Zakuro 2 Japanese Cuisine @ The Scott Garden, Kuala Lumpur

I have heard a lot about this restaurant called Zakuro 2 but never really had the chance to visit it as for me, it is quite far. Located in Scott Garden, Old Klang Road , it is out of the way for me to head there and that has been the reason why the visit to this restaurant has been postponed numerous times. I am a usual customer to Zakuro which is in Plaza Mont Kiara but I do not know if this restaurant has any connection to that. Having said that, today was a day that we got the chance to head there for lunch.

The Menu
The restaurant is located on the first floor of the complex and is quite easily accessible from the car park without heading into the mall. It just occupies a small space and yet has two private rooms. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by one of the waitress. It seems that besides the boss, everyone else is Malaysian here but they know the names of the dishes by heart. Thats very impressive. The kitchen workers were mostly Malay's too. Do note that they do not serve pork at this restaurant. Mostly they were having set meals throughout their menu with some stand alone dishes. We were accompanied by the waitress as we went through the menu and she assisted as and when required as I have become somewhat familiar with Japanese food now.

Green Tea @ RM 2.00
As for the drinks, we decided to stick with Green Tea as this is the best drink to get at any Japanese restaurants. Here, they were chargeable at RM 2.00 per person.

Edamame @ RM 6.00
As one of the starters I ordered the above Edamame. Angie has never tried this and I wanted her to try it at least today. At RM 6.00 , it was decently priced and the portion was reasonable. Being lightly salted, it went well with the green tea while we were waiting for the other dishes to arrive. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Salmon Sushi & Tobiko Sushi @ RM 12.00
As an additional starters, we ordered the above Sushi combination. They have a number of combinations for you to choose from and I just went with these. I would say that their Sushi was really good and fresh. They would definitely score 9/10 on my radar.

Gyuza @ RM 15.00
Their Gyuza was again another well prepared dish. Though the sizes were not consistent, the filling tasted very good and the dip sauce was also excellent. I would rate this at 9/10 .

Tempura Udon Set @ RM 22.00

Tempura Udon Set @ RM 22.00

Fruits Part of the Set
Angie ordered the Tempura Udon set which comes with the bowl of noodles, Tempura and fruits. The Tempura was decent though not the best one I have tried but the noodles were just average. We were a little disappointed with this dish. With just slight changes, this dish can be easily perfected. However, I would give an overall rating of only 6/10 for this set.

Shake Teriyaki Set @ RM 25.00

Chawanmushi Part Of The Set

Miso Soup...part of the set
I ordered the Shake Teriyaki set which came at a price of RM 25.00 . Compared to what Angie ordered, this seemed of a better value deal to me as there were more items included in the set. Firstly the Shake Teriyaki itself. This was very well done. The Chawanmushi and Miso Soup also were well done. Overall for this set, I would rate it at 9/10 . Now after trying their rice and noodles, I think their rice sets here are of better value and taste.
