Fahrenheit 600 @ Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Fahrenheit 600 is a restaurant that would probably be already known to most KL'ites and it is only recently that I managed to visit them. That too, was because of a client who was based in Mont Kiara and we happened to meet late at night for dinner.

They have a very impressive menu and they cater for both vegetarians and non vegetarians as well. Every section of their menu had clearly spelled out the ingredients and labelled their dishes as vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. For the kind of reputation that they have, I felt that their prices were very reasonable as well.

Homemade Sauces

Pasta Napoli @ RM 21.90
Services are amazing and even if you are attracted to a seemingly non vegetarian dish, they are able to turn it around as a vegetarian dish. That's the kind of personalised service that you get here. Another one that I would love to promote would be their homemade sauces. Their own version of Tabasco Sauce was simply mind blowing. I would rate this at 9/10. Their Pasta Napoli which is another vegetarian dish was great. Do note that I was with another vegetarian and all the dishes that we went for tonight were vegetarian dishes. Again, another dish that was rich with cheese and it was a total delight. My rating for this shall be 9/10 as well.

Vegetarian Version of Customised Tacos Dish @ RM 24.90

Fahrenheit 600 Pizza @ RM 27.90
That Tacos that you see is supposedly to come with chicken and on special request, they had made it purely vegetarian and rich with goats cheese. A brilliant dish and my rating for it shall be 8/10. Their house famous Fahrenheit 600 Pizza was another blissful dish. Priced at merely RM 27.90, it was heavenly and I loved the crust that was so soft and good. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Regardless of what your choice is, vegetarian or non vegetarian Western dishes, Fahrenheit 600 does a great job. Even if the item on the menu seems to be non vegetarian, they are prepared to go the extra mile to make a vegetarian version of that same dish for you. Lovely food, awesome ambiance, amazingly friendly & understanding waiters and reasonably priced food. A highly recommended restaurant!

Restoran Uli @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Restoran Uli is one of those restaurants that is close to my heart and it's solely because of the chef. As a little boy, I was introduced to Chinese food through this guy's cooking when he was based in Sin Hoong Hin Restaurant which used to be the Chinese restaurant in Tanjung Malim. Sadly, that restaurant is history today after the premature death of the owner due to kidney failure. With that, this chef had gone to the UK and worked there for almost two decades and had come back to Malaysia and opened this restaurant about a year and a half back.

The Restaurant In Taman Intan Setia, Tanjung Malim
This restaurant is located right at the end of Jalan Intan Setia 1, Taman Intan Setia which is along the old trunk road heading up north. Since there are many new Chinese restaurants now, business can be seasonal, some days very good and some days quiet and today was one such evening where there were just a handful of customers. Another reason why I like coming here is because we get to meet many old timers, people that used to frequent the old Sin Hoong Hin then.

The menu is simple and rather limited. Don't look for exotic seafood here, you would not get them. In fact, even items like squid and large shrimps are not available here. I did ask him once and his reply was there aren't many who ask for those and it's just not practical for him to stock on them as it's expensive and tends to spoil rather quickly. That surely makes sense. Nevertheless, he does have some good dishes that we all enjoy.

Tofu With Minced Meat @ RM 12.00

Dried Chili Chicken @ RM 14.00
The Tofu with Minced Meat was good. The only setback is that he doesn't have the sizzling version. If that would have been there, then it would have been way better. As for me, I would rate this 8/10. The Dried Chili Chicken was good. Lot's of sauces, dried chili, onions and spring onions were used and it tasted great. I shall rate this at 9/10.

Steamed Fish With Ginger @ RM 21.00

Sambal Petai with Shrimps @ RM 12.00
The Steamed Fish with Ginger was nice. The gingery taste did not overpower the dish and neither did the soy sauce. It was a perfect balance of flavours. I would rate this at 8/10. This Sambal Petai with shrimps was awesome. He had used larger Petai's for the dish and was generous with the amount of Belacan used. The only setback would be the overuse of oil. Otherwise, it tasted great and I would rate this at 9/10.

Bill For The Day
Generally, the food is good here and you can be confident with the consistency of taste. I find their prices to be reasonable as well. In fact, there are many Chinese families that I know of who come here on a daily basis for their dinner. If you're not looking for those exotic dishes and high end seafood, then this is a good Chinese restaurant to visit.

Restoran N Bistro @ Rawang, Selangor

Recently, I had the opportunity of visiting a prospect in Rawang Integrated Industrial Park, Selangor. This place is like a pool of millionaires who are set on building multiple manufacturing plants in the state of Selangor. There's so much of economy happening in this remote area so much so people hardly notice these places.

The Restaurant In Taman Rawang Integrated Industrial Park

My Meal @ RM 5.00
It's a very simple integrated park with not much food options. The friend that I had with me was a lifetime vegetarian and we had to find a South Indian restaurant that understands this concept. Most of the restaurants were like Chinese Hawker Stall concept and this was the only South Indian restaurant that we could find. Having had no choice, we adjourned here.

My meal that you can see above was priced at RM 5.00 and it comprised of Rice, some Sambal Belacan, a Fried Egg, some Fried Bitter Gourd, Chicken Curry and two pieces of Sardine Sambal. This entire lot was priced at RM5.00 . If you say that it was cheap, I have definitely got to agree but the food was nothing great.

Their Sardine itself was nothing great and it was merely off the can without any spices added to it. It was pungent, off the can taste and nothing special about it. I would rate this at 6/10. Their Chicken Curry was again very so so. It was thick, yes but definitely not one that was infused with spices. Felt like yesterday's curry that was reheated. Again, my rating for this shall be 6/10.

Sambal Belacan & Fried Eggs

Fried Bitter Gourd
Their Sambal Belacan was just so so and it wasn't as great as it looked. Looked spicy but taste wise, it was nowhere near there. My rating for this shall be 5/10. Their Fried Eggs were nice but again, not great and I would rate this at 7/10. As for their Fried Bitter Gourd, it was a little overdone and I'll rate it at 5/10.

Our Bill For The Day
Overall, I found the food at this restaurant to be just so so. Prices are cheap but the food was nothing great. It's just a place to fill your hungry tummy and not a place to treat your taste buds. My overall rating for this place shall be 6/10.

Nicsmann 1940s By Lewre @ Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

Nicsman 1940s is a very elegantly furnished restaurant that is located in The Starling Mall, Damansara Utama. Having opened sometime in the middle of this year, this restaurant has managed to draw a stunning number of patrons.

Nicsmann 1940s in The Starling Mall

The Entrance

Posh Decorations
This restaurant is located on the Ground Floor or this mall. Beautiful decorations and it a great place to chill with friends, family or even to go on dates. The reception is top notch and the waiters are very professional in their approach. I guess there are many high profile customers that visit this restaurant and the waiters have been trained well.

Salt and Pepper

Cutlery

Cafe Latte
They have an extensive menu and each section, right from meat to set meals are nicely organised. For those who are here for lunch, you should try their Set Lunches as they are truly value for money and comes with a variety of items. For those going ala-carte, once again you have a wide variety to choose from. For the location and the kind of reception that you get, I would say that the prices are very reasonable and would be affordable to most people. Right from the salt & pepper to the cutlery, they were all neatly arranged on the tables and they were all of a very impressive quality. I had ordered a cup of Cafe Latte and this was absolutely good. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Grilled Lamb Chop
Even in their Lunch Sets, they do have Lamb Chop but I went for the one from the menu. Three huge cuts of lamb grilled the way you prefer and this is served with some sides, Black Pepper Sauce and Mint Sauce. I found the meat to be excellently marinated and they were succulent and juicy. Minimal bones as well in those cuts. My rating for this shall be 9/10.

Nicsman 1940s is truly an amazing restaurant. Excellent food, amazing variety, awesome ambiance and such polished waiters. For the kind of set up that they have, I would definitely say that the prices are reasonable and affordable. A highly recommended restaurant!

Pondok Sosej @ Pusat Bandar Damansara, Kuala Lumpur

There's this new mall in Pusat Baandar Damansara called DC Mall. It's a relatively new mall and is slowly getting filled up with tenants. I happened to visit this mall a couple of days back and came across this new outlet called Pondok Sosej. I am not sure if they are also located in other malls but this is the first time that I am coming across them. Curious about the food, I decided to give this place a try.

The Outlet in Damansara City Mall

Very Simple Dining Area
The outlet itself isn't too large. A reasonable working space for them to prepare the orders and a small bar style dining area for customers who decide to have their meals there.

Staffs Preparing The Orders
They have a rather limited menu and it's all around sausages and a variety of preparation styles around the same. You'd have to place your orders at the cashier, pay for them and then the very same staffs would get to work. There's just two people in this whole outlet and though it was just our orders that had come in, they did take close to 20 minutes preparing them. I wonder how it would be like if there was a large crowd.

Lemonade @ RM 1.00

Smoked Chicken Bratwurst with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy @ RM 7.20
I must confess that their Lemonade was awesome. Seriously good flavours and it was served with a decent amount of ice cubes. A must try when you're here. I would rate this drink at 10/10. Their Smoked Chicken Bratwurst with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy was nothing great. In fact, I was rather disappointed. The Smoked Chicken Bratwurst wasn't up to my expectations and I would only give this 5/10. Similarly, the Mashed Potatoes and Gravy was also not up to my expectations. It was quite dry and the gravy ended up being quite bland. I would only rate this at 5/10.

Chicken Chili Coney @ RM 7.90
This again was not up to my expectations. Even the much simpler version that we get at A&W tastes was better than this. Their Chicken Bratwurst just wasn't up to it, the bun was a tad too dry and the topping of sauces was overpowering the overall taste. 6/10 would be my rating for this.

Generally, I find the food here to be very ordinary. The Smoked Chicken Bratwurst wasn't up to my expectations and the same goes for their Mashed Potatoes and Chicken Chili Coney. The only thing that was exceptionally good was their Lemonade. Their staffs have to buck up in terms of speed as well.

Restoran Gulam Maju @ Kajang, Selangor

Restoran Gulam Maju is the only restaurant available in Taman Bukit Mewah 9, Kajang. Most of the time, the food here is really bad so much so, many people only come here for drinks. I have blogged about this place in the past and just as I said, many of the food items that I had tried were not up to the mark.

The Restaurant
One big problem here is that the food doesn't sell and I have seen many people complain over stale food and spoiled curries. That has happen to me as well and the staffs usually act deaf. This constant complains has forced them to stop selling rice and curries solely because nobody buys them anymore. Of late, they had started introducing Nasi Lemak packets in the afternoons. I am not sure if they are the one's who make them or they get it from another supplier. But this entry is about that Nasi Lemak.

Teh Ais

Nasi Lemak
After having had many bad experiences, I only have been coming here for their drinks and I was surprised to find these newly introduced Nasi Lemak packets. Being one that is bold to try anything once, I decided to go for it. Surprisingly, it was good. The Sambal was spicy, not too salty and the rice itself was tasty. In summary, I wouldn't mind having this again. If I were to rate this, I would give it 8/10.

Restoran Ah Zai @ Hulu Bernam, Selangor

Restaurant Ah Zai is a place that needs no introduction among the locals here in Tanjung Malim. Having started sometime in June 2015, their business and reputation has been steadily growing over the months and they are mostly full house daily. Business starts at around 6 pm and goes on till 11 pm. Their main dishes are Curry Mee, Kon Low Mee (Wan Tan Mee), Soup Noodles, Asam Laksa and a variety of Yong Tau Fu items. There has been days when even at 8.30 pm, most of their items had been sold out. I believe I have blogged about them in the past, once when they first started and once more, when they introduced a Chicken Chop dish in their menu. Of late, another new addition that has been a hot seller here is their Char Kuey Teow. For me, it's almost mandatory that I have to have it at least once a week and I wonder how I missed blogging about that dish.

As always, I arrived at around 6.30 pm. Luckily it was a rainy day and most of the Tofu items were still available. They have an open counter where all the items are placed and customers can select what they would like to have and then instruct them as to how they would like to have them. Being one who comes here often, they know me pretty well and I have the liberty of walking into their work zone and pick those items myself. Having done that, I requested them to add some curry to it and got myself a table at the far end of the restaurant.

Being somewhat new, they had spent some good deal of money renovating the restaurant. The place looked clean and nice, loved their tile selection too. Somehow, most people prefer sitting outdoors as it is much cooler.

Curry Mee With Some Add On's
As always, the Curry Mee at this restaurant is awesome. Those who are health conscious may find it to be on the oily side but taste wise, it is really good. Even their Yong Tau Fu items are tasty. My rating for this Curry Mee would be 9/10. If you're looking for a good place to have Curry Mee in Hulu Bernam, Restoran Ah Zai would be my pick.

Nyonya Cendol @ Subang Jaya, Selangor

Nyonya Cendol is a restaurant that took over this space from Teo Chew Cendol. They are located on the Lower Ground Floor in Main Place, Subang Jaya. If I am not mistaken, this takeover happened only a couple of months back.

Nyonya Cendol On The Lower Ground Floor Of Main Place

The Menu
The space is not too large but I guess they are somehow managing it well. Even during the brief moment that I was here, business seemed to be very good. Their food items are not limited to the above but these are the highly sought after items at this restaurant. Prices aren't cheap but for a mall located in Subang Jaya, it's acceptable.

Cendol with Red Beans & Corn @ RM 7.90

Ais Kacang ABC Special @ RM 6.50
We ordered one Cendol with some add on's and another Ais Kacang ABC Special. Their Cendol was good and as they claim, the ingredients were very fresh. My rating for this shall be 8/10. Their Ais Kacang was even better. It had a lot more ingredients in it and the flavours were excellent. I shall be rating this at 9/10.

Our Bill
For some good Cendol and Ais Kacang, I would recommend Nyonya Cendol which is located in Main Place, Subang Jaya. They have a variety of add on's to choose from and their prices are reasonable. Definitely a place worth visiting.
