Restoran Punjabi Junction @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Restoran Punjabi Junction is a relatively new Punjabi restaurant that had opened it's doors sometime in April this year. They are located at the Centrus Mall, Cyberjaya which is located in CBD 3. Generally, they offer ala carte dishes but of late, they had started lunch buffet as well.

The Restaurant in Centrus Mall, Cyberjaya
I have visited them when they had just started sometime in April and found the food to be above average. However, I was told by many of my friends that their lunch buffet is pretty good. Having heard from a number of them, I decided to drop by this afternoon for lunch.

My Lunch @ RM 7.50
What they have is not really buffet concept but set meals instead. However, they have prepared a number of vegetarian as well as non vegetarian dishes for one to choose from and their sets are priced accordingly. Similarly, they also have a choice of Chapati or White Rice. I went for two Chapati's and two vegetables and this cost me RM 7.50 . Definitely not a cheap set lunch but if it's really good taste wise, then it should be fine.

Chapati
Their Chapati's are made to order and that's a plus point here. You get them hot and not those that have been made and kept in hot containers. Taste wise, their Chapati's were definitely good. The bread was soft and tasty. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Potato With Beans

Dhall
Both vegetables that I tried were good, in fact, they were much better than the Ala-carte dishes that we tried when they had just opened. Certainly not made by the same chef as the last time too we had ordered the same Potato with Beans and it didn't taste this good. If I were to rate these, I would give them 8/10.

Restoran Punjabi Junction does have some good lunch sets to choose from and their Roti's are made to order thus ensuring you fresh and quality meals. Prices are steep though but taste wise, they are good. A good Punjabi restaurant to visit in Cyberjaya.

Restoran Punjabi Junction @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Punjabi Junction is a new North Indian restaurant that had recently started business in Cyberjaya. If I remember correctly, they only started a few weeks back and their location is in Centrus Cyberjaya. Being located in the very same building, we decided to drop by for dinner this evening.

The Restaurant In Centrus Cyberjaya
The restaurant had a simple yet cosy decoration. Being very new, not many people had heard about them and that being the case, there were only a handful of customers this evening. The entire restaurant is air-conditioned and they have been awarded Class A for cleanliness which is a great thing to have.

Their menu was quite comprehensive and covered a good selection of meats and vegetarian dishes. Prices seemed very reasonable too. We then placed our orders and the wait time wasn't too long. In less than half an hour, the dishes were served.

A Mix of Cucumber, Onions and Carrots

Mint Dip
The mix of vegetables and Pudina Dip were given complimentary. I must say that both were pretty good. The mixed vegetables had a lovely blend of flavours and the sour peppery aftertaste was just unique. I shall give both a rating of 8/10.

Aloo Paratha @ RM 4.50 each

Garlic Naan @ RM 4.00 each

Butter Naan @ RM 3.50 each
We ordered three varieties of bread, Aloo Paratha, Garlic Naan and Butter Naan and the bread was quite huge. What you see above is one each in the basket. Prices were reasonable and I specifically enjoyed their Garlic Naan and Butter Naan. This was quite soft and was up to my liking. The two that I had mentioned here deserve a rating of 8/10. Their Aloo Paratha could have been better and the masala filling was quite bland. My rating for that shall be 6/10.

Mutton Keema Masala @ RM 16.00

Chicken Tikka Masala @ RM 12.00
Their Mutton Keema Masala was above average quality. The portion was huge but I felt that if could have been better taste wise. A little lack of salt as well. Otherwise, it was pretty decent and deserves a rating of 6/10. Their Chicken Tikka Masala was again another above average preparation. The meat could have been a little more tender but I loved the masala marination. Taste wise, I would rate this at 7/10.

Mutton Balls Masala @ RM 15.00

Methi Fish Curry @ RM 10.00
Unlike the earlier dishes, their Mutton Balls Masala and the Methi Fish Curry was absolutely good, I mean really good. The gravy given in the previous dish was so delicious and similarly the curry found in the latter dish was just perfect. Both the dishes deserve nothing less than a 9/10.

Chai Masala @ RM.3.50
After our dinner, we ordered a Masala Chai each. It was priced at RM 3.50 which was an acceptable pricing but we all felt that it was a tad too diluted. Moreover, they should have added more spices to make the drink bolder. My rating for this drink shall be 5/10.

The prices here are quite reasonable and some of the dishes that we tried were really good. I won't say that the taste was consistent across all dishes and that was solely from our single dining experience here. Nevertheless, the dishes that I would recommend would be their Methi Fish Curry, Mutton Masala Balls, Garlic Naan and Buter Naan.

Restoran Khalsa Chapati House @ Kuantan, Pahang

By the time we reached Kuantan, it was pretty late at night and being the Chinese New Year holidays, finding a hotel was another challenge. Once we had settled all those, we then started looking for a place to have dinner. Because of the Chinese New Year holidays, all the famous Chinese seafood restaurants were also closed and we had no choice but to check out the restaurants in town. The one's that were open were mostly the KFC's, some Tomyam restaurants and this Restoran Khalsa Chapati House.

Restoran Khalsa Chapati House Located Along Jalan Besar, Kuantan

Teh O Ais
Although the name indicated that it was a Punjabi restaurant, in truth it was not. Perhaps it may have once been so but now, this is an Indian Muslim restaurant. We were a little demotivated having learned that nevertheless, there is not much that we could do at this hour. The crowd seemed good and based on that alone, we decided to stay. I ordered a glass of Teh O Ais and it was just okay. My rating for this drink shall be 7/10.

Chapati Set

Chicken Keema
Two of us had the Chapati Set which comes with two Chapati's, some Dhall and some Green Moong (Mung) Dhall. The Chapati wasn't even made using Atta Flour. It was made using standard Wheat Flour and the texture was just so so. My rating for this Chapati shall be 7/10. Their Dhall was bland and tasteless and it deserves a rating of not more than 3/10. The Green Moong (Mung) Dhall was so so. That I shall give a rating of 5/10. We had asked for Mutton Keema but they did not have that. Alternatively, they recommended their Chicken Keema and we agreed. Again, another one that was tasteless. In fact, it was so bad in taste that we all had left most of it. My rating for this shall again be 3/10.

Omelette

Mee Goreng
The Omelette with onions and chili was just awesome. Truly, it was so good that we had ordered two more. My rating for this shall be 9/10. My brother had ordered a plate of Mee Goreng and this too turned out to be good. Very old school style of preparation and my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Although this restaurant carries a Punjabi name, the operators are all Indian Muslims. Having been deceived by the name, we tried their Chapati's and they were just so so. The curries and the Chicken Keema was horrendous. The only thing good was their Mee Goreng and Omelette.

India Gate @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

In the past few weeks, I have already blogged about four Indian restaurants in Cyberjaya and still, I have so many more to visit. And amidst all that, here's another new Indian restaurant that had opened it's doors two weeks back.

India Gate in Shaftsbury Square

Beautiful Mughal Style Decor

Lovely Ambiance

Quality Cutlery
This restaurant is located in Shaftsbury Square and is on the Ground Floor facing the main trunk road. They have a good variety of dishes, mostly being North Indian food items, South Indian Thali Meals and some Chettinad Dishes. Prices were quite reasonable bearing in mind the kind of set up that they have put in place. The entire restaurant was air-conditioned and I loved the Mughal style decoration. The staffs still seemed like they needed a little more time before they could come up to speed, nevertheless they were giving it their best and were very friendly.

Aloo Parata @ RM 5.00 each
There were a handful of tables that were occupied this evening even though it was a working day and despite that, they didn't take too long to prepare the dishes. All food items are made from scratch when ordered. Only during lunch hours, they precook their North Indian Thali and South Indian Thali Meals. The rest are all cooked based on orders. I ordered Aloo Parata and this was priced at RM 5.00 each. What you see in the above basket is two pieces of the same. The Parata was quite huge and if you're a light eater, I would recommend going for one only. I loved the potato stuffings as it was beautifully infused with spices. Even the bread was so soft and tasty. This is one of those Aloo Parata's that I could eat on it's own. Truly good and I would rate this at 9/10.

Fish Tikka Masala @ RM 19.90
Their Fish Tikka Masala was another excellent dish. Decent cube sized cuts of fish were cooked in this extremely delicious gravy. The gravy was thick, mildly sour and it was just perfect. Good to go with even rice. I would rate this at 9/10 as well.

Mutton Chettinad @ RM 18.90
Their Mutton Chettinad was another delicious preparation. The gravy was spicy and I could get traces of black pepper and that chili, spices and black pepper combo was just awesome. However, one thing that I did not like were the mutton cuts. The had used huge mutton chops, each cut was probably about two thirds the size of my fist. It would have been better if they had gone with smaller boneless cubes. That is my only complaint for this dish, otherwise the gravy was excellent. I would give this dish 8/10.

Tandoori Chicken (Quarter Chicken) @ RM 10.90
Their Tandoori Chicken was not bad. I have definitely tasted better ones and this surely has room for improvement. I would probably skip this one the next time I am here as there are so many other dishes to try. This, I would rate at 7/10.

Masala Tea @ RM 5.00
Their Masala Tea was amazing. Loved the infusion of spices and it was very similar to the one's that we get in India. Just perfect to have this after a hearty meal. I would rate this one at 9/10.

Bill For The Day
I would say that their food was quite impressive except for the Tandoori Chicken. The rest of the dishes that we tried were quite awesome. In fact, we returned again that weekend only to find the place to be full house. We tried a range of Briyanis (Prawn, Chicken and Mutton) and they were all good. Definitely a place that I would recommend. Good service and reasonable prices too!

Restoran Simple Box Food.Com @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

There seems to be no ending to the number of Indian restaurants in Cyberjaya and I never seem to be able to visit them during work hours due to my meetings. Hence last Saturday, my brother and I decided to check another place out and this too happens to be within the Glomac Cyberjaya area.

Located Along Jalan GC 3

Lovely Air-Conditioned Restaurant
This restaurant is is quite unique. They are called Simple Box Food.Com as they maintain such a website that delivers food over to the offices within Cyberjaya area. They have been here for years now and seem to be doing pretty well, mainly because of the food delivery business which has gotten them a huge number of loyal patrons.

A simple menu ranging from vegetarian to non vegetarian dishes and they were mainly focused on North Indian and Punjabi cuisines. Prices seemed very reasonable as well. At this moment, we have neither seen the portions nor tasted the food and so I shall reserve my comments for later. Another thing that I heard from that is that their Briyani's are the best seller. Having heard that, we had ordered that but sadly was told that they were sold out for the day. Beeing a slow Saturday, if those could be sold out at 2.00 pm, then they definitely have got to be very good. Having had no other choice, we opted to have some other set meals along with some add on's.

Appalam with Garlic Chutney & Masala Podi
Since we were dine in customers, they served us the above Appalam with Garlic Chutney and Masala Podi at no cost. The Appalam's were freshly fried and there were no signs of it being oily at all. The Garlic Chutney was marvelous and an excellent add on to the Appalams. The Masala Podi was great too. For both these items, I would rate them at 9/10.

Mutton Samosa with Mint Chutney @ RM 6.00
Five pieces of medium sized Mutton Samosa's were served with Mint Chutney and these were priced at RM 6.00 . Fairly good price for the platter. The Samosa's were made using ground mutton, beautifully spiced and the skin was so crispy and hot. Again, this was freshly fried upon request. However, these Samosa's turned out to be a little greasy. Nevertheless, they tasted good and I would rate them 8/10.

Vegetable Cutlet @ RM 4.00
The second starters that arrived were these Vegetable Cutlets and they were served with Mint Chutney and another dip sauce that was sweet and sour. Definitely had traces of tamarind but not sure what it was. The cutlets were huge and were made using potatoes. However, I felt that the spices could have been better. Definitely good stuff but can be better. As such, I would rate this at 7/10.

Roti Box Set @ RM 9.00

Rice Box Set @ RM 9.00
Both these Box Sets were huge portion wise and they were priced at RM 9.00 each. Another famous item here is their Vegetable Pakkora and that seemed to be a compulsory item in all Box Meals. Along with that, there were three other dishes as well. RM 9.00 for these is definitely a good deal. In the Roti Box Set, there were 4 thick Capati's and in the Rice Box Set, the portion of rice was huge. Good value for money!

Vegetable Pakkora
This was so good so much so, we had ordered more later to be taken away. I would say that this was one of the best Vegetable Pakkora's that I have tasted. Perfect blend of crispiness and tender vegetables. I would rate this at 9/10.

Capati's
Unlike the Capati's that we commonly get, these were really thick and tasty. Again freshly made and they were toasted to perfection. These deserve nothing less than 9/10.

Masala Chickpea

Potato Masala
This is the first time that I had missed out the photographing another dish. All because of the tasty food. And let me confess that all three dishes, the Chickpea Masala, Potato Masala and Dhall Tadka, were delicious. My brother and I were literally cleaning the bowls dry. I would give them all 9/10.

Masala Chicken @ RM 7.00
If you're wondering what that whitish dish is, that's called Masala Chicken. I know, when we say Masala Chicken, we would all be thinking of the South Indian Style Yellowish Gravy with Chicken. This was completely different. Similar Chicken Chunks were used except that the gravy was sour and spicy and we loved it! Very different but we could immediately connect with the flavours and enjoyed the dish thoroughly. If you do visit this restaurant, please do give this dish a try. Highly recommended. Again, one that deserves a 9/10.

Masala Chai (Tea) @ RM 3.00
And to conclude the heavenly meal, I had a Masala Chai and it was such a lovely drink. The aroma, the flavour and spices were simply perfect. 10/10 it is for this drink.

This entire marvelous meal cost us a mere RM 38.00 and that's an excellent deal. Usually such a meal would be around RM 60.00 to RM 70.00 . In fact, that was where I expected this meal to be but was completely swept off feet when I saw the bill. Amazing food, good hospitality and lovely ambience. I wouldn't mind travelling all the way from Kuala Lumpur again just for the food. Totally worth it!
