Restoran Seetharam @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

Seetharam Restaurant is a brand name that is very famous in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. Originally started in Brickfields and today they have a number of outlets in the Klang Valley. We were in Brickfields today at around lunch time and though I am not specifically a fan of the food here, my friend wanted to try the food at this restaurant. One good thing about this restaurant is that there is a public parking right behind this restaurant that makes it convenient to head there.

Rear Entrance From The Car Park

My Lunch
It is very much self service here especially when you go for their rice and curries. They had a good spread of vegetarian and non vegetarian food items and the variety was excellent. In fact, I wanted to have vegetarian food and the choices that were there makes you wonder what to take. I finally settled for some rice, Thannichaar, Venthaya Kulambu, Fried Brinjals, Keerai and Tofu Sambal.

Thannichaar

Venthaya Kulambu
Both the Thannichaar and Venthaya Kulambu was good. They were rich with spices and not the watery version. The add on's that they had added in the curries were good as well. My rating for both shall be 8/10.

Keerai & Tofu Sambal

Fried Brinjals
Their Keerai was quite nice and so was their Tofu Sambal. Only setback with the Tofu dish was that I would have preferred it to be spicier but I understand that being a restaurant, that had to follow the taste buds of the masses. Their Fried Brinjals however was excellent. My rating for the Keerai and Tofu Sambal would be 8/10 and I would give their Fried Brinjals 9/10.

Rasam
Their Rasam was excellent. It had such a wonderful flavour and was perfect to round up the meal. My rating for this would be 9/10.

Restoran Seetharam Brickfields does offer some good food and if you come during lunch hours, the variety that you get would be excellent. Prices are decent and parking is convenient. Definitely a good place to visit for a quick South Indian meal.

Aunty's Home Foods @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

I was looking for a good place to have some Hyderabad Briyani and was recommended to visit this restaurant called Aunty's Home Foods that is located along Jalan Berhala, Brickfields. It was such a small establishment so much so, it took us a while to locate that place but we finally reached there after walking around in circles.

Signage At The Restaurant

A Very Basic Restaurant

Looks Like A Restaurant In India
Well, the place is very basic and if you're one who is fussy about the environment and the surroundings, then this place is not for you. You would find that most of the people that visit this restaurant are foreigners from Hyderabad and for them, it's pretty much like home cooked flavours. Ordering is a breeze but do come early since their Briyani sells out fast. Best to be here before 1.30 pm.

Mutton Briyani
The specialty here is their Mutton Briyani. Very huge portions and I would say that it is good to feed two people. Prices are very reasonable since it is a set up that mainly caters for the foreigners The Briyani rice was so tasty and I did not even need the gravy that was provided. The mutton chunks were so soft and tender as well. If I were to rate this Briyani, I shall definitely give it 8/10.

Kurma

Onions

Raita
The sides that were served were very simple too. No fancy items. They were some Kurma, Raita and some cut onions. This is typically how a person from Hyderabad would love to have their meals. Even with white rice, the sliced onions are a must. The Kurma and Raita were good as well.

Must Have Masala Tea

Extremely Good Masala Tea

Served In Tiny Tumblers
Their Masala Tea is another must have here. Do note that they do not serve this and you would have to collect it yourself. The tumbler was another fascinating thing for me. It was slightly larger than my thumb. Taste wise, 10/10 would be my rating for this drink.

For good Hyderabad Briyani in Brickfields, I would recommend visiting Aunty's Home Foods that is located along Jalan Berhala. Do note that the place is very basic and if you're one who's very particular about the restaurant set up, then this place is not for you. Taste wise, it is definitely recommended. If you happened to visit them, do not miss their Masala Tea as it was really good. This restaurant has also been featured on Time Out Magazine.

Asoka Curry House @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

Recently I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant called Asoka Curry House in Brickfields that's located along Jalan Thamby Abdullah 1. I think not many know about this restaurant as it is located behind the main street not too far from where Naga's used to be.

Large Parking Space

Simple Layout

Teh O Ais @ RM 1.50
One huge advantage that this restaurant has which no other restaurant in Brickfields has is the large parking space within their compound. That is something that is very convenient in this busy locality. The set up is fairly basic but they do have a huge seating area mainly because of the huge piece of land that they occupy. I ordered a glass of Teh O Ais and this was reasonably priced at RM 1.50 . Decent taste as well and my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Banana Leaf  Rice Meal @ RM 6.00
Their Banana Leaf Rice Meals comes with four vegetables, free flow of curries, Appalam and some pickles and this was reasonably priced at RM 6.00 . I also went for a plate of Curried Chicken and this was priced at RM 5.00 . One thing that I really enjoyed here was the hospitality shown by the staffs. They were serving you with passion and this is something that lacks in most restaurants.

Four Variety of Vegetables

Keerai Curry
All the vegetables that were served were quite tasty. They were fresh and nothing that I could pick on any one of them. My rating for these veggies shall be 8/10. I had a serving of Keerai Curry but this was a little disappointing. I felt that it was a tad too watery and lacked spices. My rating for this shall be 6/10.

Vegetable Kulambu

Chicken Curry @ RM 4.00
Their Vegetable Kulambu was way better compared to their Keerai Kulambu and it had much better flavours. I shall rate that at 8/10. Similarly, the Curried Chicken was nice too. They served it in a reasonably large bowl and for the portion, I felt the price to be very reasonable. Again, my rating for this shall be 8/10.

Asoka does offer some good food at reasonable prices. Their Vegetarian Banana Leaf Rice Meals were tasty. In fact, for such a reasonable price they serve four variety of vegetables and they were not stingy with the portions. Curries were also served in bowls, so you can have as much as you want in a leisurely pace instead of being worried that the waiter might take it away and place it at another table. Another great quality here is their staffs who serve with passion. Another advantage here is that this place has parking space within it's compound which makes it very convenient for customers. Decent food, reasonable prices and wonderful reception.

4 Fingers Crispy Chicken @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

4 Fingers Crispy Chicken is a Singaporean fast food chain that had recently ventured into the Malaysian market with four new outlets located in the Klang Valley. Their main product being Asian Style Fried Chicken that's being sold on it's own and as a burger. One of those outlets in located in NU Sentral Mall and since I was here this afternoon, decided to drop by for lunch.

The Outlet Located On The Concourse Level

Their Menu

This outlet in NU Sentral Mall is located on the Concourse Level, very close to the escalators that connect NU Sentral Mall to KL Sentral. The outlet is of a reasonable size but they have a very short space between the entrance and the cash counters. This invariably creates a situation whereby with just three people ahead of you, you would find yourself standing outside the restaurant. That was one setback here that I came across but I guess they were just trying to maximise the seating capacity. In terms of their menu, their primary product is their Asian Style Fried Chicken and this comes with various add-on's and additional sauces. Prices were not cheap but acceptable as an occasional restaurant. Instead of going for Ala Carte items, it would be good to look into their sets as a way to bring the cost down.

My Bill

Buzzer

Coca Cola
Once you have paid, food is not disbursed at the counter. You are only served your drinks and along with that, given a buzzer. Once it buzzes, that means your orders are ready for collection and you would need to proceed to the kitchen counter to collect your food items. The restaurant was crowded and I thought that it may take a while but I was surprised to see my food was made ready in less that five minutes.

2 Pieces Wings With Hot & Soy Garlic Sauce
I wanted to try both their Fried Chicken and Burger and therefore ordered these Chicken Wings. They have two signature sauces here as add-on's and they are Soy Garlic Sauce and Hot Sauce. For these wings, I went for a mix of both as recommended by the cashier as it gives a unique blend of sauces. The wings itself was fantastic. I loved the outer crisp which is something that's totally new. I have not tasted anything like this in any of the fast food outlets. It was so crispy yet lean and without fat. Definitely an excellent one and I would rate this at 9/10.

Skinny Fries With Kimchi
Their Fries are shoestring cut, hence the name Skinny Fries and they come with a choice of add-on flavours and they are seaweed or Kimchi. I am not a fan of seaweed and so I went for Kimchi. Something very different, unique I would say and it was definitely good. The fries too were perfectly done and non greasy. I would surely rate this at 9/10 as well.

B.F.F. Chicken Burger with Hot Sauce
This BFF Chicken Burger was one massive burger. Not only was the fried chicken huge, even the buns were quite massive. One of this is more than enough to satisfy a huge eater. This time, I decided to go for the Hot Sauce only and it was very good. One thing I liked most about this burger was the crunchy bit along with the lean meat served. Not forgetting the flavours, that was awesome too. I would definitely rate this at 9/10.

Being a Singaporean fast food chain specialising in Asian Style Fried Chicken, 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken would surely be winning the hearts of Asians as their recipe is one that is catered towards our taste buds. Whether you go for their burgers or Fried Chicken, I am quite certain that you would return a happy customer. For those who have not tried this yet, I would definitely recommend doing so. That crisp that you get with each bite is simply a taste to remember.

Simply D @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

I have always wanted to visit this restaurant but never got an opportunity. This afternoon, I had to meet up with a friend and since we were in NU Sentral Mall, we decided to drop by. This chain of restaurants belongs to the Delicious Group and under this branding, they currently have three outlets. The first one to open was in Avenue K, followed by the one in The Curve and lastly this one in NU Sentral.

The Cafe Located Opposite KL Sentral Station

A Very Modern Design

Comfortable Seating
Getting to this restaurant can be a little tricky. Assuming you are coming from KL Sentral, you would need to take the escalator down to the Ground Floor and walk outside towards Starbucks. Once you see Starbucks, turn left and keep walking straight and you would come to this restaurant. Despite being part of the NU Sentral Mall, the entrance is from the outside as this outlet faces the KL Sentral Station. The place is not too large, probably good to seat 30 people at any one time. The design was modern and comfortable. Since we were here an hour before lunch, we had the entire place to ourselves till around 12 noon when crowd started coming in.

Contact Details and Outlets

Set Menu
Initially, I thought that the prices here would be quite steep but to my surprise, they seemed reasonable. Right from snacks to heavy meals, they had them all. For those would would love to go for set meals, those are available as well. In case you do not want to have coffee, tea or any other drinks, both hot and cold water are provided complimentary and you could get them yourself from the cutlery station.

Lamb & Hummus Wrap @ RM 17.00

Lamb Wrap, Salad and Fries
I believe all their meals comes with Salad and Fries and so did this one. The salad was a simple vegetable salad. It tasted good and was served cold as it should be. As for their salad, I would give that a 7/10.

Closer Look At The Wrap
The Lamb & Hummus Wrap came with sliced cucumbers, sun dried tomatoes, grilled red peppers, hummus and some delicious shredded lamb. The portion was huge and taste wise, it was pretty good. The contents were sufficiently moist and creamy and the cucumbers gave it a good crunch. A good one to have here and I would rate this at 8/10.

The Greek Burger @ RM 19.00
Just like the earlier set, this Burger too came with the same salad and some fries. But I must confess that the burger was really huge.

Fries
The fries were good. It had a crisp to it and the inside was soft and tasty. Lightly salted just the way it should be. Properly done and I would give this a 8/10.

The Greek Burger
The Greek Burger came with a huge, thick lamb patty along with some salad, tomatoes, avocado and feta cheese. My suggestion would be that if you're not really hungry, please do not go for this one as it was really huge. Took me a while to finish it and what more with the salad and fries on the sides. The ingredients were perfect and that combination of ingredients gave it a very unique taste. The lamb patty was nice but in my opinion, it could have been better. There was something that was lacking which I could not figure out. Otherwise, it was very nice and I would give this  8/10 as well.

In summary, I did like this place. The food was good, reasonable prices, friendly staffs and during non peak hours, it's a fantastic place to have business discussions. Definitely a place that I would recommend.
