D Warung Bawal @ Kajang, Selangor

I came across this place after watching the Rasikka Rusikka series on ASTRO Vanavil. This was aired some time back and I had saved it fora while now. After a couple of months, it was only this afternoon that I managed to pay them a visit.

The Restaurant In Sungai Kantan Area

Food Being Prepared On Site
Locating this place is fairly easy with today's technology. Both Google Maps as well as Waze has them listed and brings you accurately to their door step. The main food item here is the Fried Bawal. It goes in sets where you get rice, Ulam, some Curry, Sambal Hijau, another mixture of onions & lime in Sweet Soy Sauce and a reasonably large Fried Bawal. All this for only RM 6.50. If you do not want to have their Fish, then Fried Chicken is also available. However, the top seller here is their Fried Fish. The crowd was extremely overwhelming and the place was literally full house at 12.30 pm. Frying is done on site to ensure that customers get fresh, crispy fried fish.

Teh O Ais

Ulam
Since we knew that we're going to be having something spicy, we opted for Teh O Ais. In fact, we had a couple of drinks since it was a hot afternoon and the drink went so well with the meal. My rating for their drink would be 9/10. The Ulam provided was fresh and it was a good accompaniment to the mains.

Fried Bawal

Fried Chicken
We actually had quite a bit of Fish and Chicken. Though there were only two of us, we totally loved the Fried Bawal and had ordered three of it. The fish was so crispy and the marination was perfect. It was so good and you would be yearning for more and more. This definitely deserves a rating of 10/10. Their Fried Chicken however wasn't up to our expectations. It was just so so and my rating for this shall be 5/10. Between them both, my vote is surely for the Fried Bawal.

Thick Soy Sauce with Onions & Lime

Sambal Hijau
The unique proposition here is to have the rice with the above tow sauces. Not as a combination, but one at a time. Both the sauces differ greatly in taste. The Thick Soy Sauce with lime and onions were totally different to the Sambal Hijau. Both were excellent in their own ways and I would definitely give them both 10/10.

Not forgetting the gravy that was another lovely preparation. Not too spicy, it was just nice and went very well with the rice and fish. My rating for this shall be 8/10.

Although this may seem like a very simple meal, it was definitely deeply satisfying. The Fried Bawal was absolutely heavenly and so were the Sambal Hijau and the Soy Sauce with onions & lime. If you're in Kajang at around noon, I would highly recommend visiting this place in Sungai Kantan. D' Warung Bawal is a must visit restaurant in Kajang.
