BBQ Chicken @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

BBQ Chicken is a South Korean franchise that had recently started operations in Malaysia and till date, they have six outlets located across the Klang Valley. Having started in the year 1995 in South Korea, they are now the Number 1 franchise in South Korea and have a few thousand outlets across Asia. Not too long back, they had opened their latest outlet in D' Pulze Mall, Cyberjaya and that was how I came across them.

The Outlet On The UG Floor, D' Pulze Shopping Centre

Huge Space And Lovely Design

Indoor & Outdoor Seating Areas

Their Menu

This restaurant is located on the UG Level of D'Pulze Shopping Centre and they occupy a rather huge floor space which includes both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Their menu had a lot to offer but the staff seemed to be in such a hurry despite not having that many customers and as such, I couldn't take more photographs from their menu. Besides their signature dishes, they had a good variety and were even considerate to cater for vegetarians. You shouldn't come here expecting the traditional Korean dishes as you wouldn't find those. Here, it's all fusion dishes and their signature food item is their Grilled Chicken which comes in a variety of flavours.

Calamansi Juice @ RM 8.90

Just like any other franchise, prices were slightly on the high side. Can't complain much as their rentals might be pretty high too. The above Calamansi Juice was priced at RM 8.90 . Taste wise it was very good and quite concentrated. I would give this a 9/10. Good stuff for sure. I also had a glass of Iced Water and that was priced at RM 1.00 .

Jerk BBQ with Fries @ RM 14.90

Close Look At The Chicken
This was the original version that had gained popularity globally and I wanted to give that a try. The BBQ Jerk with Fries was priced at RM 14.90 . Though it may seem small, I would say that it was quite satisfying. The boneless chicken meat tasted something like 'Char Siew', slightly sweet and the texture was amazing. The meat too was so tender and juicy. I enjoyed this very much. As for the Jerk BBQ, I would give it 9/10. The Fries were also good. Crispy, non greasy and served hot. These too deserve a 9/10 rating as well. Overall, an excellent one to try here.

Margherita Pizza (Small) @ RM 23.90
This Margherita Pizza is one of their vegetarian pizzas that was on offer. Despite being indicated as small, this alone is good to serve two adults. So, please do keep that in mind when placing your orders here. It's all indicated as small but the portions are huge. Otherwise, you might end up over ordering like us and the staffs didn't even indicate that we had ordered too much. Customer service is something that I am not too happy with here. Coming back to this pizza, it was heavenly! Loaded with cheese and generous with other ingredients, this was way better than those Veggie Pizza's that we get from those famous pizza chains. I would surely give this 9/10.

Kimchijeon (Small) @ RM 15.90
This Korean Pancake was a little dry. I am a huge fan of this and have tried it in a number of Korean restaurants and this particular one, surely could have been better. Even the sauce was not up to the mark. The pancake was coarse and it just could not emanate the right flavours. Not too happy with this and I'd give it 6/10 only.

Our Bill For The Day
For a fusion Korean restaurant, they do have some good food. The BBQ Jerk which is their signature dish was simply superb. The pizza was excellent too and it is great that they do cater for vegetarians as well. Just be aware of the huge portions. Even when it's indicated small, it would most likely be good to feed two adults. Otherwise, you might end up over spending like us. Their service however was not up to my expectations. That's something that they should work on. Otherwise, great food and I wouldn't mind returning soon.

B.bap Korean Food @ NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur

We planned a small get together among old friends and since everyone was commuting using the LRT, I suggested for us to meet at NU Sentral Mall which is just off KL Sentral. As we were deciding on a place to have our dinner, everyone unanimously agreed to try B.bap Korean Food which had recently opened it's second outlet at NU Sentral Mall. Their first outlet is at IOI Mall and being a Halal certified restaurant, this place has been gaining popularity among the locals. Since I have never tried this place before, I too was excited over trying a new place in my quest to visit all the eateries in this locality.

Located On The Ground Floor Facing The Street

Two Small Outdoor Tables

Visible From KL Sentral

Crowded
It was only 6 pm and the place was already crowded. This restaurant is located on the Ground Floor, facing the road and not to be accessed through the mall's indoors. Assuming you are on the Ground Floor of NU Sentral Mall, walk towards Starbucks. Here, there is an exit heading out to the sidewalk. Take that exit and turn left. Within a minute, you would be able to sight this restaurant. This restaurant has a beautiful design. They have maximised the space utilisation by having an extended upper deck that can easily accomodate another 20 people. When we arrived, we wanted to occupy the upper deck but the staff mentioned that that section was still closed. We then asked him if we could sit there and his answer was "I am serving people alone and so I cannot be running everywhere. Once other staffs come, then I would open upstairs" and I was like "Huh! Seriously" . Well, what can I say. The staffs definitely need to be trained on handling customer's better. I know that he did not mean harm but his communication skills were just out. We were all here for a joyous reunion and as such, did not want to make it a sour experience and just sat at the lower level without arguing. What happened in the next 10 minutes was even funnier. After us, another group walked in and just went up to the upper deck. He tried to stop them but they just behaved deaf and continued walking. It would have been great if he did allow us. After all, the reason for wanting to sit up was simply to have a more conducive environment for conversations as it was a little noisy on the lower level.

The Menu
Their menu was very elaborate and impressively designed. The design was good and it had many pictures to show how the dishes would look like. The prices too seemed very reasonable to me. Something that would cost a person under RM 20 for a proper meal and that seemed like a very good deal in this kind of a restaurant, specially in this locality.

Order Chits

Confirmation Of Order
We would have to fill in our order's on the order chit that is provided. It's quite a simple one and one would just have to tick the relevant boxes. Once we were done, they would key in the items into the register and then a printed copy of our orders were placed at the table.

Bachan
Just like any other Korean restaurant, the first thing to arrive was a platter of Bachan. Bachan in Korean means side dishes. Here they served some Kimchi Cabbage, Honey Anchovies and some Bean Sprouts. I am not sure if these are refillable but these were a complimentary item.

Kimchi Cabbage
Their Kimchi Cabbage was quite good. It was not a very high grade of Kimchi used but a generally accepted standard. Taste was decent too and I would rate this at 7/10 .

Honey Anchovies
Their Honey Anchovies were very good. A thick coat of honey was given to the anchovies making them sweet and mildly salty. And it was very crunchy too. Loved it and I would rate this at 9/10 .

Bean Sprouts
These Bean Sprouts were nothing much. Slightly bland, could have been better. The only good thing about this was their crunchiness. Otherwise a very ordinary dish and I would rate this at 6/10 .

Brown Rice Green Tea @ RM 3.60
One of my friends ordered this and I did get to sip it just to taste. Well, it tasted just like any other Green Tea. Brown Rice perhaps just adds some health benefits and nothing much to enhance the taste itself. I would rate this at 8.5/10 .

Shik Hae @ RM 4.90
This typically is a Korean Rice drink. Must be something that was made from boiling the rice as it did taste like that. Remember the old fashioned way of cooking rice? That health drink that we used to scoop up? It's the very same thing. Only difference would be the price tag. I would rate this at 7/10 .

Cutlery
The cutlery provided was a high quality one. One that is provided in all authentic Korean restaurants.

Spicy Korean Ramyeon @ RM 13.00

Spicy Korean Ramyeon @ RM 13.00

Served With Chicken

Nice Soft Noodles
I have eaten this many times before in other places and they all taste very much the same. To me, this is the Korean version of Magee Mee. The only extras you get is the chicken and egg that's added into the broth. Nevertheless, the preparation was good and I loved the spicy soup. The portion was very huge too and being a heavy eater myself, I would say that this was good to fill my tummy up. I would rate this at 8.8/10 .

Tuk Guk Beef @ RM 15.00

Tuk Guk Beef @ RM 15.00
Cut rice cakes and beef balls served in a clear soup. I do not eat beef and hence could not taste the dish. I asked one of my friends how it was and she gave her comments. According to her, it was nice. The beef balls and rice cake were soft and fluffy and the clear soup was tasty too. When asked what she would rate this dish, she replied that it deserves a rating of 9/10 .

Mandu Guk @ RM 9.50

Chicken Dumplings in a Clear Soup

Chicken Dumpling

Loved The Filling
This dish was excellent! Steamed Chicken Dumplings were served in a clear soup. The Chicken Dumplings had a wonderful texture to them. They were silky and smooth on the outside and juicy and springy on the inside. Every bite was so good. The soup too was very nice. Loved this dish and I would rate this 9.5/10 .

Korean Pancake @ RM 13.50

Korean Pancake @ RM 13.50
This was an excellent one! The pancake was extremely soft, fluffy and so good on it's own. The dip sauce was not even needed. One of the best pancake's that I have tried. I would rate this at 9.8/10 .

Tong Dak @ RM 8.50
Another dish that we had for snacks. Korean Fried Chicken is so famous these days and it would be a sin if we did not try these. This was a platter of Fried Chicken and Sweet Potatoes and it was priced at RM 8.50 . Very reasonable pricing  for the number of pieces provided.

Korean Fried Chicken
The Fried Chicken was excellent! Deep fried to a golden brown perfection and seasoned with Korean spices. The meat was so tender and juicy. Just loved it and I would rate this at 9.7/10 .

Fried Sweet Potatoes
This Fried Sweet Potatoes were very nice too. A very simple preparation but executed with perfection. You're not able to see or taste a drop of oil in this dish. Non greasy and delicious. I would rate this at 9.5/10 .

The Bill
Overall, except for the staffs customer service skills, we were very happy with the place. The ambiance was nice, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely a place that I would recommend!
