Myra's Mexican & North Indian Restaurant @ Kuala Lumpur

Myra's Mexican & North Indian Restaurant started some time in June last year and they are located inside the very same building that Holiday Inn Express occupies. In fact, there are a number of restaurants that are attached to this hotel and this one is the furthest one which is closer to Holiday Inn Express.

Interesting Combination Of Cuisines

Promotion Of The Day

A Page From Their Menu

Mineral Water
Interestingly, their combination of cuisines, Mexican and North Indian seems to be pretty amusing to me. I guess, they must be having chef's from both geographies and hence this unique offering. The restaurant has a very posh set up and it almost looks like a night club setting, except that it operates daily from 11 am till midnight. Their menu had a decent spread of dishes from both continents and being in a prime location in Kuala Lumpur, their prices were premium too. Service was amazing and their waiters were a class of their own.

Plain Naan (RM 7 each) & Butter and Garlic Naan (RM 8 each)

Mutton Vindaloo @ RM 30.00
Their Naan varieties seemed good and we had ordered some Plain Naan as well as Butter & Garlic Naan. The previous was priced at RM 7 each and the latter was RM 8 each. Both breads were soft and good and most importantly, they were served hot. My rating for both bread varieties would be 8/10. Their Mutton Vindaloo was another good dish. Mutton chunks were cooked with potatoes and comes in a mildly spicy thick gravy and is priced at RM 30.00 . Portions wise, it's definitely pricey but looking at the location, I would say that it's acceptable. Taste wise, my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Dal Tadka @ RM 19.00

Malai Kofta @ RM 27.00
Their Dal Tadka was decent. I won't say that it was really impressive, but acceptable quality. My rating for this shall be 7/10. Their Malai Kofta was also above average taste and again, my rating shall be 7/10.

Sliced Onions, Chilli and Lime

Pudina Chutney

Masala Tea
We had also ordered a very traditional preparation of sliced onions, lime and chillis that is native to Punjab and I was told that it is a must to have this in most meals. I tried it too and absolutely loved the combination despite it being me first time giving that a try. Their Pudina Chutney was also nice. It was thick and adjust the right blend of ingredients. My rating for this shale 8/10. To round up our meal, we had ordered a Masala Tea each. For me, this was just okay as I have tasted way better ones. The Masala was a little too mild for me as well and my rating for this shall be 6/10.

In summary, I find the food here to be quite decent. Their breads were good but the curries could have been better. For a meal for three which comprises of a mix of breads, 1 Mutton dish, 2 vegetable curries and 3 Masala Teas, I find the price of RM 164 to be slightly on the high side. Nevertheless, the ambiance was lovely and their customer service was excellent.

Popilla @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Restoran Popilla is a Halal Mexican restaurant that has been established in a number of malls in the Klang Valley. Most often, they operate from a kiosk like concept with a small dining space. Similarly, that's how their outlet is established in D'Pulze Mall, Cyberjaya.

The Outlet On Level 2 Of D' Pulze Mall

Our Bill
It's very much a self service kiosk. Go up to the counter, place your orders, pay for them and be seated. Once they are ready, you'd have to pick it up yourself. The place is pretty simple but adequate. Since they are located right beside TGV Cinema, most of their customer's are people who come here to grab a quick meal before heading in for their movie.

Southwest Chicken Burritos @ RM 11.50

Southwest Chicken Burritos @ RM 11.50
For the price, I felt that the Southwest Chicken Burritos were quite small. Fillings wise, it was nothing much as well. Just some chicken, vegetables and a wrap. My rating for this shall be 6/10.

Grilled Chicken Quesadillas @ RM 14.90
Their Grilled Chicken Quesadillas were definitely much better than the Burritos. The Tortilla was crisp and it came with a decent portion of chicken and cheese. This I shall rate at 7/10.

If you're looking for a quick bite before catching a movie at D'Pulze Mall Cyberjaya, then you might want to consider Popilla. Very basic Mexican food is served and prices are slightly on the high side, nevertheless the place is perfect for a quick bite.  Between the Burritos and Quesadillas that I had tasted this evening, my vote would surely be for their Quesadillas.

Cafe Pedro Espresso @ Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Located in Block E of Plaza Mont Kiara, is a long standing cafe called Cafe Pedro Espresso. Although I have been here numerous times to buy coffee, I have never tried any of their food and since I was in the mood for some light food, decided to have lunch here today.

Cafe Pedro Espresso in Mont Kiara

Simple Design
I think among all the shops here in Plaza Mont Kiara, this has the simplest set up. It is simply a no frills cafe. They are renowned for their variety of good coffee sold at reasonable prices. Most of their customers are those that work or live around Mont Kiara. Every time I have guests at the office, Pedro's is the place to get coffee as all of them, including me, love their coffee. Even during lunch time today, there were not many dine ins at this place but there were so many customers who did coffee take away's. The environment here is also rather comfortable and if you are one of them who like to work from Cafe's, this could be an ideal place. They provide very stable Wifi connection along with some plug points along the walls and you do not get the crowd and interruptions that you may usually encounter in Starbucks or Coffee Bean. There are some tables placed outside for smokers but at noon, sitting outside can be a wrong choice as it tends to be quite hot. Inside however is cool and nice as there are six ceiling fans inside this small dining area which keeps it well ventilated.

The Menu

The Menu

The Menu
The menu has an array of coffee variety and a decent amount of snacks that should suffice for their kind of clientele.  The price is also very much on the low side despite being in Mont Kiara and their drinks are definitely cheaper when compared to Starbucks.

Caramel Machiato @ RM 9.00
Instead of going for my usual Americano, I decided to try their Caramel Machiato for a change. As always, the drink was perfect and never slacked in any way. For the mug size, the price was rather cheap too. I would rate this drink at 10/10 .

Chicken Taco @ RM 12.00

The Filling
I have heard from many friends that the best food item here is their Korean Beef Bulgogi Wraps or Tacos but since I do not eat beef, I had to try something else and went for the above Chicken Taco's. Their Chicken Taco's were just above average. It did not impress me as much as their coffee. Maybe a sandwich or some healthy wraps would have been a better choice. As the Taco bread is already dull tasting, the filling would have to have more juiciness in it but this just lacked that. The filling too was rather bland and that made the entire dish not too appealing. I would only rate this at 6/10 .

Overall, for me at least, this would always remain one of my favourite places for good coffee and nothing more. I do not think that I would be coming here in search of food unless perhaps, I would be having their Korean Beef Bulgogi which would never be an option for me. Hence, I would just have to pass for their food but would definitely vote for them for their excellent coffee. Do note that this restaurant is Pork Free but it does not have Halal status.
