Haji Shariff Cendol @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

When you're visiting Seremban, another good restaurant that should not be missed would be Haji Shariff Cndol which is located along Jalan Yam Tuan, quite close to the intersection of Jalan Nunis. This restaurant is open from Saturday till Thursday, from 10.30 am till 6 pm.

The Present Restaurant Located Along Jalan Yam Tuan, Seremban

Brief History Seen At The Restaurant
This restaurant has been at numerous locations in Seremban and this is clearly seen at the restaurant where they have displayed the how this restaurant had evolved to it's present state from it's humble beginnings. Business has been very good and most times, you would have to queue up to collect your Cendol and Rojak.

Prices Of Dishes

Wait In Line At Both Stations
They occupy two shop lots, and the Rojak counter is in one unit and the Cendol station is at the other unit. It is purely a self service restaurant as that is the best way to cope with the crowd. Even today, not only the queue's were long, but we had to wait a while before even getting a place to sit. Prices are very reasonable and it's truly worth the wait.

Cendol Biasa @ RM 1.50

All Stirred Up
They have a variety of Cendol to choose from and what you see above is their Cendol Biasa which is very reasonably priced at RM 1.50 . Very decent portions and it is a taste to remember. Truly one of the best Cendol's that I have tasted. If you're in Seremban, visiting Haji Shariff Cendol is a must.

Empayar Seremban Siew Pow @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

This would be my third entry from my food trail in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Apologies for not posting the last few days as I was engrossed with the developments on the Malaysian 14th General Elections and the events that unfolded in the days to come. Coming back to our post, this is from Empayar Seremban Siew Pow which is the place that had first put Seremban on the national food map.

The Huge Outlet In Taman Bukit Kepayang

Lots Of Eateries Here
If you're driving on the North South Highway, you would definitely see this place as you pass Seremban on your left assuming that you're heading north bound. To get to this place, you would need to exit Seremban and head towards Taman Bukit Kepayang. From the highway, it's less than a 10 minute drive. Besides the famous Seremban Siew Pau place, there are many more restaurants that are located here. It seems that this place has become famous as a tourist spot and many tourist buses stop here as a mandatory pit stop.

Crispy Siew Pow @ RM 1.70 each

Lovely Local Delicacy
I won't say that this is the place that is mostly visited by the locals to get their Siew Pow fix. In fact, there are many small bakeries in Seremban that is famous for this. However, these are the guys that have put Seremban on the national food map in the early 1990's and I thought that due respect had to be given to these guys. Today, this is more of a tourist stop but still, their Siew Pow's are pretty good. Not to say the best in Seremban as I had previously mentioned, nevertheless still good and value for money. Worth a stop if you have never taste Seremban Siew Pow's before.

Lucky King Bun @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

The next famous place in Seremban that I would like to bring to your attention would be Lucky King Bun that is located in Medan Perdagangan Kepayang, Seremban. This restaurant originally started in Lukut and that is where the original restaurant was. In fact, that restaurant still remains there and this is a branch of that restaurant. Previously, these guys were located behind the KPJ Hospital and in recent years they have moved to this new location.

The Restaurant In Medan Perdagangan Kepayang

This Outlet Has A Very Posh Concept

Lot's Of Write Up's On This Restaurant

Business Hours
This restaurant has received lots of media attention in the recent years and because of that, their business had really bloomed and today, this outlet in Seremban has a very posh concept and is capable of seating a huge number of pax. Another reason for this renovation is simply because they get a lot of tour buses stopping by at their restaurant and that being the case, they need the space to accommodate both walk ins and these reservations.

They Now Have  A Variety Of Buns
Originally, they were only selling the Curry Chicken Bun and in recent years, they have added two more variations to their menu. Besides these, they also have an array of dishes that are mostly premium. I had tried this bun many years back, both at their outlet in Lukut as well as the previous restaurant in Seremban. Since I was on a culinary tour, we decided to stick with the original dish that had made them famous as we had many more place to venture.

Steamed Peanuts @ RM 3.00

Chinese Tea Pot @ RM 4.50
As a standard, they serve all their patrons the above Steamed Peanuts and it was pretty good. Definitely high prices but since it was really good, we didn't mind the premium prices. I would rate this at 9/10. Similarly, their service was excellent. There was a waitress that was assigned to our table and she made sure that our tea pot was always filled up and she kept returning to our table to top up our glasses. Totally enjoyed their personalised service.

Curry Chicken Bun @ RM 34.00

Very Delicious Curry
Their Curry Chicken Bun was freshly baked and it was served in under 20 minutes. This is priced at RM 34.00 and it good to feed three adults. The curry is baked along with the bun and it comes with lots of chicken and potatoes in thick curry. If you would ask me, I would say that their curry was pretty good. A mix between the Chinese and Indian was of preparing curry and the aroma was just heavenly. The bun itself was so soft and delicious and together, they made an awesome meal. My rating for this Curry Chicken Bun would be 9/10.

Our Bill
If you're in Seremban, this would be another restaurant that I would highly recommend. Their Curry Chicken Bun is simply amazing and the bun is so soft and tasty. Similarly, their curry comes loaded with chicken and potatoes and it's a taste to remember. Good food and amazing customer service.

Keong Kee Recipe @ Seremban, Negeri Sembilan

Over the next few days, I would be sharing good food places from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. This set of compilation is from my recent trip there, both in search of good food places as well as part of my work assignment. The first place that I had visited is Kedai Makanan Keong Kee Recipe, which is the most famous place for Wan Tan Mee in Seremban.

Keong Kee Recipe Located Along Jalan Seng Meng Lee

Very Clean And Organised
This restaurant is very famous for it's Wan Tan Mee and is the most sought after place by the locals. We were here quite early and the crowd was just building up. By 8 am, the place was almost full house. Luckily we arrived quite early and managed to beat the crowd and good our food almost instantaneously. The restaurant itself was very clean and organised and is located not too far from the Seremban Main Market.

Chinese Tea
The signature dishes here are their Dry Wan Tan Noodles, Soup Wan Tan Noodles and their Curry Mee but you would be able to observe almost their customers going for the Dry Wan Tan Noodles. Actually, for Curry Mee, there is another place that is very famous which I would be sharing in the days to come. Ordering was a breeze since it was just us and in a matter of minutes, our orders were served. Prices were quite reasonable too.

Dry Wan Tan Noodles (Small) @ RM 4.80

Comes With Some Wanton's In Clear Soup
Being a famous place for Wan Tan Noodles in Seremban, the dish truly stood up to it's reputation. The Egg Noodles were soft and silky and the blend of sauces were good. Their Char Siew was pretty good as well. As a total dish, my rating for this shall be 8/10. Similarly, their Wanton's were good as well and most importantly, they were fresh and tasty. Again, my rating for this too shall be 8/10. If you're in Seremban and looking for a good place for Wan Tan Mee, Keong Kee Recipe shall be a great place to visit.

Jalan Sekolah Midnight Curry Mee @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

Jalan Sekolah Midnight Curry Mee is one of the very famous Curry Mee stalls in Seri Kembangan. Previously, they were located in a different area and a couple of years back, they had moved to the present location.

The Stall Right At The Entrance To Jalan Sekolah

Prices Of Dishes
The moment you turn in to Jlan Sekolah that is located in Seri Kembangan New Village, this stall would be the very first stall on your left. Parking can be a challenge at times but since they are only open at nights, it can be manageable. This stall draws such a huge crowd daily and they are open from 9pm till 3 am. Don't be surprised to even see a huge crowd after midnight as it's the norms here where the locals get their supper fix at this stall. Prices are quite reasonable and don't expect much of a personalised service as they are just too busy, be it weekdays or weekends.

Herbal Tea

Choice Of Yong Tau Fu Items

Our Choice Of Yong Tau Fu
Firstly, the biggest challenge for us this evening was finding a table to sit. While waiting for the table, we went over to the Yong Tau Fu station and picked up some items. Then we had to wait in line still unsure as to when would would get a place to sit. And this was at 1.30 am. After a 15 minute wait, we finally got a place to sit. Then our drinks were served and so was the Yong Tau Fu items that we had ordered. Their Herbal Tea was good and my rating for it shall be 8/10. Similarly, their Yong Tau Fu items were fresh and that's a plus point here. Taste wise, it was really good and my rating for these shall be 8/10.

Chili Shrimp Paste

Curry Mee (Small) @ RM 5.80

Choose Your Type Of Noodles

Thick and Delicious Curry
Since it was supper for us, we had ordered a small bowl of Curry Mee each and it was priced at RM 5.80. It was definitely very reasonable pricing as the noodles came with lots of add on's. You don't have to specify what you would like to have as they have a standard add on's that comes with the basic set. The curry itself was very good and now I realise what draws the crowd here even pass midnight. My rating for this Curry Mee is 8/10. If you're craving for Curry Mee in the wee hours of the night, Jalan Sekolah Midnight Curry Mee would be the ideal destination. Good bowl of curry noodles at very reasonable prices.

Sisters' Wan Tan Mee @ Tanjung Malim, Perak

Sister's Wan Tan Mee is a stall that has been around for more than four decades. Originally, they used to operate beside Kedai Gunting Rambut Bunga Raya, and then they moved to the row of shops near Shanmuga Vilas Restaurant. Subsequently, they moved their stall to the morning market where they used to operate there in the morning market and followed by beside Maybank in the afternoons. Recently, they were evicted from the morning market as they had to only have Halal certified stalls. So, all the non Halal stalls have now moved to a new location in Taman Bandar.

The Stalls In Taman Bandar, Tanjung Malim

This Is The Wan Tan Mee Stall
I have been dining here for more than four decades myself and for me, this is one of the best Wan Tan Mee's around. Their preparation has been consistently good over the years and the taste had never declined. This applies both for their noodles as well as their Wanton's. This stall opens at around 7 am and goes on till about noon where they are mostly sold out. Prices have still been kept 'local' in that sense and service is speedy.

Wan Tan Mee (Small) @ RM 4.00
Their Egg Noodles are freshly made by them and that ensures that you get very fresh noodles. They are quite generous with the sauces too and overall, the dish is just fantastic. The only setback would be their Char Siew which isn't really great but still good for a day to day stall. My rating for their Wan Tan Mee is 10/10 and their Char Siew would be 6/10.

Pickled Chili

Wanton
Their pickled chilli is also very fresh and unlike some stalls that lazily slice them thick, here you get perfect fine cuts that is just about the right size. In the last 40 odd years that I have been dining here, never have I come across stale of not so fresh chili. The other fantastic preparation that is not to be missed here is their homemade Wantons. They are made using pork and taste wise it's absolutely heavenly. My rating for this shall be 10/10 as well.

Having dined at this stall for decades, I am very impressed with the consistency of their noodles. Their Wan Tan Mee has always been excellent and the taste has never dwindled. Even their homemade Wanton's are excellent. If you happen to drive pass Tanjung Malim, I would definitely recommend doing a stop over for breakfast at this stall. Good food and reasonable prices.

Ravi's Banana Leaf @ Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

It has been a long time since I last visited Ravi's Banana Leaf Restaurant that is located in Solaris Mont Kiara. This morning, we happened to be here for a breakfast meeting and that was how I landed here at Ravi's. I used to frequent their outlet in Kota Damansara which wasn't to my liking but I was told that the food in this outlet is pretty good. With an open mind, I went on with my orders.

The Restaurant In Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Teh Tarik
I must say that the service levels at this restaurant was excellent. The staffs were very attentive and were quick to serve their customers. This is in total contrast to their other outlet in Kota Damansara. I ordered a glass of Teh Tarik and it was just perfect. Absolutely no complaints as it was really good. My rating for this drink is 9/10.

Tosai with Tomato Chutney, Coconut Chutney and Sambar

Rava Tosai with Sambar, Tomato Chutney and Coconut Chutney
In a matter of minutes, the food was served. In fact, at first I had only ordered the Plain Tosai which came with some Tomato Chutney, Coconut Chutney and Sambar. The food was so good and so were the curries. In fact, their Sambar was drinkable. Having loved the food, I had ordered another Rava Tosai as well. Both Tosai's were excellent and my rating for these shall be 9/10. Both Chutney's deserve 9/10 as well and their Sambar deserves a 10/10. Amazing food and I am coming back again for their Banana Leaf Rice Meals. After having visited this restaurant, I have to agree that the food at this particular outlet is really good.

Restoran Punjabi Junction @ Cyberjaya, Selangor

Punjabi Junction is a new North Indian restaurant that had recently started business in Cyberjaya. If I remember correctly, they only started a few weeks back and their location is in Centrus Cyberjaya. Being located in the very same building, we decided to drop by for dinner this evening.

The Restaurant In Centrus Cyberjaya
The restaurant had a simple yet cosy decoration. Being very new, not many people had heard about them and that being the case, there were only a handful of customers this evening. The entire restaurant is air-conditioned and they have been awarded Class A for cleanliness which is a great thing to have.

Their menu was quite comprehensive and covered a good selection of meats and vegetarian dishes. Prices seemed very reasonable too. We then placed our orders and the wait time wasn't too long. In less than half an hour, the dishes were served.

A Mix of Cucumber, Onions and Carrots

Mint Dip
The mix of vegetables and Pudina Dip were given complimentary. I must say that both were pretty good. The mixed vegetables had a lovely blend of flavours and the sour peppery aftertaste was just unique. I shall give both a rating of 8/10.

Aloo Paratha @ RM 4.50 each

Garlic Naan @ RM 4.00 each

Butter Naan @ RM 3.50 each
We ordered three varieties of bread, Aloo Paratha, Garlic Naan and Butter Naan and the bread was quite huge. What you see above is one each in the basket. Prices were reasonable and I specifically enjoyed their Garlic Naan and Butter Naan. This was quite soft and was up to my liking. The two that I had mentioned here deserve a rating of 8/10. Their Aloo Paratha could have been better and the masala filling was quite bland. My rating for that shall be 6/10.

Mutton Keema Masala @ RM 16.00

Chicken Tikka Masala @ RM 12.00
Their Mutton Keema Masala was above average quality. The portion was huge but I felt that if could have been better taste wise. A little lack of salt as well. Otherwise, it was pretty decent and deserves a rating of 6/10. Their Chicken Tikka Masala was again another above average preparation. The meat could have been a little more tender but I loved the masala marination. Taste wise, I would rate this at 7/10.

Mutton Balls Masala @ RM 15.00

Methi Fish Curry @ RM 10.00
Unlike the earlier dishes, their Mutton Balls Masala and the Methi Fish Curry was absolutely good, I mean really good. The gravy given in the previous dish was so delicious and similarly the curry found in the latter dish was just perfect. Both the dishes deserve nothing less than a 9/10.

Chai Masala @ RM.3.50
After our dinner, we ordered a Masala Chai each. It was priced at RM 3.50 which was an acceptable pricing but we all felt that it was a tad too diluted. Moreover, they should have added more spices to make the drink bolder. My rating for this drink shall be 5/10.

The prices here are quite reasonable and some of the dishes that we tried were really good. I won't say that the taste was consistent across all dishes and that was solely from our single dining experience here. Nevertheless, the dishes that I would recommend would be their Methi Fish Curry, Mutton Masala Balls, Garlic Naan and Buter Naan.
