste to remember.

Simply D @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

I have always wanted to visit this restaurant but never got an opportunity. This afternoon, I had to meet up with a friend and since we were in NU Sentral Mall, we decided to drop by. This chain of restaurants belongs to the Delicious Group and under this branding, they currently have three outlets. The first one to open was in Avenue K, followed by the one in The Curve and lastly this one in NU Sentral.

The Cafe Located Opposite KL Sentral Station

A Very Modern Design

Comfortable Seating
Getting to this restaurant can be a little tricky. Assuming you are coming from KL Sentral, you would need to take the escalator down to the Ground Floor and walk outside towards Starbucks. Once you see Starbucks, turn left and keep walking straight and you would come to this restaurant. Despite being part of the NU Sentral Mall, the entrance is from the outside as this outlet faces the KL Sentral Station. The place is not too large, probably good to seat 30 people at any one time. The design was modern and comfortable. Since we were here an hour before lunch, we had the entire place to ourselves till around 12 noon when crowd started coming in.

Set Menu
Initially, I thought that the prices here would be quite steep but to my surprise, they seemed reasonable. Right from snacks to heavy meals, they had them all. For those would would love to go for set meals, those are available as well. In case you do not want to have coffee, tea or any other drinks, both hot and cold water are provided complimentary and you could get them yourself from the cutlery station.

Lamb & Hummus Wrap @ RM 17.00

Lamb Wrap, Salad and Fries
I believe all their meals comes with Salad and Fries and so did this one. The salad was a simple vegetable salad. It tasted good and was served cold as it should be. As for their salad, I would give that a 7/10.

Closer Look At The Wrap
The Lamb & Hummus Wrap came with sliced cucumbers, sun dried tomatoes, grilled red peppers, hummus and some delicious shredded lamb. The portion was huge and taste wise, it was pretty good. The contents were sufficiently moist and creamy and the cucumbers gave it a good crunch. A good one to have here and I would rate this at 8/10.

The Greek Burger @ RM 19.00
Just like the earlier set, this Burger too came with the same salad and some fries. But I must confess that the burger was really huge.

Fries
The fries were good. It had a crisp to it and the inside was soft and tasty. Lightly salted just the way it should be. Properly done and I would give this a 8/10.

The Greek Burger
The Greek Burger came with a huge, thick lamb patty along with some salad, tomatoes, avocado and feta cheese. My suggestion would be that if you're not really hungry, please do not go for this one as it was really huge. Took me a while to finish it and what more with the salad and fries on the sides. The ingredients were perfect and that combination of ingredients gave it a very unique taste. The lamb patty was nice but in my opinion, it could have been better. There was something that was lacking which I could not figure out. Otherwise, it was very nice and I would give this  8/10 as well.

In summary, I did like this place. The food was good, reasonable prices, friendly staffs and during non peak hours, it's a fantastic place to have business discussions. Definitely a place that I would recommend.

Pezzo @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

One of the new outlets to open up in NU Sentral Mall is Pezzo, a pizza chain that hails from Singapore and is slowly expanding it's foot print in Malaysia. I believe they have a strong presence in East Malaysia and having been successful there, they are slowly penetrating the market here in West Malaysia.
The Kiosk in NU Sentral Mall
They do have a full fledged outlet in 1 Utama but I have never gotten a chance to try the pizza yet. This outlet in NU Sentral Mall is just a kiosk located not too far away from the escalator that connects this mall with KL Sentral. As it was the rush hour with commuters heading back home after work, the place was buzzing with customers. The queue was rather long but the guys manning the counter were extremely efficient. They must have been very well trained to handle large crowd. It took them about a minute or two to handle each customer and that's super efficient.

Prices & Promotions

Good Variety of Pizza
Prices were clearly displayed on the screen and again right beside each and every pizza. Another good thing is the clear indication of the ingredients. Weather it was chicken, lamb or beef, every pizza had the narration as well as symbols which made it easier to identify them. For example for a person who does not consume beef like me, all I had to do was look at those pictures and choose accordingly. I did not have to strain my eyes and try reading the smaller prints beside each one of those pizzas. This also did cut down a lot of enquiry time that customers would have had assuming these labels were not there. All pizza's are baked on site and that guarantees it's freshness. They have two series, Carnival and Gala and these are priced at RM 7.90 and RM 8.90 each and that's the price per slice. In case you're wondering, the slices are huge. They are definitely bigger than an adult male's palm.

Individual Packaging
Being a kiosk, there is no dine in facilities here and it's all takeaways. That being said, they have these beautiful triangular cartons to individually pack those pizza slices. Very innovative concept and practical too.

Very Veggie Pizza @ RM 7.90 per Slice
This Very Veggie Pizza is made using onions, mushrooms, green peppers and pineapples and topped using Cheddar Cheese & Mozzarella Cheese. This one comes under the Carnival series and it is priced at RM 7.90 . It was a lovely mix if ingredients and the pineapples gave it a sweet aftertaste to the cheesy base. Definitely a good one and I would rate this at 8/10 .

Ultralicious Salted Egg Pizza @ RM 8.90
This Ultralicious Salted Egg Pizza was heavenly. Made using salted eggs, Mozzarella Cheese. Turkey Ham, Turkey Bacon and Mayonnaise, this was one of those in the Gala series and was priced at RM 8.90 per slice. Totally worth the price paid. You actually get salted eggs and cheese oozing out with each bite. Being a fan of both of those items, I totally loved it. Fans of salted egg must not miss this. This deserves a perfect score of 10/10.

Cheese Cheese Pizza @ RM 7.90
A simple pizza loaded with Mozzarella and Feta Cheese and would definitely be a delight to cheese lovers. Another one in their Carnival series and this too was priced at RM 7.90 per slice. Unlike the earlier one, this has a thick and solid layer of cheese and so you don't get the hot melted cheese oozing out. Taste wise, it was good and I would give this a 8/10.

Among the three varieties that I tasted this evening, I definitely loved the Ultralicious Salted Egg Pizza as it was marvelous and had all my favourite ingredients. The other two were good too, no doubt about that. If you happen to be in NU Sentral or KL Sentral and was looking for a quick bite, this would definitely be a very suitable place. They are definitely some value for money pizzas.

Hoagies Hauz @ NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

Thought of catching a movie this evening and popped in to NU Sentral Mall. Having bought our movie tickets, we still had about an hour left and neither one of us have had our lunch.Well, my heart urges me to head out to Brickfields for a sumptuous Banana Leaf Meal but my mind says that that would be a terrible idea as I wouldn't want to sleep off during the movie and moreover, one hour wasn't really enough for us to get there, have our meal and return in time for the show. Having tried most of the places here, I decided on giving this Hoagies place a try. They have been around for almost a year now and are located right beside the GSC cinema on Level 5. And the idea of having Hoagies seemed good as it would be very much a light meal and perfect timing wise as well.

The Outlet on Level 5

Simple Yet Elegant

Beautiful Design

Set Meals Were Available
Once I reached the cafe, I saw that they had a number of set meal's available and the lady boss was urging me to give them a try, notably their Chicken Chop as that is apparently one of their signature dishes along with the Buttermilk sauce. Seduced by the idea, we thought of going along. So, we got one Mushroom Chicken Chop and one Buttermilk Chicken Chop and these came with a tall glass of Lemonade each. The place was nicely decorated, not too fancy but practical. Once the orders were placed at the cashier, just like a typical cafe, we had to pay first and a number was provided to be placed on the table.

Lemonade
In a matter of minutes, our drinks were served. I guess they might have had these prepared as it seemed to be the only drink available for the set meals. The Lemonade was truly awesome, concentrated and with a bold tangy aftertaste. Loved it and I would rate this at 9/10 .

Mushroom Chicken Chop @ RM 17.80

Grilled Chicken Topped With Mushroom Sauce
It took them a while to prepare this Mushroom Chicken Chop but the wait wasn't too long. It came with a large chunk of grilled chicken, some salad and potato dressed with mayonnaise. I was very impressed with the portion size as it was really huge. The chicken was grilled and that was a plus point. I don't really fancy those deep fried ones as it isn't really an authentic preparation and those should invariably be termed as Chicken Maryland instead of chops. The chicken tasted good and seemed to be pre marinated with some spices. That was a great idea and so the dish didn't have to solely rely on the sauce alone. The mushroom sauce was a medium bodied one and came with some diced button mushrooms. In my opinion, this sauce might be a commercial one and not one that they prepared themselves as it does taste quite similar to Campbells. Anyway, that's just a guess based on the taste. As a complete dish, it was good no doubt and I would rate this at 8/10 .

Buttermilk Chicken Chop @ RM 17.80

Generous Topping Of Buttermilk
Just like the earlier dish, this Buttermilk Chicken Chop came with those sides too and with a generous topping of Buttermilk. Goodness.... this was really good and I very much enjoyed the sauce. Sweet, creamy and delicious. A unique preparation it was and I loved it. This, I would rate at 9.5/10 .

Salad
Their Salad was very impressive and it came with a dash of lemon. One of the best salad's that I have tried. Simple yet tasty. It really takes a great amount of skill to get a simple dish like this to taste so good. I would rate their Salad at 9.5/10 .

Potato
These steamed potato's were another treat and they were served with some mayonnaise and topped with carrots. A cold dish and it was very good. The potato cubes were steamed to just the right level, when it was not too soft and not too hard and just the right bite size. I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

Our Bill For The Day
It is just surprising how I came here for hoagies, got diverted to try their Chicken Chop sets and was pleased with that decision. The portions were good, the prices reasonable and a great place to have a conversation over a meal. Definitely a place that I would recommend.

Chili Espresso @ NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

I had to meet a friend of mine for lunch and he suggested this place which is located in NU Sentral Mall. I am quite familiar with this mall but never have I heard about this restaurant. It is supposed to be located on the Ground Floor but technically, it's one floor up from the street level facing Brickfields and is tucked at the far end, one part of the mall that I have never explored. I always thought that this section was not taken up. Never did I realise that outlets have already opened up and this was indeed a very large one with both indoor and outdoor seats. I believe that this restaurant is part of a larger group with more outlets in the Klang Valley.

Indoor Seating Area, Lower Level
The restaurant was very impressive, split level and with a huge outdoor seating as well. Seemed like quite a number of business meetings were also happening and they were mostly on the upper level. Well the place surely looked posh and the environment was conducive for such discussions. The staffs were extremely efficient in attending to customers. I preferred to sit on the lower level simply because the place was vacant and that would give me freedom to snap pictures.

The Menu
Their offering was across a number of cuisines with no specific theme. They had Malaysian dishes, Western, Italian, Burgers and they were all very reasonably priced. I was expecting the prices to be much more seeing the kind of set up but no, they were very much affordable. Even the western grill dishes were just under RM 20.00 which I would consider to be very cheap . Having decided what I wanted, I placed my orders and resumed my conversation with my friend and coincidentally, we both ordered the same.

Pot Of Tea @ RM 3.80

Cutlery
I loved the speed at which the staffs worked. Extremely efficient and moreover, they were well staffed. That pot of tea that I ordered was priced at RM 3.80 which I would consider to be very cheap. That pot gave me 3 cups of tea. Do the math and you'd realise that this place is even cheaper than the Indian Muslim restaurants out there. And what more the ambiance. The Tea was really good, one of the better selections and I would rate this at 9/10 .

Colonial Chicken Chop @ RM 16.80

Huge Chunk
In a matter of minutes, our lunch arrived. We had both ordered their Colonial Chicken Chop and this was priced at RM 16.80 . A really huge chunk of meat served in a humongous plate along with some peas, sauteed vegetables and fries. Even the Chili and Tomato Sauce provided were Heinz and not XYZ brand. Truly a great deal this was!!!

Deep Fried Chicken
A huge breaded Chicken chunk was deep fried and topped with Tomato Sauce, peas and onion gravy.... one that is quite similar to the Hainanese Style. And that chunk of chicken was a thick cut. Honestly, even though I am a heavy eater, the meat alone was good enough to fill me up. A it tasted very good. The gravy wasn't too sweet and was mildly infused with vinegar. Totally loved it!!! I would rate this chicken preparation at 9/10 .

Broccoli and Carrots
Even the sauteed Broccoli and Carrots were good. Not over cooked, they were still fresh and juicy and they must have surely added some butter to it. That creamy infusion along with the sauces made it taste really good. Impressive and I would rate these at 9/10 .

Fries
And were they stingy with their Fries? Not at all. In fact, the portion was as big as a large fries from Mc Donalds. The best thing about these fries were that they were non greasy yet delicious. I wonder how they had perfected it so well. Surely an art that I would love to learn. Again, I would rate this at 9/10 .

For just RM 20.00 each, we had a sumptuous meal in a posh restaurant. And that's including the drinks. Not to forgot the undisturbed conversations that we had. Amazing place and I was so happy with everything here. I am definitely coming back with my family to try out some of their other dishes. This is definitely a place that I would highly recommend. Good food, very reasonable prices, great ambiance and very efficient staffs.
